QURAN EXPLAINED BY THE PROPHET (pbuh)

Bismillāh - ALLAH, THE MOST GRACIOUS, THE MOST MERCIFUL

[ALLAH’S Quran 1:1] بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

[Transliteration] Bismi Allahi alrrahmani alrraheemi

[IBN KATHIR] “In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful”
[PICKTHALL] “In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful”
[YUSUF ALI] “In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful”
[Dr MUNSHI] "In the name of Allah, the most Merciful, the most Beneficent!

[Bukhari, Book #65, Hadith #288] “Narrated 'Umar bin Abi Salama: I was a boy under the care of Allah's Apostle and my hand used to go around the dish while I was eating. So Allah's Apostle said to me, 'O boy! Mention the Name of Allah and eat with your right hand, and eat of the dish what is nearer to you." Since then I have applied those instructions when eating.”

[1:1-7]

Chapter 1

Al-Fatihah
This Sura is named Al-Fatihah because of its subject-matter. Fatihah is that which opens a subject or a book or any other thing. In other words Al-Fatihah is a sort of preface.

ALLAH’S RESPONSE TO THE BELIEVERS............

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. [Quran 1:1]

When ALLAH’S sincere servant says:
All praise belongs to Allah, the Lord of the universe! [Quran 1:2]
Allah the Most High says: My servant has Praised Me.

When ALLAH’S sincere servant says:
The most Merciful, the most Beneficent! [Quran 1:3]
He (Allah the Most High) says: My servant has lauded Me.

When ALLAH’S sincere servant says:
Master of the Day of Judgment! [Quran 1:4]
He (Allah the most high) says: My servant has glorified Me. [My servant entrusted (his affairs) to Me.]

When ALLAH’S sincere servant says:
You alone do we worship, and You alone do we ask for help! [Quran 1:5]
He (Allah the most high) says: This is Between Me and My servant, and My servant will receive what he asks for.

When ALLAH’S sincere servant says:
Guide us to the Straight Path! The path of those upon whom You have bestowed Your blessings! Not the path of those who earned Your wrath, or erred and went astray. [Quran 1:6-7]
He (Allah the most high) says: This is for My servant, and My servant will receive what he asks for.

The Prophet (pbuh) has said:
[Muslim, Book #004, Hadith #0775] “Abu Huraira reported: The Apostle of Allah (may peace Be upon him) said: If anyone observes prayer in which he does not recite Umm al-Qur'an, It is deficient [he said this three times] and not complete. It was said to Abu Huraira: At times we are Behind the Imam. He said: Recite it inwardly, for he had heard the Messenger of Allah (may peace Be upon him) declare that Allah the Exalted had said: I have divided the prayer into two halves Between Me and My servant, and My servant will receive what he asks. When the servant says: Praise Be to Allah, the Lord of the universe, Allah the Most High says: My servant has Praised Me. And when he (the servant) says: The Most Compassionate, the Merciful, Allah the Most High says: My servant has lauded Me. And when he (the servant) says: Master of the Day of judgment, He remarks: My servant has glorified Me. and sometimes He would say: My servant entrusted (his affairs) to Me. And when he (the worshiper) says: Thee do we worship and of Thee do we ask help, He (Allah) says: This is Between Me and My servant, and My servant will receive what he asks for. Then, when he (the worshiper) says: Guide us to the straight path, the path of those to whom Thou hast Been Gracious not of those who have incurred Thy displeasure, nor of those who have gone astray, He (Allah) says: This is for My servant, and My servant will receive what he asks for. Sufyan said: 'Ala b. 'Abd al-Rahman b. Ya'qub narrated it to me when I went to him and he was confined to his home on account of illness, and I asked him about it.”

[Malik’s Muwatta, Book #3, Hadith #3.10.41] “Yahya related to me from Malik from al-Ala ibn Abd ar-Rahman ibn Ya'qub that he heard Abu's-Sa'ib, the mawla of Hisham ibn Zuhra, say he had heard Abu Hurayra say, "I heard the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, say, 'Whoever prays a prayer without reciting the umm al-Qur'an in it, his prayer is aborted, it is aborted, it is aborted, incomplete.' So I said, 'Abu Hurayra, sometimes I am behind the imam. 'He pulled my forearm and said, 'Recite it to your self, O Persian, for I heard the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, say that Allah the Blessed, the Exalted, said, "I have divided the prayer into two halves Between me and my slave. One half of it is for Me and one half of it is for My slave, and My slave has what he asks." 'The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "Recite." The slave says, 'Praise Be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds.' Allah the Blessed, the Exalted, says, 'My slave has Praised Me.' The slave says, 'The Merciful, the Compassionate.' Allah says, 'My slave has spoken well of Me.' The slave says, 'Master of the Day of the Deen.' Allah says, 'My slave has glorified Me.' The slave says, 'You alone we worship and You alone we ask for help. 'Allah says, 'This ayat is Between Me and My slave, and for My slave is what he asks. 'The slave says, 'Guide us in the straight Path, the Path of those whom You have blessed, not of those with whom You are angry, nor those who are in error. ' Allah says, 'These are for My slaves, and for my slave is what he asks .' "

Surah Fatihah – Theme (Maududi)
This Sura is in fact a prayer which Allah has taught to all those who want to make a study of his book. It has been placed at the very beginning of the book to teach this lesson to the reader: if you sincerely want to benefit from the Quran you should offer this prayer to the Lord of the Universe. This preface is meant to create a strong desire in the heart of the reader to seek guidance from the Lord of the Universe who alone can grant it. Thus Al- Fatihah indirectly teaches that the best thing for a man is to pray for guidance to the straight path to study the Quran with the mental attitude of a seeker- after-truth and to recognize the fact that the Lord of the Universe is the source of all knowledge. He should therefor begin the study of the Quran with a prayer to him for guidance. From this theme it becomes clear that the real relation between Al-Fatihah and the Quran is not that of an introduction to a book but that of a prayer and its answer. Al-Fatihah is the prayer from the servant and the Quran is the answer from the Master to his prayer. The servant prays to Allah to show him guidance and the Master places the whole of the Quran before him in answer to his prayer as if to say This is the Guidance you begged from Me.

[1:5]

THEE ALONE WE WORSHIP

[1:5 – Bakhtiar] “Thee alone we worship and to Thee alone we pray for help.”

The Prophet (pbuh) has said:

[Bukhari, Book #2, Hadith #50] “Do you know what is meant by believing in Allah alone?" They replied, "Allah and His Apostle know better." Thereupon the Prophet said, "It means: 1. To testify that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah and Muhammad is Allah's Apostle. 2. To offer prayers perfectly 3. To pay the Zakat (obligatory charity) 4. To observe fast during the month of Ramadan. 5. And to pay Al-Khumus (one fifth of the booty to be given in Allah's Cause). Then he forbade them four things, namely, Hantam, Dubba,' Naqir Ann Muzaffat or Muqaiyar; (These were the names of pots in which Alcoholic drinks were prepared) (The Prophet mentioned the container of wine and he meant the wine itself). The Prophet further said (to them): "Memorize them (these instructions) and convey them to the people whom you have left behind.”

[Muslim, Book #001, Hadith #0023] “I direct you to affirm belief in Allah alone, and then asked them: Do you know what belief in Allah really implies? They said: Allah and His Messenger know best. The Prophet said: It implies testimony to the fact that there is no god but Allah, and that Muhammad is the messenger ofAllah, establishment of prayer, payment of Zakat, fast of Ramadan, that you pay one-fifth of the booty (fallen to your lot) and I forbid you to use gourd, wine jar, or a receptacle for wine. Shu'ba sometimes narrated the word naqir (wooden pot) and sometimes narrated it as muqayyar. The Holy Prophet also said: Keep it in your mind and inform those who have been left behind.”

[2:2-4]

QURAN, THE GLORIOUS BOOK OF GUIDANCE

“(This is) the Glorious Book in which there is no chance of doubt. (It is) a guide for those who guard against evil and fear Allah: who believe in the unseen, and are steadfast in prayer, and spend out of what We have provided them with; Who believe in what has been revealed to you and what was revealed to those before you, and are certain of the Hereafter. It is they who follow the guidance from their LORD and it is they who shall prosper.”

[2:2 – Qadri]; [2:3 – Wahiduddin]; [2:4 – Ahmed Ali]; [2:5 - Sher Ali]

The Prophet (pbuh) has said:

[Muslim, Book #004, Hadith #1694] “'Abd al-Rahman b. 'Auf reported: I asked 'A'isha, the mother of the believers, (to tell me) the words with which the Apostle of Allah (may peace be upon him) commenced the prayer when he got up at night. She said: When he got up at night he would commence his prayer with these words: O Allah, Lord of Gabriel, and Michael, and Israfil, the Creator of the heavens and the earth, Who knowest the unseen and the seen; Thou decidest amongst Thy servants concerning their differences. Guide me with Thy permission in the divergent views (which the people) hold about Truth, for it is Thou Who guidest whom Thou wilt to the Straight Path”

[2:21]

O MANKIND, WORSHIP YOUR LORD

[ALLAH’S Quran - 2:21 – Umm Muhammad] "O mankind, worship your Lord, who created you and those before you, that you may become righteous"

The Prophet (pbuh) has said:

[2:21]

WORSHIP ALLAH ALONE, WHO CREATED US

[ALLAH’S Quran - 2:21 - Moenian] “O mankind, worship no one but your Lord. The one who created you and people who lived before you; so that you may become righteous and get salvation.”

[Bukhari, Book #23, Hadith #441] “Narrated Abu Huraira : Allah's Apostle said, "Every child is born with a true faith of Islam (i.e. to worship none but Allah Alone) but his parents convert him to Judaism, Christianity or Magainism, as an animal delivers a perfect baby animal. Do you find it mutilated?" Then Abu Huraira recited the holy verses: "The pure Allah's Islamic nature (true faith of Islam) (i.e. worshipping none but Allah) with which He has created human beings. No change let there be in the religion of Allah (i.e. joining none in worship with Allah). That is the straight religion (Islam) but most of men know, not." (30.30)

[2:39]

ALLAH’S UNALTERABLE DECREE

[ALLAH’S Quran - 2:39 – Asad] “but those who are bent on denying the truth and giving the lie to Our Messages - they are destined for the fire, and therein shall they abide.”
PROPHET (pbuh) has said:

[Bukhari, Book #92, Hadith #384] “Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, "All my followers will enter paradise except those who refuse." They said, "O Allah's Apostle! Who will refuse?" He said, "Whoever obeys me will enter paradise, and whoever disobeys me is the one who refuses (to enter it).”

[2:45]

Never forget To Pray To ALLAH, The MASTER CREATOR

[Quran - 2:45 - Shakir] "And seek assistance through patience and prayer, and most surely it is a hard thing except for the humble ones,"

The Prophet (pbuh) has said:

[Bukhari, Book #21, Hadith #263] "O Allah! I ask guidance from Your Knowledge, And Power from Your Might and I ask for Your great blessings. You are capable and I am not. You Know and I do not and You Know the unseen. O Allah! If You Know that This job is good for my religion and my subsistence and in my Hereafter--(or said: If it is better for my present and later needs)--Then You ordain it for me and make it easy for me to get, And then bless me in it, and if You Know that This job is harmful tome In my religion and subsistence and in the Hereafter--(or said: If it is worse for my present and later needs)--Then keep it away from me and let me be away from it. And ordain for me whatever is good for me, And make me satisfied with it). The Prophet added that then the person should name (mention) his need."

[2:129]

Prophet ABRAHAM (pbuh) prayed for the TEACHER for his people

[Quran - 2:129 – Laleh Bakhtiar] “Our Lord! And raise Thou up, then, in the midst of them, a Messenger from among them who will recount to them Thy signs and teach them the Book, and wisdom and make them pure. Truly, Thou, Thou alone art The Almighty, The Wise.”
[2:151 and 3:164]

ALLAH (SWT) Sent The TEACHER

[Quran - 2:151 – Laleh Bakhtiar] “as We sent to you a Messenger from among you who recounts Our signs to you, and makes you pure, and teaches you the Book and wisdom, and teaches you what you be knowing not.”

[Quran - 3:164 – Laleh Bakhtiar] “Certainly, God showed grace to the ones who believe when he raised up among them a Messenger from themselves who recounts His signs to them and makes them pure and teaches them the Book and wisdom. And, truly, before that they had been, certainly, clearly wandering astray.”

[Bukhari, Book #56, Hadith #667] “Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Amr: The Prophet said, "Convey (my teachings) to the people even if it were a single sentence, and tell others the stories of Bani Israel (which have been taught to you), for it is not sinful to do so. And whoever tells a lie on me intentionally, will surely take his place in the (Hell) Fire.”

[Bukhari, Book #74, Hadith #281] “Narrated Ibn Mas'ud: Allah's Apostle taught me the Tashah-hud as he taught me a Sura from the Quran, while my hand was between his hands. (Tashah-hud was) all the best compliments and the prayers and the good things are for Allah. Peace and Allah's Mercy and Blessings be on you, O Prophet! Peace be on us and on the pious slaves of Allah, I testify that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah, and I also testify that Muhammad is Allah's slave and His Apostle. (We used to recite this in the prayer) during the lifetime of the Prophet , but when he had died, we used to say, "Peace be on the Prophet.”

[Muslim, Book #004, Hadith #1904] “Abu Rifa'a reported: I came to the Holy Prophet (way peace be upon him) when he was delivering the sermon, and I said: Messenger of Allah, here is a stranger and he wants to learn about his religion and he does not know what his religion is. The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) looked at me and left his sermon till he came to me, and he was given a chair and I thought that Its legs were made of iron. The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) sat In it and he began to teach me what Allah had taught him. He then came (to the pulpit) for his sermon and completed it to the end.”

[Sunan Abudawud, Book #7, Hadith #1396] “Narrated Amr ibn al-'As: The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) taught me fifteen prostrations while reciting the Qur'an, including three in al-Mufassal and two in Surah al-Hajj.”

[2 V 136]

ALLAH, THE EXALTED, COMMANDS: NO DISTINCTION BETWEEN MESSENGERS

[ALLAH'S Quran - 2:136 - Umm Muhammad] Say, [O believers], "We have believed in Allah and what has been revealed to us and what has been revealed to Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac and Jacob and the Descendants and what was given to Moses and Jesus and what was given to the prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them, and we are Muslims [in submission] to Him."

The Prophet (pbuh) has said:

[Bukhari, Book #60, Hadith #128] "Narrated Abu HuraIra: The Prophet saId, "Whoever says that I am better than Jonah bIn Matta, Is a lIar."

[Bukhari, Book #41, Hadith #594] "Narrated Abu Huraira: Two persons, a Muslim and a Jew, quarrelled. The Muslim said, "By Him Who gave Muhammad superiority over all the people! The Jew said, "By Him Who gave Moses superiority over all the people!" At that the Muslim raised his hand and slapped the Jew on the face. The Jew went to the Prophet and informed him of what had happened between him and the Muslim. The Prophet sent for the Muslim and asked him about it. The Muslim informed him of the event. The Prophet said, "Do not give me superiority over Moses, for on the Day of Resurrection all the people will fall unconscious and I will be one of them, but I will. be the first to gain consciousness, and will see Moses standing and holding the side of the Throne (of Allah). I will not know whether (Moses) has also fallen unconscious and got up before me, or Allah has exempted him from that stroke."

[Muslim, Book #030, Hadith#5854] "Abu Fluraira reported that two persons, one from amongst the Jews and the other from amongst theMuslims, fell into dispute and began to abuse one another. The Muslim said: By Him Who chose Muhammad (may peace be upon him) in the worlds. And the Jew said: By Him Who chose Moses in the worlds. Thereupon the Muslim lifted his hand and slapped at the face of the Jew. The Jew went to Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) and told him about his affair and the affair of the Muslim. Thereupon Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) laid: Don't make me superior to Moses for mankind will swoon and I would be the 'first to recover from it and Moses would be at that time seizing the side of the Throne and I do not know (whether) he would swoon and would recover before me or Allah would make an exception for him."

[2:142]

ALLAH GUIDES WHOM HE LIKES TO THE STRAIGHT PATH

[Quran – 2:142 – Umm Muhammad] “ "To Allah belongs the east and the west. He guides whom He wills to a straight path."

The Prophet (pbuh) has said:

[Bukhari, Book #8, Hadith #392] “Narrated Bara' bin 'Azib: Allah's Apostle prayed facing Baitul-Maqdis for sixteen or seventeen months but he loved to face the Ka'ba (at Mecca) so Allah revealed: "Verily, We have seen the turning of your face to the heaven!" (2:144) So the Prophet faced the Ka'ba and the fools amongst the people namely "the Jews" said, "What has turned them from their Qibla (Bait-ul-Maqdis) which they formerly observed"" (Allah revealed): "Say: 'To Allah belongs the East and the West. He guides whom he will to a straight path'." (2:142) A man prayed with the Prophet (facing the Ka'ba) and went out. He saw some of the Ansar praying the 'Asr prayer with their faces towards Bait-ul-Maqdis, he said, "I bear witness that I prayed with Allah's Apostle facing the Ka'ba." So all the people turned their faces towards the Ka'ba.”

Guide me with Thy permission in the divergent views (which the people) hold about Truth, for it is Thou Who guidest whom Thou wilt to the Straight Path.”

[Sunan Abudawud, Book #11, Hadith #2113] “Narrated Abdullah ibn Mas'ud: The Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) taught us the address in case of some need: Praise be to Allah from Whom we ask help and pardon, and in Whom we take refuge from the evils within ourselves. He whom Allah guides has no one who can lead him astray, and he whom He leads astray has no one to guide him. I testify that there is no god but Allah, and I testify that Muhammad is His servant and Apostle. "You who believe,...fear Allah by Whom you ask your mutual rights, and reverence the wombs.Allah has been watching you." ..."you who believe, fear Allah as He should be feared, and die only as Muslims" ...."you who believe, fear Allah as He should be feared, and die only as Muslims"....."you who believe, fearAllah and say what is true. He will make your deeds sound, and forgive your sins. He who obeys Allah and His Apostle has achieved a mighty success." The narrator, Muhammad ibn Sulayman, did mention the word "inna" (verily).”

[2:152]

REMEMBER ALLAH AND ALLAH WILL REMEMBER YOU

[ALLAH'S Quran – 2:152 – Dr Munshey] “You remember Me, and I shall remember you! Offer your thanks to Me, and do not (ever) be ungrateful!"

[HADITH - Bukhari, Book#11, Hadith #629] “Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, "Allah will give shade, to seven, on the Day when there will be no shade but His. (These seven persons are) a just ruler, a youth who has been brought up in the worship ofAllah (i.e. worships Allah sincerely from childhood), a man whose heart is attached to the mosques (i.e. to pray the compulsory prayers in the mosque in congregation), two persons who love each other only for Allah's sake and they meet and part in Allah's cause only, a man who refuses the call of a charming woman of noble birth for illicit intercourse with her and says: I am afraid of Allah, a man who gives charitable gifts so secretly that his left hand does not know what his right hand has given (i.e. nobody knows how much he has given in charity), and a person who remembers Allah in seclusion and his eyes are then flooded with tears."

[Muslim, Book #005, Hadith #2248] “Abu Huraira reported that the Apostle of Allah (may peace be upon him) had said: Seven are (the persons) whom Allah would give protection with His shade on the Day when there would be no shade but that of Him (i. e. on the Day of Judgment, and they are): a just ruler, a youth who grew up with the worship of Allah; a person whose heart is attached to the mosques; two persons who love and meet each other and depart from each other for the sake of Allah; a man whom a beautiful woman of high rank seduces (for illicit relation), but he (rejects this offer by saying):" I fear Allah" ; a person who gives charity and conceals it (to such an extent) that the right hand does not know what the left has given: and a person who remembered Allah in privacy and his eyes shed tears.”

[2:153]

ALLAH WITH THE PATIENT

[ALLAH'S Quran – 2:153 – Shakir] “O you who believe! seek assistance through patience and prayer; surely Allah is with the patient.”

The Prophet (pbuh) has said:

[Bukhari, Book #70, Hadith #547] “Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, "The example of a believer is that of a fresh tender plant; from whatever direction the wind comes, it bends it, but when the wind becomes quiet, it becomes straight again. Similarly, a believer is afflicted with calamities (but he remains patient till Allah removes his difficulties.) And an impious wicked person is like a pine tree which keeps hard and straight till Allah cuts (breaks) it down when He wishes.”

[2:155]

HARDSHIP A TEST FOR THE BELIEVERS, FROM ALLAH

[ALLAH'S Quran - 2:155 – Al-Muntakhab] “We will afflict you with some disagreeable events and misfortunes to test your faith’s qualities. We will make you experience fear, hunger and loss of wealth and lives, and a diminished yield in the earth’s fruits. But announce, O Muhammad, blissful tidings to the patient and constantly persevering, unwearied in the face of difficulties and hindrances.”

The Prophet (pbuh) has said:

[Fiqh-us-Sunnah, Volume 4, Number 1] “The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "When God wants to be good to someone, He tries him with hardship." The Prophet also said: "For every misfortune, illness, anxiety, grief, or hurt that afflicts a believer - even the pain caused by the pricking of a thorn - God removes some of his sins."

[2:155]

GLAD TIDINGS FOR THE PATIENT IN ADVERSITY

[ALLAH'S Quran – 2:155 – Asad] “And most certainly shall We try you by means of danger, and hunger, and loss of worldly goods, of lives and of [labour's] fruits. But give glad tidings unto those who are patient in adversity”

[2:156]

TRULY TO ALLAH WE BELONG

[ALLAH'S Quran - 2:156 – Hilali & Khan] “Who, when afflicted with calamity, say: "Truly! To Allah we belong and truly, to Him we shall return."
The Prophet (pbuh) has said:

[Malik’s Muwatta, Book #16, Hadith #16.14.42] "If a misfortune befalls someone and he says, as Allah has ordered, 'We belong to Allah and to Him we are returning. O Allah, reward me in my misfortune and give me better than it afterwards,' Allah will do that for him" (Inna Lillahi wa Inna ilayhi rajiun. Allahumma' jurniy fi musiybatiy, wa a qibhiy khayran minha, illa faala 'llahu dhalika bihi.). Umm Salama said, "When Abu Salama died I said that, and then I said, 'Who is better than Abu Salama?' " And then Allah left her the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and he married her.”

[2:183-185, 187]

RAMADAN – A GLORIOUS OBSERVANCE - ENJOINED

[ALLAH’S Quran – 2:183 – Shakir] "O ye who believe! Fasting is prescribed for you, even as it was prescribed for those before you, that ye may ward off (evil)"

[ALLAH’S Quran -2:184-185 – Al Muntakhab] "It is a religious observance that lasts for a fixed number of days. But those of you who are sick or proceeding on a journey shall compensate the fast by the same number of days at a later date. As for those who experience hardship caused by fasting, they appease Allah by expiation of feeding an indigent. Nonetheless, he who voluntarily offers to commit good shall find benevolence and benefaction indeed rewarding; and if you are able to fast, it profits you, if only you knew. Ramadan is the month of fasting during which the Quran’s poignant disclosure was revealed to guide people into all truth; its clear revelations guide out of darkness and superstition and eliminate w ant of spiritual and intellectual vision into illumination and mental enlightenment, and its precepts are the standard to judge right or wrong. Therefore, he who grasps sight of the birth of the moon shall begin to fast. But he who is sick or proceeding on a journey shall fast the same number of days at a later time. Allah purposes to put you at ease and not make you experience discomfort. He wants you to complete the course of fasting so that you praise Allah and extol His glorious attributes for His guidance to the path of righteousness and that you may hopefully impel yourselves to feel gratitude"

[ALLAH’S Quran – 2:187 – Yusuf Ali] “Permitted to you, on the night of the fasts, is the approach to your wives. They are your garments and ye are their garments. Allah knoweth what ye used to do secretly among yourselves; but He turned to you and for gave you; so now associate with them, and seek what Allah Hath ordained for you, and eat and drink, until the white thread of dawn appear to you distinct from its black thread; then complete your fast Till the night appears; but do not associate with your wives while ye are in retreat in the mosques. Those are Limits (set by) Allah: Approach not nigh thereto. Thus doth Allah make clear His Signs to men: that they may learn self-restraint.”

PROPHET (pbuh) has said:

[Bukhari, Book #2, Hadith#37] “Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, "Whoever observes fasts during the month of Ramadan out of sincere faith, and hoping to attain Allah's rewards, then all his past sins will be forgiven."

[Muslim, Book #004, Hadith #1664] “Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: He who observed the fasts of Ramadan with faith and seeking reward (from Allah), all his previous sins would be forgiven, and he who observed prayer on Lailat-ul- Qadr with faith and seeking reward (from Allah), all his previous sins would be forgiven.”

[Bukhari, Book #31, Hadith #128] “Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, "Allah said, 'All the deeds of Adam's sons (people) are for them, except fasting which is for Me, and I will give the reward for it.' Fasting is a shield or protection from the fire and from committing sins. If one of you is fasting, he should avoid sexual relation with his wife and quarreling, and if somebody should fight or quarrel with him, he should say, 'I am fasting.' By Him in Whose Hands my soul is' The unpleasant smell coming out from the mouth of a fasting person is better in the sight of Allah than the smell of musk. There are two pleasures for the fasting person, one at the time of breaking his fast, and the other at the time when he will meet his Lord; then he will be pleased because of his fasting."

[Muslim, Book #006, Hadith #2567] “Abu Huraira (Allah be pleased with him) reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: Every (good) deed of the son of Adam would be multiplied, a good deed receiving a tenfold to seven hundredfold reward. Allah, the Exalted and Majestic, has said: With the exception of fasting, for it is done for Me and I will give a reward for it, for one abandons his passion and food for My sake. There are two occasions of joy for one who fasts, joy when he breaks it, and joy when he meets his Lord, and the breath (of an observer of fast) is sweeter to Allah than the fragrance of musk.”

[2:193]

OPPRESSION (PERSECUTION) FORBIDDEN IN ISLAM

[ALLAH’S Quran - 2:193 – Abdullah Yusuf Ali] “And fight them on until there is no more Tumult or oppression, and there prevail justice and faith in Allah; but if they cease, Let there be no hostility except to those who practise oppression.”

[Muslim, Book #032, Hadith #6247 ] “Abu Dharr reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying that he reported it from his Lord, the Exalted and Glorious: Verily I have made oppression unlawful for Me and for My servants too, so do not commit oppression.”

[Muslim, Book #032, Hadith #6248 ] “Jabir b. Abdullah reported that Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) said: Be on your guard against committing oppression, for oppression is a darkness on the Day of Resurrection, and be on your guard against pettimindedness for pettimindedness destroyed those who were before you, as it incited them to shed blood and make lawful what was unlawful for them.”

[Muslim, Book #032, Hadith#6250] “Salim reported on the authority of his father that Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) said: A Muslim is the brother of a fellow-Muslim. He should neither commit oppression upon him nor ruin him, and he who meets the need of a brother, Allah would meet big needs, and he who relieved a Muslim from hardship Allah would relieve him from the hardships to which he would be put on the Day of Resurrection, and he who did not expose (the follies of a Muslim) Allah would conceal his follies on the Day of Resurrection.”

[Sunnan Abudawud, Book #41, Hadith #4884] “Narrated Abu Bakrah: The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: There is no sin more fitted to have punishment meted out by Allah to its perpetrator in advance in this world along with what He stores up for him in the next world than oppression and severing ties of relationship.”

[2:201]

OUR LORD GRANT US WHAT IS GOOD

[Quran 2:201 – Ali Unal] “And among them are those who pray, "Our Lord, grant us in the world what is good, and in the Hereafter what is good, and protect us from the punishment of the Fire."

The Prophet (pbuh) has said:

[Bukhari, Book #75, Hadith #398] Narrated Anas: The most frequent invocation of The Prophet was: "O Allah! Give to us in the world that which is good and in the Hereafter that which is good, and save us from the torment of the fire."

[Muslim, Book #035, Hadith #6501] “Anas reported that Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) visited a person from amongst the Muslims in order to inquire (about his health) who had grown feeble like the chicken. Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) said: Did you supplicate for anything or beg of Him about that? He said: Yes. I used to utter (these words): Impose punishment upon me earlier in this world, what Thou art going to impose upon me in the Hereafter. Thereupon Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) said: Hallowed be Allah, you have neither the power nor forbearance to take upon yourself (the burden of His Punishment). Why did you not say this: O Allah, grant us good in the world and good in the Hereafter, and save us from the torment of fire. He (the Holy Prophet) made this supplication (for him) and he was all right.

[Muslim, Book #035, Hadith #6506] “Qatada asked Anas which Supplication Allah's Apostle (may peace be upon him) frequently made. He said: The supplication that he (the Holy Prophet made very frequently is this:" O Allah, grant us the good in this world and the good in the Hereafter and save us from the torment of Hell-fire." He (Qatada) said that whenever Anas had to supplicate he made this very supplication, and whenever he (intended) to make another supplication he (inserted) this very supplication in that.

[2:215]

Blessed is the wealth of a Muslim from which he gives to the poor

[ALLAH’S Quran - 2:215 – Shakir] “They ask you as to what they should spend. Say: Whatever wealth you spend, it is for the parents and the near of kin and the orphans and the needy and the wayfarer, and whatever good you do, Allah surely knows it.

The Prophet (pbuh) has said:

[Bukhari, Book #24, Hadith #544] “Narrated Abu Said Al-Khudri : Once the Prophet sat on a pulpit and we sat around him. Then he said, "The things I am afraid of most for your sake (concerning what will befall you after me) is the pleasures and splendors of the world and its beauties which will be disclosed to you." Somebody said, "O Allah's Apostle! Can the good bring forth evil?" The Prophet remained silent for a while. It was said to that person, "What is wrong with you? You are talking to the Prophet (p.b.u.h) while he is not talking to you." Then we noticed that he was being inspired divinely. Then the Prophet wiped off his sweat and said, "Where is the questioner?" It seemed as if the Prophet liked his question. Then he said, "Good never brings forth evil. Indeed it is like what grows on the banks of a water-stream which either kill or make the animals sick, except if an animal eats its fill the Khadira (a kind of vegetable) and then faces the sun, and then defecates and urinates and grazes again. No doubt this wealth is sweet and green. blessed is the wealth of a Muslim from which he gives to the poor, the orphans and to needy travellers. (Or the Prophet said something similar to it) No doubt, whoever takes it illegally will be like the one who eats but is never satisfied, and his wealth will be a witness against him on the Day of Resurrection."

[2:225]

ALLAH’S REWARDS – According To Intentions

[Quran - 2:225 – Abdullah Yusuf Ali] “Allah will not call you to account for thoughtlessness in your oaths, but for the intention in your hearts; and He is Oft-forgiving, Most Forbearing.”

[Bukhari, Book #1, Hadith #1] “Narrated 'Umar bin Al-Khattab: I heard Allah's Apostle saying, "The reward of deeds depends upon the intentions and every person will get the reward according to what he has intended. So whoever emigrated for worldly benefits or for a woman to marry, his emigration was for what he emigrated for." (Book #1, Hadith #1)

[Muslim, Book #020, Hadith #4692] “It has been narrated on the authority of Umar b. al-Khattab that the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said: (The value of) an action depends on the intention behind it. A man will be rewarded only for what he intended. The emigration of one who emigrates for the sake of Allah and His Messenger (may peace be upon him) is for the sake of Allah and His Messenger (may peace be upon him) ; and the emigration of one who emigrates for gaining a worldly advantage or for marrying a woman is for what he has emigrated.”

[Abudawud, Book #20, Hadith #3105] Narrated Jabir ibn Atik: “The Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) said: Allah Most High gave him a reward according to his intentions.”

[2:261]

ALLAH REIMBURSES MANY FOLD

[ALLAH’S Quran - 2:261 – Al-Muntakhab] “The example of those who spend of their wealth in divine service is similar to sown individual grains of corn growing seven auricles, each auricle carrying a hundred grains. And Allah thankfully reimburses multi-fold to whom He will, and Allah is Wasi‘un, His grace abounds in the universe, and He is Alimun.”

The PROPHET (pbuh) has said:

[Fiqh-us-Sunnah, Volume 3, Number 104B] “The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "Whoever seeks the protection of God, give him protection. Whoever asks in the name of God, grant him refuge. Whoever does a good deed to you, reward him. And if you do not have anything (to give in reward), invoke God's blessings on his behalf until you know that he has been rewarded."

[Al-Tirmidhi, Hadith 897] “The Prophet also said: "Whoever does not thank people, does not thank God."

[2:262]

SPEND IN ALLAH’S WAY, ALLAH WILL SPEND ON YOU

[Quran – 2:262 – Aisha Bewley] “Those who spend their wealth in the Way of Allah, and then do not follow what they have spent by demands for gratitude or insulting words will have their reward with their Lord. They will feel no fear and will know no sorrow.”

The Prophet (pbuh) has said:

[Bukhari, Book #64, Hadith #264 ] “Narrated Abu Huraira: ALLAH's Apostle said, "ALLAH said, 'O son of Adam! spend, and I shall spend on you."

[Bukhari, Book #60, Hadith #206] “Narrated Abu Huraira: ALLAH's Apostle said, "ALLAH said, 'spend (O man), and I shall spend on you." He also said, "ALLAH's Hand is full, and (its fullness) is not affected by the continuous spending night and day." He also said, "Do you see what He has spent since He created the Heavens and the Earth? Nevertheless, what is in His Hand is not decreased, and His Throne was over the water; and in His Hand there is the balance (of justice) whereby He raises and lowers (people)."

[Bukhari, Book #24, Hadith #522] “Narrated Abu Huraira : The Prophet said, "Every day two angels come down from Heaven and one of them says, 'O ALLAH! Compensate every person who spends in Your Cause,' and the other (angel) says, 'O ALLAH! Destroy every miser.’"

[Bukhari, Book #3, Hadith #73] “Narrated 'Abdullah bin Mas'ud: The Prophet said, "Do not wish to be like anyone except in two cases. (The first is) A person, whom Allah has given wealth and he spends it righteously; (the second is) the one whom Allah has given wisdom (the Holy Qur'an) and he acts according to it and teaches it to others." (Fateh-al-Bari page 177 Vol. 1)

[Muslim, Book #005, Hadith #2178] “Abu Huraira reported ALLAH's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying that ALLAH, the Most Blessed and High, said: O son of Adam, spend. I will spend on you. The right hand of ALLAH is full and overflowing and in nothing would diminish it, by overspending day and night."

[Muslim, Book #005, Hadith #2179] “Abu Huraira reported ALLAH's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying that ALLAH said to him:"spend, I will bestow upon you." And the Messenger of ALLAH (may peace be upon him) said: The right hand of ALLAH is full and spending (the riches) liberally during day and night will not diminish (the resources of ALLAH). Don't you see what (an enormous amount of resources) He has spent since He created the heaven and the earth, and what is in His right hand has not decreased? His Throne is upon the water. And in His other hand is death, and He elevates and degrades (whom He likes).”

[Muslim, Book #005, Hadith #2205] “Abu Huraira reported ALLAH's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: There is never a day wherein servants (of God) get up at morn, but are not visited by two angels. One of them says: 0 ALLAH, give him more who spends (for the sake of ALLAH), and the other says: 0 ALLAH, bring destruction to one who withholds.”

[Muslim, Book #005, Hadith #2256] “Abu Umama reported ALLAH's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: 0 son of Adam, it is better for you if you spend your surplus (wealth), but if you withhold it, it is evil for you. There is (however) no reproach for you (if you withhold means necessary) for a living. And begin (charity) with your dependants; and the upper hand is better than the lower hand.”

[2:268-269]

Satan threatens poverty.....ALLAH GRANTS, BOUNTIES AND WISDOM

[ALLAH’S Quran - 2:268-269 – Farook Malik] “Satan threatens you with poverty and prompts you to commit what is indecent, while ALLAH promises you HIS forgiveness and bounties, and ALLAH has boundless knowledge. HE grants wisdom to whom HE pleases; and whoever is granted wisdom is indeed given a great wealth, yet none except people of understanding learn a lesson from it.”

The Prophet (pbuh) has said:

[BUKHARI, Book #3, Hadith #73] “Narrated 'Abdullah bin Mas'ud: The Prophet said, "Do not wish to be like anyone except in two cases. (The first is) A person, whom Allah has given wealth and he spends it righteously; (the second is) the one whom Allah has given wisdom (the Holy Qur'an) and he acts according to it and teaches it to others."

[MUSLIM, Book #004, Hadith #1779] “'Abdullah b. Mas'ud reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: There should be no envy but only in case of two persons: one having been endowed with wealth and power to spend it in the cause of Truth, and (the other) who has been endowed with wisdom and he decides cases with the help of it and teaches it (to others).”

[3:8]

OUR LORD! CAUSE NOT OUR HEARTS TO GO STRAY

[ALLAH’S Quran – 3:8 – Pickthall] “Our Lord! Cause not our hearts to stray after Thou hast guided us, and bestow upon us mercy from Thy Presence. Lo! Thou, only Thou, art the Bestower.”
The Prophet (pbuh) has said:

[Malik’s Muwatta, Book #3, Hadith #3.6.26] “Yahya related to me from Malik from Abu Ubayd, the mawla of Sulayman ibn Abd alMalik, from Ubada ibn Nusayy from Qays ibn al Harith that Abu Abdullah as-Sunabihi said, "I arrived in Madina in the khalifate of Abu Bakr as-Siddiq, and I prayed maghrib behind him. He recited the umm al Qur'an and two suras from the shorter ones of the mufassal in the first two rakas. Then he stood up in the third and I drew so near to him that my clothes were almost touching his clothes. I heard him reciting the umm al-Qur'an and this ayat, 'Our Lord, do not make our hearts go astray after You have guided us, and give us mercy from Your presence. Surely You are the Giver."

[3:16-17]

THOSE SAVED FROM THE PUNISHMENT OF HELL FIRE

[ALLAH’S Quran – 3:16-17 – Pickthall] “Those who say: Our Lord! Lo! we believe. So forgive us our sins and guard us from the punishment of Fire; The steadfast, and the truthful, and the obedient, those who spend (and hoard not), those who pray for pardon in the watches of the night.”

The Prophet (pbuh) has said:

[Bukhari, Book #46, Hadith #693] “Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, "Whoever frees a Muslim slave, Allah will save all the parts of his body from the (Hell) fire as he has freed the body-parts of the slave." Said bin Marjana said that he narrated that Hadith to 'Ali bin Al-Husain and he freed his slave for whom 'Abdullah bin Ja'far had offered him ten thousand Dirhams or one-thousand Dinars”

[Bukhari, Book #13, Hadith #30] “Narrated Abu 'Abs: I heard the Prophet saying, "Anyone whose feet are covered with dust in Allah's cause, shall be saved by Allah from the Hell-fire."

[Bukhari, Book #76, Hadith #547] “Narrated 'Adi bin Hatim: The Prophet said, "There will be none among you but will be talked to by Allah on the Day of Resurrection, without there being an interpreter between him and Him (Allah) . He will look and see nothing ahead of him, and then he will look (again for the second time) in front of him, and the (Hell) fire will confront him. So, whoever among you can save himself from the fire, should do so even with one half of a date (to give in charity)."

[Muslim, Book #009, Hadith #3605] “Abu Huraira (Allah be pleased with him) reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: A Muslim who emancipates a Muslim (slave). Allah will save from fire every limb of his for every limb (of the slave). Sa'id b. Marjana said: When I heard this hadith from Abu Huraira (Allah be pleased with him), I went away and made a mention of it to 'Ali b. Husain and he at once emancipated the slave for which Ibn ja'far was prepared to pay ten thousand dirhams or one thousand dinars.”

[3:79]

FAITHFUL SERVANTS OF ALLAH LEARN AND TEACH THE BOOK

[ALLAH’S Quran – 3:79 – Pickthall] “...........Be ye faithful servants of the Lord by virtue of your constant teaching of the Scripture and of your constant study thereof.”

The Prophet (pbuh) has said:

[Bukhari, Book #61, Hadith #545] “ Narrated 'Uthman: The Prophet said, "The best among you (Muslims) are those who learn the Qur'an and teach it."

[Bukhari, Book #92, Hadith #419] “Narrated 'Abdullah: Allah's Apostle said, "Do not wish to be like anybody except in two cases: The case of a man whom Allah has given wealth and he spends it in the right way, and that of a man whom Allah has given religious wisdom (i.e., Qur'an and Sunna) and he gives his verdicts according to it and teaches it." (to others i.e., religious knowledge of Qur'an and Sunna (Prophet's Traditions)."

[Bukhari, Book #3, Hadith #79] “Narrated Abu Musa: The Prophet said, "The example of guidance and knowledge with which Allah has sent me is like abundant rain falling on the earth, some of which was fertile soil that absorbed rain water and brought forth vegetation and grass in abundance. (And) another portion of it was hard and held the rain water and Allah benefited the people with it and they utilized it for drinking, making their animals drink from it and for irrigation of the land. (And) a portion of it was barren which could neither hold the water nor bring forth vegetation (then that land gave no benefits). The first is the example of the person who comprehends Allah's religion and gets benefit (from the knowledge) which Allah has revealed through me (the Prophets and learns and then teaches others. The last example is that of a person who does not care for it and does not take Allah's guidance revealed through me (He is like that barren land.)"

[Muslim, Book #035, Hadith #6518] “Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: He who alleviates the suffering of a brother out of the sufferings of the world, Allah would alleviate his suffering from the sufferings of the Day of Resurrection, and he who finds relief for one who is hard pressed, Allah would make things easy for him in the Hereafter, and he who conceals (the faults) of a Muslim, Allah would conceal his faults in the world and in the Hereafter. Allah is at the back of a servant so long as the servant is at the back of his brother, and he who treads the path in search of knowledge, Allah would make that path easy, leading to Paradise for him and those persons who assemble in the house among the houses of Allah (mosques) and recite the Book of Allah and they learn and teach the Qur'an (among themselves) there would descend upon them the tranquillity and mercy would cover them and the angels would surround them and Allah makes a mention of them in the presence of those near Him, and he who is slow-paced in doing good deeds, his (high) descent does not make him go ahead.

[Malik’s Muwatta, Book #9, Hadith #9.18.56] “Yahya related to me from Malik from Sumayy, the mawla of Abu Bakr, that Abu Bakr ibn Abd ar-Rahman used to say, "Someone who goes to the mosque in the morning or the afternoon with no intention of going anywhere else, either to learn good or teach it, is like someone who does jihad in the way of Allah and returns with booty."

[3:89]

ALLAH, THE EXALTED – ALL FORGIVING, ALL MERCIFUL

[ALLAH’S Quran – 3:89 – Syed Vickar Ahamed] " Except for those who repent and after that, make changes (in their actions); Surely, Allah is Often Forgiving (Ghafoor), Most Merciful (Raheem).”

The Prophet (pbuh) has said:

[Bukhari, Book #93, Hadith #485] “Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Amr: Abu Bakr As-Siddiq said to the Prophet "O Allah's Apostle! Teach me an invocation with which I may invoke Allah in my prayers." The Prophet said, "Say: O Allah! I have wronged my soul very much (oppressed myself), and none forgives the sins but You; so please bestow Your Forgiveness upon me. No doubt, You are the Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful."

[Sunan Abudawud, Book #14, Hadith #2596] “Narrated Ali ibn AbuTalib: Ali ibn Rabi'ah said: I was present with Ali while a beast was brought to him to ride. When he put his foot in the stirrup, he said: "In the name of Allah." Then when he sat on its back, he said: "Praise be to Allah." He then said: "Glory be to Him Who has made this subservient to us, for we had not the strength, and to our Lord do we return." He then said: "Praise be to Allah (thrice); Allah is Most Great (thrice): glory be to Thee, I have wronged myself, so forgive me, for only Thou forgivest sins." He then laughed. He was asked: At what did you laugh? He replied: I saw the Apostle of Allah (pbuh) do as I have done, and laugh after that. I asked: Apostle of Allah , at what are you laughing? He replied: Your Lord, Most High, is pleased with His servant when he says: "Forgive me my sins." He know that no one forgives sins except Him.”

[3:92]

NO RIGHTEOUSNESS UNTIL YOU SPEND OUT OF WHAT YOU LOVE MOST

[ALLAH’S Quran– 3:92 - Shakir] “By no means shall you attain to righteousness until you spend (benevolently) out of what you love; and whatever thing you spend, Allah surely knows it."

[Hadith – Bukhari, Book #69, Hadith #515] “Narrated Anas bin Malik: Abu Talha had the largest number of datepalms from amongst the Ansars of Medina. The dearest of his property to him was Bairuha garden which was facing the (Prophet's) Mosque. Allah's Apostle used to enter it and drink of its good fresh water. When the Holy Verse:-- 'By no means shall you attain righteousness unless you spend (in charity) of that which you love.' (3.92) was revealed, Abu Talha got up and said, "O Allah's Apostle! Allah says: By no means shall you attain righteousness unless you spend of that which you love,' and the dearest of my property to me is the Bairuha garden and I want to give it in charity in Allah's Cause, seeking to be rewarded by Allah for that. So you can spend it, O Allah's Apostle, where-ever Allah instructs you. ' Allah s Apostle said, "Good! That is a perishable (or profitable) wealth" ('Abdullah is in doubt as to which word was used.) He said, "I have heard what you have said but in my opinion you'd better give it to your kith and kin." On that Abu Talha said, "I will do so, O Allah's Apostle!" Abu Talha distributed that garden among his kith and kin and cousins.”

[Muslim, Book #005, Hadith #2185] “Anas b. Malik is reported as saying: Abu Talha was the one among the Ansar of Medina who possessed the largest property and among his property he valued most was his garden known as Bairaha' which was opposite the mosque, and the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) often visited it and he drank of its sweet water. When this verse was revealed:" You will never attain righteousness till you give freely of what you Have" (iii. 91), Abu Talha got up and, going to Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him), said: Allah says in His Book:" You will never attain righteousness till you give freely of what you love," and the dearest of my property is Bairaha' so I give it as Sadaqa to God from Whom I hope for reward for it and the treasure with Allah; so spend it, Messenger of Allah, on whatever purpose you deem it proper. The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said: Bravo I that is profit earning property. I have heard what you have said, but I think you should spend it on your nearest relatives. So Abu Talha distributed it among the neatest relatives and his cousins on his father's side.”

[3:96]

FIRST AND INVIOLABLE PLACE OF WORSHIP - The Ka'aba

[ALLAH’S Quran - 3:96 – Al-Muntakhab] “The first house devoted specifically for divine worship and appropriated to assemblies for the adoration of Allah with appropriate acts and rites was the house founded in Bakkah (Macca). It has been blessed with the spirit of truth guiding all beings into all truth”

[3:96 – Commentary - Asad] All authorities agree that this name is synonymous with Mecca (which, correctly transliterated, is spelt Makkah). Various etymologies have been suggested for this very ancient designation; but the most plausible explanation is given by Zamakhshari (and supported by Razi): in some old Arabic dialects the labial consonants b and m, being phonetically close to one another, are occasionally interchangeable. The mention, in this context, of the Temple in Mecca - that is, the Ka'bah - arises from the fact that it is the direction of prayer (qiblah) stipulated in the Qur'an. Since the prototype of the Ka`bah was built by Abraham and Ishmael (see 2:125 ff.) - and is, therefore, much older than the Temple of Solomon in Jerusalem - its establishment as the qiblah of the followers of the Qur'an does not only imply any break with the Abrahamic tradition (on which, ultimately, the whole Bible rests), but, on the contrary, re-establishes the direct contact with that Patriarch: and herein lies the answer to the second of the two Jewish objections mentioned in note 73 above.

[3:96 – Commentary - Pooya/Ali] “See commentary of al Ahzab: 33 for the first house (awwala baytin). Also refer to Baqrah: 125, 127 and al Hajj: 29, 33. Bakka is a variant for Makka, either derived from tabakk i.e. press one another in a crowd, or bakk i.e. break one's neck, because whenever it was attacked by an invader his neck had been broken-defeated and crushed. Another version is that Bakka means the holy house of Kabah, a guidance unto the worlds. Mubarakan means rich in blessings; abounding in good.”

[3:122]

IN ALLAH ALONE BELIEVERS PUT THEIR TRUST

[ALLAH'S Quran - 3:122 - Taqi Usmani]  "When two of your groups were about to lose heart, while Allah was their guardian! It is in Allah alone that the believers must place their trust."

The Prophet (pbuh) has said:

[Bukhari, Book #93, Hadith #580] “Narrated Al-Bara' bin 'Azib: Allah's Apostle said, "O so-and-so, whenever you go to your bed (for sleeping) say, 'O Allah! I have surrendered myself over to you and have turned my face towards You, and leave all my affairs to You and depend on You and put my trust in You expecting Your reward and fearing Your punishment. There is neither fleeing from You nor refuge but with You. I believe in the Book (Qur'an) which You have revealed and in Your Prophet (Muhammad) whom You have sent.' If you then die on that night, then you will die as a Muslim, and if you wake alive in the morning then you will receive the reward."

[3:133]

EXCEL IN SEEKING ALLAH’S FORGIVENESS

[ALLAH’S Quran – 3:133 – Pickthall] “And vie one with another for forgiveness from your Lord, and for a paradise as wide as are the heavens and the earth, prepared for those who ward off (evil);”

Emulate PROPHET’S Example:

[MUSLIM, Book #004, Hadith #0984] “ 'A'isha reported: The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) recited often these words: Hallowed beAllah and with His praise, I seek the forgiveness of Allah and return to Him. She said: I asked: Messenger of Allah, I see that you often repeat the saying" subhan Allahi bihamdihi astag firullahi watubuilaih" whereupon he said: My Lord informed me that I would soon see a sign in my Ummah, so when I see it I often recite (these) words: Hallowed be Allah and with His Praise, I seek forgiveness of Allah and return to Him. Indeed I saw it (when this verse) was revealed:" When Allah's help and victory came, it marked the victory of Mecca, and you see people entering into Allah's religion in troops, celebrate the praise of Thy Lord and ask His forgiveness. Surely He is ever returning to Mercy."

[3:134]

MORAL EXCELLENCE AND BENEVOLENCE OF THE HEART IN ISLAM

Allah likes those who perfect their illustrious toils and turn their thoughts on moral excellence and benevolence.

[ALLAH'S Quran - 3:134 – Amatul Rahman Omar] “Those who spend (in the cause of Allah) in prosperity and adversity and those who suppress anger and pardon (the offences of) the people. And Allah loves such doers of good to others”

Messenger of ALLAH [PBUH] has said “The best of the deeds are love and hate for the sake of ALLAH, The Exalted."

[Sunan Abudawud, Book #40, Hadith #4664 ] “Narrated Abu Umamah: The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: If anyone loves for Allah's sake, hates forAllah's sake, gives for Allah's sake and withholds for Allah's sake, he will have perfect faith.

[Bukhari, Book #2, Hadith #20] “Narrated Anas: The Prophet said, "Whoever possesses the following three qualities will taste the sweetness of faith: 1. The one to whom Allah and His Apostle become dearer than anything else. 2. Who loves a person and he loves him only for All ah's sake. 3. Who hates to revert to disbelief (Atheism) after Allah has brought (saved) him out from it, as he hates to be thrown in fire."

[Muslim, Book #001, Hadith #0138 ] “Al-Bara reported it from the Apostle (may peace and blessing be upon him) that he observed with regard to the Ansar, None but the believer loves them, none but the hypocrite hates them. He who loved them loved Allah and he who hated them hated Allah. I (the narrator) said: Did you hear this hadith from al-Bara'? He said: To me, he narrated it.

[3:139]

DO NOT LOOSE HEART OR GRIEVE

[ALLAH’S Quran – 3:139 – Qadri] “And do not lose heart nor feel grieved; and it is you who will be victorious, provided you maintain (perfect) faith.”

[Bukhari, Book #57, Hadith #4] “........I used to keep for Allah's Apostle a leather water-container, the mouth of which was covered with a piece of cloth. I poured water on the milk container till its lower part was cold. Then I took the milk to the Prophet whom I found awake. I said to him, 'Drink, O Allah's Apostle.' So he drank till I became pleased. Then I said, 'It is time for us to move, O Allahs Apostle!' He said, 'Yes.' So we set out while the people (i.e. Quraish pagans) were searching for us, but none found us except Suraiqa bin Malik bin Jushum who was riding his horse. I said, 'These are our pursuers who have found us. O Allah's Apostle!' He said, 'Do not grieve, for Allah is with us”

ALLAH REWARDS THE GRATEFUL

[ALLAH’S Quran - 3:145 – Yusuf Ali] “Nor can a soul die except by Allah's leave, the term being fixed as by writing. If any do desire a reward in this life, We shall give it to him; and if any do desire a reward in the Hereafter, We shall give it to him. And swiftly shall We reward those that (serve us with) gratitude.”

[Commentary Yusuf Ali] “There is a slight touch of irony in this. As applied to the archers at Uhud, who deserted their post for the sake of plunder, they might have got some plunder, but they put themselves and the whole of their army into jeopardy. For a little worldly gain, they nearly lost their souls. On the other hand, those who took the long view and fought with staunchness and discipline - their reward was swift and sure. If they died, they got the crown of martyrdom. If they lived, they were heroes honoured in this life and the next.”

[3:175]

FEAR ALLAH ALONE, IF INDEED YOU ARE BELIEVERS

[ALLAH'S Quran - 3:175 - Ibn Kathir] "It is only Shaytan that suggests to you the fear of his friends; so fear them not, but fear Me, if you are indeed believers."

[Bukhari, Book #2, Hadith #19] "Narrated 'Aisha: Whenever ALLAH's Apostle ordered the Muslims to do something, he used to order them deeds which were easy for them to do, (according to their strength endurance). They said, "O ALLAH's Apostle! We are not like you. ALLAH has forgiven your past and future sins." So ALLAH's Apostle became angry and it was apparent on his face. He said, "I am the most ALLAH fearing, and know ALLAH better than all of you do."

[3:185]

ON THE DAY OF JUDGEMENT EVERYONE WILL BE PAID FULL RECOMPENSE.................

[ALLAH'S Quran - 3:185 – Yusuf Ali] “Every soul shall have a taste of death: And only on the Day of Judgment shall you be paid your full recompense. Only he who is saved far from the Fire and admitted to the Garden will have attained the object (of Life): For the life of this world is but goods and chattels of deception.”

[Bukhari, Book #76, Hadith#470] "Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, "the deeds of anyone of you will not save you (from the (Hell)fire)." they said, "Even you (will not be saved by your deeds), O Allah's Apostle?" He said, "No, even I (will not be saved) unless and until Allah bestows His Mercy on me. therefore, do good deeds properly, sincerely and moderately, and worship Allah in the forenoon and in the afternoon and during a part of the night, and always adopt a middle, moderate, regular course whereby you will reach your target (Paradise)."

[3:189]

ALLAH, The Exalted HAS Power over all things (matters):

[ALLAH'S Quran 3:189 – Shakir] “And Allah's is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth, and Allah has power over all things.”

[Bukhari, Book #54, Hadith #514] "Narrated Abu Huraira: allah's Apostle said, "If one says one-hundred times in one day: "None has the right to be worshipped but allah, the Alone Who has no partners, to Him belongs Dominion and to Him belong all the Praises, and He has power over all things (i.e. Omnipotent)", one will get the reward of manumitting ten slaves, and one-hundred good deeds will be written in his account, and one-hundred bad deeds will be wiped off or erased from his account, and on that day he will be protected from the morning till evening from Satan, and nobody will be superior to him except one who has done more than that which he has done."

[3:195]

Criterion of Gender Equality, Established by ALLAH, The Exalted

[ALLAH’S Quran - 3:195 – Yusuf Ali] “...............Never will I suffer to be lost the work of any of you, be he male or female: ...................”

[3:195 - Commentary – Yusuf Ali] “In Islam the equal status of the sexes is not only recognised but insisted on.”

[3:195 - Commentary – Ibn Kathir] “Sa`id bin Mansur recorded that Salamah, a man from the family of Umm Salamah said, "`O Messenger of Allah! Allah does not mention women in connection with Hijrah (Migration).' Allah sent down the Ayah, (So their Lord accepted of them (their supplication and answered them), "Never will I allow to be lost the work of any of you, be he male or female. The Ansar say that Umm Salamah was the first woman to migrate to them.'' Al-Hakim collected this Hadith in his Mustadrak, and said, "It is Sahih according to the criteria of Al-Bukhari but they (Al-Bukhari and Muslim) did not collect it''. Allah's statement, ("Never will I allow to be lost the work of any of you, be he male or female,) explains the type of answer Allah gave them, stating that no deed of any person is ever lost with Him. Rather, He will completely reward each person for his or her good deeds. Allah's statement, (You are (members) one of another) means, you are all equal in relation to gaining My reward.

[3:200]

ALLAH, THE EXALTED, COMMANDS ENDURANCE [صبر]

[ALLAH’S Quran – 3:200 – Pickthall] “O ye who believe! Endure, outdo all others in endurance, be ready, and observe your duty to Allah, in order that ye may succeed.”

[Muslim, Book #007, Hadith #3181] “Yuhannis, the freed slave of Zubair, narrated that when he was sitting with Abdullah b. 'Umar (Allah be pleased with him) during the days of turmoil, his freed slave-girl came to him. After saluting him she said: Abu Abd al-Rahmin, I have decided to leave (Medina) for the time is hard for us, whereupon Abdullah said to her: Stay here, foolish lady, for I have heard Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: For one who shows endurance on the hardships and rigour of it (of Medina) I would be an intercessor or a witness on his behalf on the Day of Resurrection.”

[4:31]

ALLAH, THE EXALTED, ERASES SMALL SINS, IF YOU AVOID MAJOR SINS

[ALLAH'S Quran - 4:31 – Al-Muntakhab] “If you avoid and refrain from committing the major sins which have been forbidden unto you, We will grant you remission for your iniquities and admit you into favour and grant you an honourable entry into the realm of bliss and the beatitude of heaven.”

The PROPHET (pbuh) has said:

{Excerpted from Ibn Kathir Commentary for [4:31]}

“Imam Ahmad recorded that Salman Al-Farisi said, "The Prophet said to me, `Do you know what the day of Al-Jumu`ah is' I said, `It is the day during which Allah brought together the creation of your father (Adam).' He said, (I know what the day of Jumu`ah is. Anyone who takes a bath and cleans himself as much as he can and then proceeds for the Friday prayer and remains quiet until the Imam finishes the prayer, all his sins in between the present and the next Friday will be forgiven, as long as major sins were avoided.)''

[BUKHARI - Book #51, Hadith #28] “Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, "Avoid the seven great destructive sins." The people enquire, "O Allah's Apostle! What are they? "He said, "To join others in worship along with Allah, to practice sorcery, to kill the life which Allah has forbidden except for a just cause, (according to Islamic law), to eat up Riba (usury), to eat up an orphan's wealth, to give back to the enemy and fleeing from the battlefield at the time of fighting, and to accuse, chaste women, who never even think of anything touching chastity and are good believers.”

[BUKHARI - Book #34, Hadith #267] “Narrated An-Nu'man bin Bashir: The Prophet said "Both legal and illegal things are obvious, and in between them are (suspicious) doubtful matters. So who-ever forsakes those doubtful things lest he may commit a sin, will definitely avoid what is clearly illegal; and who-ever indulges in these (suspicious) doubtful things bravely, is likely to commit what is clearly illegal. sins are Allah's Hima (i.e. private pasture) and whoever pastures (his sheep) near it, is likely to get in it at any moment."

[4:34]

VIOLENCE AGAINST SPOUSES FORBIDDEN IN ISLAM

[Quran 4:34 – Yahiya Emerik] “"Men are responsible for the welfare of women since God has given some (of you) more wherewithal than others, and because they must spend of their wealth (to maintain the family). Therefore pious and devout women safeguard the private matters that God would have them safeguard. As for those (women) from whom you fear aggressive defiance, caution them (to piety). (If they remain unmoved by your words), then leave them alone in their beds, and finally (if they continue in their aggressive defiance), then separate from them. However, if they accede to you (by abandoning their aggressively defiant behaviour), then you have no (legitimate) grounds to act against them (any further), and God is full of knowledge and greatness."

Prophet of Islam (pbuh) forbade wife beating:

[Hadith – Sunan Abudawud, Book #11, Hadith #2138] “Narrated Mu'awiyah ibn Haydah: I said: Apostle of Allah, how should we approach our wives and how should we leave them? He replied: Approach your tilth when or how you will, give her (your wife) food when you take food, clothe when you clothe yourself, do not revile her face, and do not beat her.

[Sunan Abudawud, Book #12, Hadith #2220] “Narrated Aisha, Ummul Mu'minin: Habibah daughter of Sahl was the wife of Thabit ibn Qays Shimmas He beat her and broke some of her part. So she came to the Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) after morning, and complained to him against her husband. The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) called on Thabit ibn Qays and said (to him): Take a part of her property and separate yourself from her. He asked: Is that right, Apostle of Allah? He said: Yes. He said: I have given her two gardens of mine as a dower, and they are already in her possession. The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: Take them and separate yourself from her."

[4:36]

SERVE ALLAH, ALONE

[ALLAH’S Quran - 4:36 – Dr Munshey] “Serve Allah, and associate no one with Him. Be kind and gracious to your parents; (also be kind) to the kinsfolk, the orphans, the needy, the neighbour who is a kin as well as the one who is not, the fellow traveller, the wayfarer and the slaves (and captives). Of course, Allah does not like the conceited braggarts.”

[Bukhari, Book #48, Hadith #822] “Narrated Abu Bakra: The Prophet said thrice, "Should I inform you out the greatest of the great sins?" They said, "Yes, O Allah's Apostle!" He said, "To join others in worship with Allah and to be undutiful to one's parents." The Prophet then sat up after he had been reclining (on a pillow) and said, "And I warn you against giving a false witness, and he kept on saying that warning till we thought he would not stop.”

[4:36]

FOUNDATIONS OF MORAL EXCELLENCE

[4:36] – Umm Muhammad] “Worship Allah and associate nothing with Him, and to parents do good, and to relatives, orphans, the needy, the near neighbour, the neighbour farther away, the companion at your side, the traveller, and those whom your right hands possess. Indeed, Allah does not like those who are self-deluding and boastful.”

The PROPHET has said:

[PARENTS] – [HADITH –Bukhari, Book #52, Hadith #41] “Narrated Abdullah bin Masud: I asked Allah's Apostle, "O Allah's Apostle! What is the best deed?" He replied, "To offer the prayers at their early stated fixed times." I asked, "What is next in goodness?" He replied, "To be good and dutiful to your parents." I further asked, what is next in goodness?" He replied, "To participate in Jihad in Allah's Cause." I did not ask Allah's Apostle anymore and if I had asked him more, he would have told me more.”

[NEIGHBOURS & GUESTS] – [HADITH, Malik’s Muwatta, Book #49, Hadith #49.10.22] “Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should be generous to his neighbour. Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, should be generous to his guest. His welcome is for a day and a night, and his hospitality is for three days.”

[CHILDREN] – [HADITH – Muslim, Book #030, Hadith #5736] “Abu Huraira reported that al-Aqra' b. Habis saw Allah's Apostle (may peace be upon him) kissing Hasan. He said: I have ten children, but I have never kissed any one of them, whereupon Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) said: He who does not show mercy (towards his children), no mercy would be shown to him.”

[ORPHANS] – [HADITH – Malik’s Muwatta, Book #17, Hadith #17.6.14] “Yahya related to me from Malik that he had heard that A'isha, the wife of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, used to give the property of the orphans that were in her house to whoever would use it to trade with on their behalf.”

[ARROGANT] – [HADITH – Bukhari, Book #60, Hadith #440] “Narrated Haritha bin Wahb Al-Khuzai: I heard the Prophet saying. ........And may I inform you of the people of the Hell-Fire? They are all those violent, arrogant and stubborn people."

[4:40]

NO INJUSTICE FROM ALLAH

[ALLAH’S Quran – 4:40 – Umm Muhammad] “Indeed, Allah does not do injustice, [even] as much as an atom's weight; while if there is a good deed, He multiplies it and gives from Himself a great reward.”

The Prophet (pbuh) has said:

[Bukhari, Book #93, Hadith #592] “Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, "Allah says, "If My slave intends to do a bad deed then (O Angels) do not write it unless he does it; if he does it, then write it as it is, but if he refrains from doing it for My Sake, then write it as a good deed (in his account). (On the other hand) if he intends to go a good deed, but does not do it, then write a good deed (in his account), and if he does it, then write it for him (in his account) as ten good deeds up to seven-hundred times.”

[Bukhari, Book #2, Hadith #40] “Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, "If any one of you improve (follows strictly) his Islamic religion then his good deeds will be rewarded ten times to seven hundred times for each good deed and a bad deed will be recorded as it is."

[Muslim, Book #001, Hadith #0234] “It is narrated on the authority of Abu Huraira that the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) observed: Allah, the Great and Glorious, said: Whenever my bondsman intends to do good, but does not do it, I write one good act for him, but if he puts it into practice I wrote from ten to seven hundred good deeds in favour of him. When he intends to commit an evil, but does not actually do it, do not record it. But if he does it, I write only one evil.”

[Muslim, Book #041, Hadith #7039] “Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) having said: Hasten to do good deedsbefore six things happen: the rising of the sun from the west, the smoke, the Dajjal, the beast and (the death) of one of you or the general turmoil.”

[Abudawud, Book #41, Hadith #5059] “Narrated Abu Ayyash: The Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) said: If anyone says in the morning: "There is no god but Allah alone Who has no partner; to Him belong the dominions, to Him praise is due, and He is Omnipotent," he will have a reward equivalent to that for setting free a slave from among the descendants of Isma'il. He will have ten good deeds recorded for him, ten evil deeds deducted from him, he will be advanced ten degrees, and will be guarded from the Devil till the evening. If he says them in the evening, he will have a similar recompense till the morning. The version of Hammad says: A man saw the Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) in a dream and said: Apostle of Allah! Abu Ayyash is relating such and such on your authority. He said: Abu Ayyash has spoken the truth.”

[4:58]

ALLAH’S COMMAND --- BE JUST

[ALLAH’S Quran – [4:58] – Al-Muntakhab] “...And exercise justice when you sit in judgement upon people, and be consonant with the principles of moral right and in accordance with reason and fact. Allah enjoins only what is right and sound; how morally excellent is what He exhorts you to do; Allah has always been Sami’un with (unlimited audition), and Bassirun, (He sees all that you do).”

[Muslim, Book #020, Hadith #4493] “It has been narrated on the authority of 'Abdullah b. 'Umar that the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said: Behold! the Dispensers of justice will be seated on the pulpits of light beside God, on the right side of the Merciful, Exalted and Glorious. Either side of the Being is the right side both being equally meritorious. (The Dispensers of justice are) those who do justice in their rules, in matters relating to their families and in all that they undertake to do.”

[Sunan Abudawud, Book #24, Hadith #3568] “Narrated Abu Hurayrah: The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: If anyone seeks the office of judge among Muslims till he gets it and his justice prevails over his tyranny, he will go to Paradise; but the man whose tyranny prevails over his justice will go to Hell.”

[4:59]

OBEY ALLAH AND OBEY HIS MESSENGER

[Quran - [4:59] - Amatul Rahman Omar] “O you who believe! obey Allah and obey (His) Messenger and those who are in authority among you (to decide your affairs). And should you differ among yourselves in anything, refer it to Allah and His Messenger (and judge according to their teachings), if indeed you believe in Allah and the Last Day. That is (in your) best (interests) and most commendable in the long run.”

The PROPHET (pbuh) has said:

[Malik’s Muwatta, Book #46, Hadith #46.1.3] “Yahya related to me from Malik that he heard that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "I have left two matters with you. As long as you hold to them, you will not go the wrong way. They are the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Prophet."

[Sunan Abudawud, Book #40, Hadith#4590] “..........You must then follow my Sunnah and that of the rightly-guided caliphs. Hold to it and stick fast to it. Avoid novelties, for every novelty is an innovation, and every innovation is an error.”

[Commentary – 4:59 – Ibn Kathir] “(Obey Allah and obey the Messenger, and those of you who are in authority.) "Was revealed about `Abdullah bin Hudhafah bin Qays bin `Adi, who the Messenger of Allah sent on a military expedition.'' This statement was collected by the Group, with the exception of Ibn Majah At-Tirmidhi said, "Hasan, Gharib''. Imam Ahmad recorded that `Ali said, "The Messenger of Allah sent a troop under the command of a man from Al-Ansar. When they left, he became angry with them for some reason and said to them, `Has not the Messenger of Allah commanded you to obey me' They said, `Yes.' He said, `Collect some wood,' and then he started a fire with the wood, saying, `I command you to enter the fire.' The people almost entered the fire, but a young man among them said, `You only ran away from the Fire to Allah's Messenger. Therefore, do not rush until you go back to Allah's Messenger, and if he commands you to enter it, then enter it.' When they went back to Allah's Messenger , they told him what had happened, and the Messenger said, (Had you entered it, you would never have departed from it. Obedience is only in righteousness.)'' This Hadith is recorded in the Two Sahihs.”

[4:69]

ALL THOSE WHO OBEY ALLAH AND HIS MESSENGER – IN THE COMPANY OF THE BLESSED

[ALLAH’S Quran – [4:69] – Al_Muntakhab] “He who obeys Allah and His Messenger shall be a recipient of Allah's mercy and blessings. Such persons shall be placed in the distinguished position of those in whom all divine grace abounds: the Prophets, the veracious, the martyrs and the pious in a world perverse, and how celebrated is the society.”

The PROPHET (pbuh) has said:

[Muslim, Book #020, Hadith #4519] “It has been narrated on the authority of Abu Huraira that the Messenger of ALLAH (may peace be upon him) said: Whoso obeys me obeys God; and whose disobeys me disobeys God. Whoso obeys my commander obeys me, and whoso disobeys my commander disobeys me.”

[4:69 – Commentary – Yusuf Ali] “A passage of the deepest spiritual meaning. Even the humblest man who accepts Faith and does good becomes at once an accepted member of a great and beautiful spiritual Fellowship. It is a company which lives perpetually in the sunshine of God’s Grace. (This passage partly illustrates 1:5). It is a glorious hierarchy, of which four grades are specified: (1) The highest is that of the Prophets or Apostles, who get plenary inspiration from God, and who teach mankind by example and precept. That rank in Islam is held by Muḥammad Mustafa. (2) The next are those whose badge is sincerity and truth; they love and support the truth with their person, their means, their influence, and all that is theirs. That rank was held by the special companions of Muḥammad, among whom the type was that of Abū Bakr Siddiq. (3) The next are the noble army of Witnesses, who testify to the truth. The testimony may be by martyrdom, as in the case of Imāms Ḥasan and Ḥusain. Or it may be by the tongue of the true preacher or the pen of the devoted scholar, or the life of the man devoted to service. (4) Lastly, there is the large company of righteous people, the ordinary folk who do their ordinary business, but always in a righteous way. They are the rank and file of the beautiful Fellowship, in which each has his place and yet all feel that they derive glory from the common association, (Cf. 29:9).

[4:86]

ACKNOWLEDGE THE GREETING WITH A MORE COURTEOUS RECOGNITION

[ALLAH’S Quran 4:86 – Al-Muntakhab] “When you are greeted with words or gestures, acknowledge the greeting with a more courteous recognition or at least return the same formula; it is an obligation. Allah has always taken account of all things and all actions.”

[Hadith - Al-Muwatta, Volume 47, Hadith 16] “The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "Shake hands and rancor will disappear. Give presents to each other and love each other, and enmity will disappear."

[4:92-93]

KILLING OF THE INNOCENT, EARNS ALLAH’S ETERNAL WRATH

[ALLAH’S Quran – 4:92-93 - Asad] “AND IT IS not conceivable that a believer should slay another believer, unless it be by mistake......................... But whoever deliberately slays another believer, his requital shall be hell, therein to abide; and God will condemn him, and will reject him, and will prepare for him awesome suffering.”

The Prophet (pbuh) has said:

[Muslim, Book #020, Hadith #4555] “............Whoso attacks my Umma (indiscriminately) killing the righteous and the wicked of them, sparing not (even) those staunch in faith and fulfilling not his promise made with those who have been given a pledge of security-he has nothing to do with me and I have nothing to do with him.”

[Bukhari, Book #58, Hadith #233] “Narrated 'Ubada bin As Samit: I was one of the Naqibs who gave the ('Aqaba) Pledge of Allegiance to Allah's Apostle . We gave the pledge of allegiance to him that we would not worship anything other than Allah, would not steal, would not commit illegal sexual intercourse, would not kill a person whose killing Allah has made illegal except rightfully, would not rob each other, and we would not be promised Paradise jf we did the above sins, then if we committed one of the above sins, Allah will give His Judgment concerning it.”

[Muslim, Book #017, Hadith #4238] “Ubida b. as-Samit repnrted: I was one of those headmen who swore allegiance to Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) that we will not associate anything with Allah, and will not commit adultery, and will not steal, and will not kill any soul which Allah has forbidden, but with justice nor plunder, nor disobey (Allah and His Apostle), then Paradise (will be the reward) in case we do these (acts) ; and if we commit any outrage (and that goes unpunished in the world), it is Allah Who would decide about it. Ibn Rumh said: Its judgment lies with Allah.”

[Sunan Abudawud, Book #14, Hadith #2526] “Narrated Anas ibn Malik: The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: Three things are the roots of faith: to refrain from (killing) a person who utters, "There is no god but Allah" and not to declare him unbeliever whatever sin he commits, and not to excommunicate him from Islam for his any action; and jihad will be performed continuously since the day Allah sent me as a prophet until the day the last member of my community will fight with the Dajjal (Antichrist). The tyranny of any tyrant and the justice of any just (ruler) will not invalidate it. One must have faith in Divine decree.”

[4:118-119

Satan TEMPTS BELIEVERS WITH FALSE DESIRES

[ALLAH’S Quran 4:118-119 – Taqi Usmani] “whom Allah has cursed. He (the Satan) said; Surely I will take an appointed share from Your slaves, and I will lead them astray, and I will tempt them with false hopes, and I will command them, whereby they shall slit the ears of cattle, and I will command them, whereby they shall alter the creation of Allah. Whoever takes the Satan for friend, instead of Allah, incurs an obvious loss.”

The Prophet (pbuh) has said:

[Bukhari, Book #72, Hadith #815] “ Narrated 'Abdullah: ALLAH has cursed those women who practise tattooing and those who get themselves tattooed, and those who remove their face hairs, and those who create a space between their teeth artificially to look Beautiful, and such women as change the features created by ALLAH. Why then should I not curse those whom the Prophet has cursed? And that is in ALLAH's Book. i.e. His Saying: 'And what the Apostle gives you take it and what he forbids you abstain (from it).' (59.7)

[Bukhari, Book #34, Hadith#299] “Narrated 'Aun bin Abu Juhaifa: My father bought a slave who practiced the profession of cupping. (My father broke the slave's instruments of cupping). I asked my father why he had done so. He replied, "The Prophet forbade the acceptance of the price of a dog or blood, and also forbade the profession of tattooing, getting tattooed and receiving or giving Riba, (usury), and cursed the picture-makers."

[4:122]

DEEDS, FOR ENTRY TO PARADISE

[ALLAH’S Quran – 4:122 – Munir Munshey]
“As for those who have faith and do righteous deeds, We shall soon admit them to gardens beneath which rivers flow to live therein forever. This is the promise of Allah, true indeed, and who can be truer in his words than Allah?

The Prophet (pbuh) has said:

[Hadith – Bukhari, Book #23, Hadith #480] “Narrated Abu Huraira: A Bedouin came to the Prophet and said, "Tell me of such a deed as will make me enter paradise, if I do it." The Prophet (p.b.u.h) said, "Worship Allah, and worship none along with Him, offer the (five) prescribed compulsory prayers perfectly, pay the compulsory zakat, and fast the month of Ramadan." The Bedouin said, "By Him, in Whose Hands my life is, I will not do more than this." When he (the Bedouin) left, the Prophet said, "Whoever likes to see a man of paradise, then he may look at this man.”

[Hadith - Muslim, Book #001, Hadith #0014] “It is reported on the authority of Abu Huraira that a bedouin came to the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) and said: Messenger of Allah, direct me to a deed by which I may be entitled to enter paradise. Upon this he (the Holy Prophet) remarked: You worship Allah and never associate anything with Him, establish the obligatory prayer, and pay the zakat which is incumbent upon you, and observe the fast of Ramadan. He (the bedouin) said: By Him in Whose hand is my life, I will never add anything to it, nor will I diminish anything from it. When he (the bedouin) turned his back, the Prophet (may peace be upon him) said: He who is pleased to see a man from the dwellers of paradise should catch a glimpse of him.”

[4:135]

ALLAH’S COMMAND ..... BE JUST

[ALLAH'S Quran -4:135 – Ali Unal] “O you who believe! Be upholders and standard-bearers of justice, bearing witness to the truth for God’s sake, even though it be against your own selves, or parents or kindred. Whether the person concerned be rich or poor, (bear in mind that) God is nearer to them (than you are and more concerned with their well-being). So do not (in expectation of some gain from the rich or out of misplaced compassion for the poor) follow your own desires lest you swerve from justice. If you distort (the truth) or decline (to bear truthful witness), then know that God is fully aware of all that you do.”

[Bukhari - Book #89, Hadith #292] “Narrated Um Salama: (the wife of the Prophet) Allah's Apostle heard some people quarreling at the door of his dwelling, so he went out to them and said, "I am only a human being, and litigants with cases of dispute come to me, and someone of you may happen to be more eloquent (in presenting his case) than the other, whereby I may consider that he is truthful and pass a judgment in his favor. If ever I pass a judgment in favor of somebody whereby he takes a Muslim's right unjustly, then whatever he takes is nothing but a piece of Fire, and it is up to him to take or leave."

[Muslim - Book #040, Hadith #6853] “ 'Iyad b. Him-ar reported that Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him), while delivering a sermon one day, said: ........ The inmates of Paradise are three: One who wields authority and is just and fair, one who Is truthful and has been endowed with power to do good deeds. And the person who is merciful and kind hearted towards his relatives and to every pious Muslim, and one who does not stretch his hand in spite of having a large family to support. ......”

[4:136]

DENIERS – FAR ASTRAY

[ALLAH’S Quran - 4:136 – Asad] “O you who have attained to faith! Hold fast unto your belief in God and His Apostle, and in the divine writ which He has bestowed from on high upon His Apostle, step by step, as well as in the revelation which He sent down afore time: for he who denies God, and His angels, and His revelations, and His apostles, and the Last Day, has indeed gone far astray.”

[Bukhari, Book #2, Hadith #35] “Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, "The person who participates in ALLAH's cause and nothing compels him to do so except belief in ALLAH and His Apostles, will be recompensed by ALLAH either with a reward, or booty (if he survives) or will be admitted to Paradise (if he is killed in the battle as a martyr). Had I not found it difficult for my followers, then I would not remain behind any sariya going for Jihad and I would have loved to be martyred in ALLAH's cause and then made alive, and then martyred and then made alive, and then again martyred in His cause."

[4:152]

ALLAH'S COMMAND

Make No Distinction between ALLAH'S Messengers

[ALLAH'S Quran - 4:152 - Shakir] "And those who believe in Allah and His messengers and do not make a distinction between any of them-- Allah will grant them their rewards; and Allah is Forgiving, Merciful."

PROPHET OF ISLAM'S COMMAND

"Don't give superiority to any prophet amongst Allah's Prophets"

[Sunan ibn Majah, Book of Asceticism, Number 4274] "Whoever says that I am better than Jonah son of Mata has told a lie."

[Bukhari, Book 5, Number 627] "No servant should say that I am better than Jonah son of Mata."

[Bukhari, Book #55, Hadith #626] "Narrated Abu Huraira: Once while a Jew was selling something, he was offered a price that he was not pleased with. So, he said, "No, by Him Who gave Moses superiority over all human beings!" Hearing him, an Ansari man got up and slapped him on the face and said, "You say: By Him Who Gave Moses superiority overall human beings although the Prophet (Muhammad) is present amongst us!" The Jew went to the Prophet and said, "O Abu-l-Qasim! I am under the assurance and contract of security, so what right does so-and-so have to slap me?" The Prophet asked the other, "Why have you slapped". He told him the whole story. The Prophet became angry, till anger appeared on his face, and said, "Don't give superiority to any prophet amongst Allah's Prophets, for when the trumpet will be blown, everyone on the earth and in the heavens will become unconscious except those whom Allah will exempt. The trumpet will be blown for the second time and I will be the first to be resurrected to see Moses holding Allah's Throne. I will not know whether the unconsciousness which Moses received on the Day of Tur has been sufficient for him, or has he got up before me. And I do not say that there is anybody who is better than Yunus bin Matta."

[5 V 67]

YOUR DUTY IS TO CONVEY ON ALLAH IS THE RECKONING

[ALLAH'S Quran – 5:67 – Pickthall] “O Messenger! Make known that which hath been revealed unto thee from thy Lord, for if thou do it not, thou wilt not have conveyed His message. Allah will protect thee from mankind. Lo! Allah guideth not the disbelieving folk.”

[Tafsir – Ibn Kathir]
(O Messenger! Convey what has been sent down to you from your Lord.)'' Al-Bukhari collected the short form of this story here, but mentioned the full narration in another part of his book. Muslim in the Book of Iman, At-Tirmidhi, and An-Nasa'i in the Book of Tafsir of their Sunans also collected this Hadith. In is recorded in the Two Sahihs that `A'ishah said, "If Muhammad hid anything from the Qur'an, he would have hidden this Ayah,

But you did hide in yourself that which Allah will make manifest, you did fear the people while Allah had a better right that you should fear Him.''

Al-Bukhari recorded that Az-Zuhri said, "From Allah comes the Message, for the Messenger is its deliverance and for us is submission to it.''

The Ummah of Muhammad has testified that he has delivered the Message and fulfilled the trust, when he asked them during the biggest gathering in his speech during the Farewell Hajj. At that time, there were over forty thousand of his Companions. Muslim recorded that Jabir bin `Abdullah said that the Messenger of Allah said in his speech on that day, (O people! You shall be asked about me, so what are you going to reply) They said, "We bear witness that you have conveyed (the Message), fulfilled (the trust) and offered sincere advice.'' The Prophet kept raising his finger towards the sky and then pointing at them, saying, (O Allah! Did I convey O Allah! Did I convey) Allah's statement, (And if you do not, then you have not conveyed His Message.) meaning: If you do not convey to the people what I sent to you, then you have not conveyed My Message. Meaning, the Prophet knows the consequences of this failure. `Ali bin Abi Talhah reported that Ibn `Abbas commented on the Ayah, (And if you do not, then you have not conveyed His Message.) "It means, if you hide only one Ayah that was revealed to you from your Lord, then you have not conveyed His Message.''

Allah's statement, (Allah will protect you from mankind.) means, you convey My Message and I will protect, aid and support you over your enemies and will grant you victory over them. Therefore, do not have any fear or sadness, for none of them will be able to touch you with harm.
Before this Ayah was revealed, the Prophet was being guarded, as Imam Ahmad recorded that `A'ishah said that the Prophet was vigilant one night when she was next to him; she asked him, "What is the matter, O Allah's Messenger'' He said, (Would that a pious man from my companions guard me tonight!) She said, "Suddenly we heard the clatter of arms. The Prophet said, (Who is that''.) He (the new comer) replied, "I am Sa`d bin Malik (Sa`d bin Abi Waqqas).'' The Prophet asked, What brought you here) He said, "I have come to guard you, O Allah's Messenger.'' `A'ishah said, "So, the Prophet slept (that night) and I heard the noise of sleep coming from him.)''
This Hadith is recorded in Two Sahihs. Another narration for this Hadith reads, "The Messenger of Allah was vigilant one night, after he came to Al-Madinah...'', meaning, after the Hijrah and after the Prophet consummated his marriage to `A'ishah in the second year of Hijrah. Ibn Abi Hatim recorded that `A'ishah said, "The Prophet was being guarded until this Ayah, (Allah will protect you from mankind) was revealed.'' She added; "The Prophet raised his head from the room and said; (O people! Go away, for Allah will protect me.)''' At-Tirmidhi recorded it and said,"This Hadith is Gharib.'' It was also recorded by Ibn Jarir, and Al-Hakim in his Mustadrak, where he said, "Its chain is Sahih, but they did not record it.''

Allah's statement, (Verily, Allah guides not those who disbelieve.) means, O Muhammad, you convey, and Allah guides whom He wills, and misguides whom He wills. In other Ayat, Allah said, (Not upon you is their guidance, but Allah guides whom He wills,)

[5 V 5]

FOOD OF THE PEOPLE OF THE BOOK LAWFUL FOR BELIEVERS

[ALLAH'S Quran – 5:5 – Yusuf Ali] “This day are (all) things good and pure made lawful unto you. The food of the People of the Book is lawful unto you and yours is lawful unto them. (Lawful unto you in marriage) are (not only) chaste women who are believers, but chaste women among the People of the Book, revealed before your time,- when ye give them their due dowers, and desire chastity, not lewdness, nor secret intrigues if any one rejects faith, fruitless is his work, and in the Hereafter he will be in the ranks of those who have lost (all spiritual good).”

[Quran 5:5] EXPLAINED BY SCHOLARS

[Tafsir Ibn Kathir] After Allah mentioned the filthy things that He prohibited for His believing servants and the good things that He allowed for them, He said next, (Made lawful to you this day are At-Tayyibat.) Allah then mentioned the ruling concerning the slaughtered animals of the People of the Book, the Jews and Christians,
(The food of the People of the Scripture is lawful to you..) meaning, their slaughtered animals, as Ibn `Abbas, Abu Umamah, Mujahid, Sa`id bin Jubayr, `Ikrimah, `Ata', Al-Hasan, Makhul, Ibrahim An-Nakha`i, As-Suddi and Muqatil bin Hayyan stated. This ruling, that the slaughtered animals of the People of the Book are permissible for Muslims, is agreed on by the scholars, because the People of the Book believe that slaughtering for other than Allah is prohibited. They mention Allah's Name upon slaughtering their animals, even though they have deviant beliefs about Allah that do not befit His majesty. It is recorded in the Sahih that `Abdullah bin Mughaffal said, "While we were attacking the fort of Khaybar, a person threw a leather bag containing fat, and I ran to take it and said, `I will not give anyone anything from this container today.' But when I turned I saw the Prophet (standing behind) while smiling.'' The scholars rely on this Hadith as evidence that we are allowed to eat what we need of foods from the booty before it is divided. The scholars of the Hanafi, the Shafi`i and the Hanbali Madhhabs rely on this Hadith to allow eating parts of the slaughtered animals of the Jews that they prohibit for themselves, such as the fat. They used this Hadith as evidence against the scholars of the Maliki Madhhab who disagreed with this ruling. A better proof is the Hadith recorded in the Sahih that the people of Khaybar gave the Prophet a gift of a roasted leg of sheep, which they poisoned. The Prophet used to like eating the leg of the sheep and he took a bite from it, but it told the Prophet that it was poisoned, so he discarded that bite. The bite that the Prophet took effected the palate of his mouth, while Bishr bin Al-Bara' bin Ma`rur died from eating from that sheep. The Prophet had the Jewish woman, Zaynab, who poisoned the sheep, killed. Therefore, the Prophet and his Companions wanted to eat from that sheep and did not ask the Jews if they removed what the Jews believed was prohibited for them, such as its fat. Allah's statement,
(and your food is lawful to them.) means, you are allowed to feed them from your slaughtered animals. Therefore, this part of the Ayah is not to inform the People of the Scriptures that they are allowed to eat our food -- unless we consider it information for us about the ruling that they have -- i. e, that they are allowed all types of foods over which Allah's Name was mentioned, whether slaughtered according to their religion or otherwise. The first explanation is more plausible. So it means: you are allowed to feed them from your slaughtered animals just as you are allowed to eat from theirs, as equal compensation and fair treatment. The Prophet gave his robe to `Abdullah bin Ubayy bin Salul, who was wrapped with it when he died. They say that he did that because `Abdullah had given his robe to Al-`Abbas when Al-`Abbas came to Al-Madinah. As for the Hadith,

[Tafsir – Yusuf Ali] The question is for food generally, such as is ordinarily "good and pure": in the matter of meat it should be killed with some sort of solemnity analogous to that of the Takbir. The rules of Islam in this respect being analogous to those of the People of the Book, there is no objection to mutual recognition, as opposed to meat killed by Pagans with superstitious rites, (Cf. 6:139). In this respect the Christian rule is the same: "That ye abstain from meats offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication." (Acts. 15:29). Notice the bracketing of fornication with things unlawful to eat. Islam is not exclusive. Social intercourse, including inter-marriage, is permitted with the People of the Book. A Muslim man may marry a woman from their ranks on the same terms as he would marry a Muslim woman, i.e., he must give her an economic and moral status, and must not be actuated merely by motives of lust or physical desire. A Muslim woman may not marry a non-Muslim man, because her Muslim status would be affected: the wife ordinarily takes the nationality and status given by her husband's law. A non-Muslim woman marrying a Muslim husband would be expected eventually to accept Islam. Any man or woman, of any race or faith, may, on accepting Islam, freely marry any Muslim woman or man, provided it be from motives of purity and chastity and not of lewdness. As always, food, cleanliness, social intercourse, marriage and other interests in life, are linked with our duty to God and faith in Him. Duty and faith are for our own benefit, here and in the Hereafter, (Cf. 39:65).

[Tafsir – Asad] This permission to partake of the food of the followers of other revealed religions excludes, of course, the forbidden categories of meat enumerated in verse 3 above. As a matter of fact, the Law of Moses, too, forbids them explicitly; and there is no statement whatsoever in the Gospels to the effect that these prohibitions were cancelled by Jesus: on the contrary, he is reported to have said, "Think not that I have come to destroy the Law [of Moses]... : I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil" (Matthew v, 17). Thus, the latitude enjoyed by post-Pauline followers of Jesus in respect of food does not correspond to what he himself practiced and enjoined. Whereas Muslim men are allowed to marry women from among the followers of another revealed religion, Muslim women may not marry non-Muslims: the reason being that Islam enjoins reverence of all the prophets, while the followers of other religions reject some of them - e.g., the Prophet Muhammad or, as is the case with the Jews, both Muhammad and Jesus. Thus, while a non-Muslim woman who marries a Muslim can be sure that - despite all doctrinal differences - the prophets of her faith will be mentioned with utmost respect in her Muslim environment, a Muslim woman who would marry a non-Muslim would always be exposed to an abuse of him whom she regards as God's Apostle. The above passage rounds off, as it were, the opening sentences of this surah, "O you who have attained to faith, be true to your covenants" - of which belief in God and the acceptance of His commandments are the foremost. It is immediately followed by a reference to prayer: for it is in prayer that man's dependence on God finds its most conscious and deliberate expression.

[5:32]

KILLING OF INNOCENTS PROHIBITED BY ALLAH, THE EXALTED

[ALLAH'S Quran - 5:32 - Ali Unal] “It is because of this that We ordained for (all humankind, but particularly for) the Children of Israel: He who kills a soul unless it be (in legal punishment) for murder or for causing disorder and corruption on the earth will be as if he had killed all humankind; and he who saves a life will be as if he had saved the lives of all humankind. Assuredly there came to them Our Messengers (one after the other) with clear proofs of the truth (so that they might be revived both individually and as a people). Then (in spite of all this), many of them go on committing excesses on the earth.”

The Prophet (pbuh) has said:

[Malik’s Muwatta, Book #21, Hadith #21.3.9] “Yahya related to me from Malik from Nafi from Ibn Umar that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, saw the corpse of a woman who had been slain in one of the raids, and he disapproved of it and forbade the killing of women and children.”

[Muslim, Book#019, Hadith #4319] “It is narrated on the authority of 'Abdullah that a woman was found killed in one of the battles fought by the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him). He disapproved of the killing of women and children.”

[Bukhari, Book #52, Hadith #257] “Narrated 'Abdullah: During some of the Ghazawat of the Prophet a woman was found killed. Allah's Apostle disapproved"

[Muslim, Book #001, Hadith#0161] “It is reported on the authority of Abu Huraira that the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) observed: Avoid the seven noxious things. It was said (by the hearers): What are they, Messenger of Allah? He (the Holy Prophet) replied: Associating anything with Allah, magic, killing of one whom God has declared inviolate without a just cause, consuming the property of an orphan, and consuming of usury, turning back when the army advances, and slandering chaste women who are believers, but unwary.”

[Bukhari, Book #73, Hadith #70] “Narrated 'Abdullah: Allah's Apostle said, "Abusing a Muslim is Fusuq (i.e., an evil-doing), and killing him is Kufr (disbelief)."

[Bukhari, Book #3, Hadith #85] “Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, "(Religious) knowledge will be taken away (by the death of religious scholars) ignorance (in religion) and afflictions will appear; and Harj will increase." It was asked, "What is Harj, O Allah's Apostle?" He replied by beckoning with his hand indicating "killing." (Fateh-al-Bari Page 192, Vol. 1)”

[Bukhari, Book #88, Hadith #187] “Narrated 'Abdullah: The Prophet said, "Near the establishment of the Hour, there will be the days of Al-Harj, and the religious knowledge will be taken away (vanish i.e. by the death of Religious scholars) and general ignorance will spread." Abu Musa said, "Al-Harj, in the Ethiopian language, means killing," Ibn Mas'ud added: I heard Allah's Apostle saying; (It will be) from among the most wicked people who will be living at the time when the Hour will be established."

[Bukhari, Book #58, Hadith #233] “Narrated 'Ubida bin As Samit: I was one of the Naqibs who gave the ('Aqaba) Pledge of Allegiance to Allah's Apostle .

[5:32]

HYPOCRITES, WHO TAKE DISBELIEVERS AS THEIR FRIENDS

[ALLAH’S Quran – 5:80-81– Ibn Kathir] “ You see many of them taking the disbelievers as their friends. Evil indeed is that which they have sent forward before themselves; for that (reason) Allah is wrath with them, and in torment they will abide. And had they believed in Allah, and in the Prophet and in what has been revealed to him, never would they have taken them as friends; but many of them are rebellious”

[5:80-81] Commentary by Ibn Kathir
“Mujahid said that this Ayah refers to the hypocrites. Allah's statement, (Evil indeed is that which they have sent forward before themselves;) by giving their loyalty and support to the disbelievers, instead of the believers. This evil act caused them to have hypocrisy in their hearts and brought them the anger of Allah, that will remain with them until the Day of Return. Allah said; (for that (reason) Allah is wrath with them) because of what they did. Allah next said that, in torment they will abide) on the Day of Resurrection. Allah's statement, (And had they believed in Allah, and in the Prophet and in what has been revealed to him, never would they have taken them as friends.) meaning, had they sincerely believed in Allah, His Messenger and the Qur'an, they would not have committed the evil act of supporting the disbelievers in secret and being enemies with those who believe in Allah, the Prophet and what was revealed to him”

[6:12]

"YOUR SUSTAINER HAS WILLED UPON HIMSELF THE LAW OF GRACE AND MERCY"

[Quran – 6:12 – Asad] “Say: "Unto whom belongs all that is in the heavens and on earth?" Say: "Unto God, who has willed upon Himself the law of grace and mercy. He will assuredly gather you all together on the Day of Resurrection, [the coming of] which is beyond all doubt: yet those who have squandered their own selves-it is they who refuse to believe [in Him],”

ALLAH’S Declaration Explained by The Prophet of Islam (pbuh)

[Hadith – Bukhari, Book #54, Hadith #416] “Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, "When Allah completed the creation, He wrote in His Book which is with Him on His Throne, "My Mercy overpowers My Anger."

[Hadith - Muslim, Book #037, Hadith #6626] “(2) Abu Huraira reported that Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) said: When Allah created the creation as He was upon the Throne, He put down in His Book: Verily, My mercy predominates My wrath”

[Hadith – Sunan Abudawud, Book #41, Hadith #4923] “Narrated Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-'As: The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: The Compassionate One has mercy on those who are merciful. If you show mercy to those who are on the earth, He Who is in the heaven will show mercy to you.”

[Hadith – Al-Tirmidhi, Hadith # 1011] The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "It is better for a leader to make a mistake in forgiving than to make a mistake in punishing."

[6:54]

ALLAH THE EXALTED HAS WILLED UPON HIMSELF THE LAW OF GRACE AND MERCY

[ALLAH’S Quran – [6:54] – Asad] “And when those who believe in Our messages come unto thee, say: "Peace be upon you. Your Sustainer has willed upon Himself the law of grace and mercy - so that if any of you does a bad deed out of ignorance, and thereafter repents and lives righteously, He shall be [found] much-forgiving, a dispenser of grace."

The Prophet (pbuh) has said:

[Muslim, Book #037, Hadith #6628] "Abu Huraira reported ALLAH's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: When ALLAH created the creation, He ordained for Himself and this document is with Him: Verily, My Mercy predominates My Wrath."

ALLAH’S Declaration Explained by the Scholar

[6:54 - Commentary - Asad] “The expression "God has willed upon Himself as a law" (kataba `ala nafsihi) occurs in the Qur’an only twice - here and in verse 54 of this surah - and in both instances with reference to His grace and mercy (rahmah); none of the other divine attributes has been similarly described. This exceptional quality of God's grace and mercy is further stressed in 7:156 "My grace overspreads everything" - and finds an echo in the authentic Tradition in which, according to the Prophet, God says of Himself, "Verily, My grace and mercy outstrips My wrath"

[6:82 and 31:13]

Companions’ Question; ALLAH’S ANSWER

[Quran - [6:82] – Ali Unal] “"Those who have believed and not obscured their belief with any wrongdoing (of which, associating partners with God is the most grave, unforgivable kind) – they are the ones for whom there is true security, and they are rightly guided."

[Bukhari, Book #2, Hadith #3 1] "Narrated 'Abdullah: “the companions of Allah's Apostle asked, "Who is amongst us who had not done injustice (wrong)?"

ALLAH’S Answer:
[Quran - [31:13] - Yusuf Ali] “Behold, Luqman said to his son by way of instruction: "O my son! join not in worship (others) with Allah: for false worship is indeed the highest wrong-doing."

[7:56]

INVOKE ALLAH, THE EXALTED, FOR FORGIVENESS, WITH REVERENCE, HOPE AND EXPECTATION

[ALLAH’S Quran – 7:56 – Al-Muntakhab] “Nor does He like those who create discord and make mischief on earth after it has been set in order. And invoke Him with mingled feeling of dread of his just punishment and with reverence, hope and expectation of His mercy and blessings. His mercy is indeed in immediate proximity of those whose deeds are imprinted with wisdom and piety.”

The Prophet (pbuh) has said:

[Bukhari, Book #75, Hadith #319] “Narrated Abu Huraira: I heard Allah's Apostle saying." By Allah! I ask for forgiveness from Allah and turn to Him in repentance more than seventy times a day."

[Muslim, Book #035, Hadith #6522] “Al-Agharr al-Muzani, who was one amongst the Companions (of the Holy Prophet) reported that Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) said: There is (at times) some sort of shade upon my heart, and I seek forgiveness from Allah a hundred times a day.”

[Muslim, Book #035, Hadith #6563] “Abu Musa Ash'ari reported on the authority of his father that Allahs Apostle (may peace be upon him) used to supplicate in these words:" O Allah, forgive me my faults, my ignorance, my immoderation in my concerns. And Thou art better aware (of my affairs) than myself. O Allah, grant me forgiveness (of the faults which I committed) seriously or otherwise (and which I committed inadvertently and deliberately). All these (failings) are in me. O Allah, grant me forgiveness from the fault which I did in haste or deferred, which I committed in privacy or in public and Thou art better aware of (them) than myself. Thou art the First and the Last and over all things Thou art Omnipotent."

[7:157]

PROPHET OF ISLAM, MUHAMMAD (pbuh) foretold in Earlier Revelations

ALLAH, The Exalted, Has Informed the mankind thus:

[ALLAH’S Quran – [7:157] – Dr Munir Munshey] “(My mercy is for) those who follow the messenger, the prophet who can neither read nor write. They will find him mentioned in their scriptures, the Torah and the gospels. He orders them to do the right thing, and to avoid the wrong. He makes the pure and the wholesome lawful for them, and he forbids them the foul and the filthy. He relieves them of the burdens and the shackles with which they were bogged down. Successful indeed, are those who believe in him, honor and help him, and follow the light (the Qur´an) that was revealed to him.”

From The BIBLE

[John – 14:16 – WEB] “I will pray to the Father, and he will give you another Counselor, that he may be with you forever,”

[John – 16:7 – WEB] “Nevertheless I tell you the truth: It is to your advantage that I go away, for if I don't go away, the Counselor won't come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you.”

[John – 15:26 –WEB] “When the Counselor has come, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will testify about me.”

[Mathew - 24:27 – NLT] “For as the lightning flashes in the east and shines to the west, so it will be when the Son of Man comes.”

DESCRIPTION OF ALLAH’S PROPHET (pbuh) IN TORAH (Old Testament)

[ALLAH’S Quran – [7:157] – Asad] “those who shall follow the [last] Apostle, the unlettered Prophet whom they shall find described in the Torah that is with them, and [later on] in the Gospel: [the Prophet] who will enjoin upon them the doing of what is right and forbid them the doing of what is wrong, and make lawful to them the good things of life and forbid them the bad things, and lift from them their burdens and the shackles that were upon them [aforetime]. Those, therefore, who shall believe in him, and honour him, and succour him, and follow the light that has been bestowed from on high through him-it is they that shall attain to a happy state."

[Bukhari, Book #34, Hadith #335] “Narrated Ata bin Yasar: I met Abdullah bin 'Amr bin Al-'As and asked him, "Tell me about the description of ALLAH's Apostle which is mentioned in Torah (i.e. Old Testament.") He replied, 'Yes. By ALLAH, he is described in Torah with some of the qualities attributed to him in the Quran as follows: "O Prophet ! We have sent you as a witness (for ALLAH's True religion) And a giver of glad tidings (to the faithful believers), And a warner (to the unbelievers) And guardian of the illiterates. You are My slave and My Messenger (i.e. Apostle). I have named you "Al-Mutawakkil" (who depends upon ALLAH). You are neither discourteous, harsh Nor a noise-maker in the markets And you do not do evil to those Who do evil to you, but you deal With them with forgiveness and kindness. ALLAH will not let him (the Prophet) Die till he makes straight the crooked people by making them say: "None has the right to be worshipped but ALLAH," With which will be opened blind eyes And deaf ears and enveloped hearts."

[7:158]

ALLAH'S Command: FOLLOW THE MESSENGER

[ALLAH’S Quran - [7:158] – Asad] “Say [O Muhammad]: "O mankind! Verily, I am an apostle of God to all of you, [sent by Him] unto whom the dominion over the heavens and the earth belongs! There is no deity save Him; He [alone] grants life and deals death!" Believe, then, in God and His Apostle-the unlettered Prophet who believes in God and His words-and follow him, so that you might find guidance!

ALLAH'S Warning to Disbelievers: STOP OPPRESSION OF BELIEVERS

[ALLAH'S Quran – 8:38 - Pickthall] “Tell those who disbelieve that if they cease (from persecution of believers) that which is past will be forgiven them; but if they return (thereto) then the example of the men of old hath already gone (before them, for a warning).”

The Prophet (pbuh) has said:

[Muslim, Book #032, Hadith #6248 ] “Jabir b. Abdullah reported that Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) said: Be on your guard against committing oppression, for oppression is a darkness on the Day of Resurrection, and be on your guard against pettimindedness for pettimindedness destroyed those who were before you, as it incited them to shed blood and make lawful what was unlawful for them.”

[8:73]

ALLAH'S Command: Believers, Be Protectors of each other

[ALLAH'S Quran – 8:73 - Yusuf Ali] “The Unbelievers are protectors, one of another: Unless ye do this, (protect each other), there would be tumult and oppression on earth, and great mischief.”

The Prophet (pbuh) has said:

[Muslim, Book #032, Hadith #6247 ] “Abu Dharr reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying that he reported it from his Lord, the Exalted and Glorious: Verily I have made oppression unlawful for Me and for My servants too, so do not commit oppression.”

[9:20]

Those Praised By ALLAH, The Exalted and The Prophet (pbuh)

[ALLAH'S Quran - 9:20 – Umm Muhammad] “ The ones who have believed, emigrated and striven in the cause of Allah with their wealth and their lives are greater in rank in the sight of Allah . And it is those who are the attainers [of success].”

The Prophet (pbuh) has said:

[Muslim, Book #031, Hadith #6167] “Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: Do not revile my Companions, do not revile my Companions. By Him in Whose Hand is my life, if one amongst you would have spent as much gold as uhud it would not amount to as much as one much on behalf of one of them or half of it.”

[Muslim, Book #031, Hadith #6168] “Abu Sa'id reported there was some altercation between Khalid b. Walid and Abd al-Rahman b. 'Auf and Khalid reviled him. Thereupon Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) said: None should revile my Companions. for if one amongst you were to spend as much gold as uhud, it would not amount to as much as one mud of one of them or half of it.”

[Bukhari, Book#57, Hadith #22] “Narrated Abu Said: The Prophet said, "Do not abuse my companions for if any one of you spent gold equal to uhud (in Allah's Cause) it would not be equal to a Mud or even a half Mud spent by one of them."

[9:31]

[ALLAH'S Quran - 9:31 - Pickthall] "They have taken as lords beside Allah their rabbis and their monks and the Messiah son of Mary, when they were bidden to worship only One Allah. There is no Allah save Him. Be He Glorified from all that they ascribe as partner (unto Him)!

The Prophet has said:

[Bukhari, Book 78, Hadith 8] Narrated Anas bin Malik: Allah's Messenger (pbuh) mentioned the greatest sins or he was asked about the greatest sins. He said, "To join partners in worship with Allah; to kill a soul which Allah has forbidden to kill; and to be undutiful or unkind to one's parents." The Prophet (pbuh) added, "Shall I inform you of the biggest of the great sins? That is the forged statement or the false witness." Shu`ba (the sub-narrator) states that most probably the Prophet said, "the false witness."

[9:71]

BELIEVERS – PROTECTING FRIENDS OF ONE ANOTHER

[ALLAH’S Quran – 9:71 – Pickthall] “And the believers, men and women, are protecting friends one of another; they enjoin the right and forbid the wrong, and they establish worship and they pay the poor-due, and they obey Allah and His messenger. As for these, Allah will have mercy on them. Lo! Allah is Mighty, Wise.”

The Prophet (pbuh) has said:

[Muslim, Book #032, Hadith #6258] “Nu'man b. Bashir reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: The similitude of believers in regard to mutual love, affection, fellow-feeling is that of one body; when any limb of it aches, the wholebody aches, because of sleeplessness and fever.”

[9:101]

DESTINY OF HYPOCRITES

[ALLAH'S Quran - 9:101 - Ali Unal] " Among the Bedouin Arabs who dwell around you there are hypocrites, and among the people of Madinah (too) there are such as have grown more artful and insidious in hypocrisy: you (O Messenger) do not know them (unless We inform you of them). We know them all (and the threat they pose). We will punish them doubly, and then they will be returned to a mighty punishment (in the Hereafter)."

The Prophet (pbuh) has said:

[Bukhari, Book #76, Hadith #587] "Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, "While I was sleeping, a group (of my followers were brought close to me), and when I recognized them, a man (an angel) came out from amongst (us) me and them, he said (to them), 'Come along.' I asked, 'Where?' He said, 'to the (Hell) Fire, by Allah' I asked, 'what is wrong with them' He said, 'They turned apostate as renegades after you left.' Then behold! (Another) group (of my followers) were brought close to me, and when I recognized them, a man (an angel) came out from (me and them) he said (to them); Come along.' I asked, "Where?' He said, 'to the (Hell) Fire, by Allah.' I asked, What is wrong with them?' He said, 'They turned apostate as renegades after you left. So I did not see anyone of them escaping except a few who were like camels without a shepherd."

[9:119]

FEAR ALLAH, BE TRUTHFUL, OF THE TRUTHFUL, WITH THE TRUTHFUL

[ALLAH'S Quran – 9:119 – Daryabadi] “O Ye who believe! fear Allah, and be with the truthful.”

[Bukhari, Book #73, Hadith #116] “Narrated 'Abdullah: The Prophet said, "Truthfulness leads to righteousness, and righteousness leads to paradise. And a man keeps on telling the truth until he becomes a truthful person. Falsehood leads to Al-Fajur (i.e. wickedness, evil-doing), and Al-Fajur (wickedness) leads to the (Hell) Fire, and a man may keep on telling lies till he is written before Allah, a liar."

[Muslim, Book #032, Hadith #6309] “Abdullah reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: It is obligatory for you to tell the truth, for truth leads to virtue and virtue leads to Paradise, and the man who continues to speak the truth and endeavours to tell the truth is eventually recorded as truthful with Allah, and beware of telling of a lie for telling of a lie leads to obscenity and obscenity leads to Hell-Fire, and the person who keeps telling lies and endeavours to tell a lie is recorded as a liar with Allah.”

[Malik’s Muwatta, Book #56, Hadith #56.7.16] “Malik related to me that he heard that Abdullah ibn Masud used to say, "You must tell the truth, truthfulness leads to right action. Right action leads to the Garden. Beware of lying. Lying leads to corruption, and corruption leads to the Fire. Don't you see that it is said, 'He speaks the truth and acts rightly,' and, 'He lies and is corrupt.”

[Malik’s Muwatta, Book #56, Hadith #56.7.17] “Malik related to me that he heard that someone said to Luqman, "What has brought you to what we see?" meaning his high rank. Luqman said, "truthful speech, fulfilling the trust, and leaving what does not concern me."

ALLAH’S COMMAND TO BELIEVERS:

LEARN, UNDERSTAND, EMBRACE, PRACTICE AND TEACH ALLAH’S MESSAGE TO MANKIND

[Quran - [9:122] – Maududi] “It was not necessary for the believers to go forth all together (to receive religious instruction), but why did not a party of them go forth that they may grow in religious understanding, and that they may warn their people when they return to them, so that they may avoid (erroneous attitudes)?”

The Prophet (pbuh) has said:

[Bukhari, Book #61, Hadith #545] "Narrated 'Uthman: The Prophet said, "The best among you (Muslims) are those who learn the Qur'an and teach it."

[9:128]

PROPHET OF ISLAM (pbuh) WITH GUIDANCE AND KNOWLEDGE FOR THE MANKIND

[ALLAH'S Quran - 9:128 – Al-Muntakhab] “INDEED, there has come unto you [O mankind] an Apostle from among yourselves: heavily weighs -upon him [the thought] that you might suffer [in the life to come]; full of concern for you [is he, and] full of compassion and mercy towards the believers.”

The Prophet (pbuh) has said:

[Bukhari, Book #3, Hadith #79] “Narrated Abu Musa: The Prophet said, "The example of guidance and knowledge with which Allah has sent me is like abundant rain falling on the earth, some of which was fertile soil that absorbed rain water and brought forth vegetation and grass in abundance. (And) another portion of it was hard and held the rain water and Allah benefited the people with it and they utilized it for drinking, making their animals drink from it and for irrigation of the land for cultivation.

[DECLARATION OF THE PROPHET OF ISLAM

[Quran – 10:104 – Sher Ali] “O ye men, if you are in doubt concerning my religion, then know that I worship not those whom you worship instead of ALLAH, but I worship ALLAH alone.........”

The Prophet (pbuh) has said:
[Bukhari, Book #2, Hadith #42] “Narrated Anas: The Prophet said, "Whoever said "None has the right to be worshipped but Allah and has in his heart good (faith) equal to the weight of a barley grain will be taken out of Hell. And whoever said: "None has the right to be worshipped but Allah and has in his heart good (faith) equal to the weight of a wheat grain will be taken out of Hell. And whoever said, "None has the right to be worshipped but Allah and has in his heart good (faith) equal to the weight of an atom will be taken out of Hell."

GOOD DEEDS ERASE EVIL DEEDS......................

[ALLAH’S Quran - [11:114] – Usmani] “Establish Salah at both ends of the day, and in the early hours of the night. Surely, good deeds erase bad deeds. That is a reminder for the mindful.”

[Hadith – Bukhari, Book #10, Hadith #504] “Narrated Ibn Mas'ud: A man kissed a woman (unlawfully) and then went to the Prophet and informed him. Allah revealed: And offer prayers perfectly At the two ends of the day And in some hours of the night (i.e. the five compulsory prayers). Verily! good deeds remove (annul) the evil deeds (small sins) (11.114). The man asked Allah's Apostle, "Is it for me?" He said, "It is for all my followers."

[Hadith – Muslim, Book #037, Hadith #6658] “'Abdullah reported that a person came to Allah's Apostle (may peace be upon him) and said: Allah's Messenger, I sported with a woman in the outskirts of Medina, and I have committed an offence short of fornication. Here I am (before you), kindly deliver verdict about me which you deem fit. Umar said: Allah concealed your fault. You had better conceal it yourself also. Allah's Apostle (may peace be upon him), however, gave no reply to him. The man stood up and went away and Allah's Apostle (may peace be upon him) sent a person after him to call him and be recited this verse:" And observe prayer at the ends of the day and in the first hours of the night. Surely, good deeds take away evil deeds. That is a reminder for the mindful" (xi. 115). A person amongst the people said: Allah's Apostle, does it concern this man only? Thereupon he (the Holy Prophet) said: No, but the people at large.”

[Hadith – Sunan Abudawud, Book #41, Hadith #5059] “Narrated Abu Ayyash: The Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) said: If anyone says in the morning: "There is no god but Allah alone Who has no partner; to Him belong the dominions, to Him praise is due, and He is Omnipotent," he will have a reward equivalent to that for setting free a slave from among the descendants of Isma'il.

[12:108]

LET THERE BE OF YOU A COMMUNITY CALLING OTHERS TO GOOD..........

“And let there be of you a community calling others to good and commanding that which is reputable and prohibiting that which is disreputable.....” “Call to the way of your Lord with wisdom and fair exhortation and reason with them in a way that is best....” “THIS IS MY WAY: I call to God on clear evidence and with sure knowledge – I and those who follow me.....”
Quran [3:104 – Daryabadi];[16:125 – Wahiduddin];[12:108 – Ali Unal]

Prophet (pbuh) has said:

[Abudawud, Book #25, Hadith #3634] “Narrated AbudDarda': Kathir ibn Qays said: I was sitting with AbudDarda' in the mosque of Damascus. A man came to him and said: AbudDarda, I have come to you from the town of the Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) for a tradition that I have heard you relate from the Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him). I have come for no other purpose. He said: I heard the Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) say: If anyone travels on a road in search of knowledge, Allah will cause him to travel on one of the roads of Paradise. The angels will lower their wings in their great pleasure with one who seeks knowledge, the inhabitants of the heavens and the Earth and the fish in the deep waters will ask forgiveness for the learned man. The superiority of the learned man over the devout is like that of the moon, on the night when it is full, over the rest of the stars. The learned are the heirs of the Prophets, and the Prophets leave neither dinar nor dirham, leaving only knowledge, and he who takes it takes an abundant portion.”

The Messenger of God, (pbuh) has said: ‘Let those who are present inform those who are absent; a carrier of knowledge may carry it to someone who has more knowledge than he, and many men carry knowledge who are not themselves knowledgeable.’ And: ‘Anyone who summons to guidance will receive the same reward as those who follow him, without diminishing their reward in any way; and anyone who summons to error will have sinned as much as all those who follow him without this diminishing their sins in any way.’ And ‘The one who points out goodness obtains the same reward as the one who does it.’ When the son of Adam dies his works come to an end except for three: a continuing charity, knowledge of which use he made, and a righteous son who prays for him.’ And ‘The most generous of you after me will be a man who acquires knowledge and spreads it; he will be resurrected on the Day of Rising as a nation by himself.’ And ‘All creatures pray for the one who teaches goodness, even the fish in the water,’

[13:11]

ALLAH DOES NOT CHANGE A PEOPLE’S LOT UNLESS THEY CHANGE.......

[ALLAH'S Quran -13:11– Yusuf Ali] “...........Allah does not change a people's lot unless they change what is in their hearts. But when (once) Allah willeth a people's punishment, there can be no turning it back, nor will they find, besides Him, any to protect.”

The Prophet (pbuh) has said:

[Bukhari, Book #2, Hadith #49] “Narrated An-Nu'man bin Bashir: I heard Allah's Apostle saying, 'Both legal and illegal things are evident but in between them there are doubtful (suspicious) things and most of the people have no knowledge about them. So whoever saves himself from these suspicious things saves his religion and his honour. And whoever indulges in these suspicious things is like a shepherd who grazes (his animals) near the Him a (private pasture) of someone else and at any moment he is liable to get in it. (O people!) Beware! Every king has a Him a and the Him a of Allah on the earth is His illegal (forbidden) things. Beware! There is a piece of flesh in the body if it becomes good (reformed) the whole body becomes good but if it gets spoilt the whole body gets spoilt and that is the heart.”

[Sunan Abudawud, Book #41, Hadith #4923] Narrated Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-'As: The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: The Compassionate One has mercy on those who are merciful. If you show mercy to those who are on the earth, He Who is in the heaven will show mercy to

REPEL EVIL WITH GOOD - Explained by the Scholars

[ALLAH'S Quran - 13:22 – Asad] “and who are patient in adversity out of a longing for their Sustainer's countenance, and are constant in prayer, and spend on others, secretly and openly, out of what We provide for them as sustenance, and [who] repel evil with good. It is these that shall find their fulfilment in the hereafter”

[Commentary – Asad] “Some of the commentators take this to mean that "if they have committed a sin, they repel it [i.e., its effect] by repentance" (Ibn Kaysan, as quoted by Zamakhshari), while others think that the "repelling" connotes the doing of a good deed in atonement of a - presumably unintentional - bad deed (Razi), or that it refers to endeavours to set evil situations to rights by word or deed (an alternative interpretation mentioned by Zamakhshari). But the great majority of the classical commentators hold that the meaning is "they repay evil with good"; thus Al-Hasan al-Basra (as quoted by Baghawi, Zamakhshari and Razi): "When they are deprived [of anything], they give; and when they are wronged, they forgive." Tabari's explanation is very similar: "They repel the evil done to them by doing good to those who did it"; and "they do not repay evil with evil, but repel it by [doing] good". See also 41:34-36. Lit., "For them there will be the end-result [or "fulfilment"] of the [ultimate] abode". The noun 'uqba is regarded by almost all the philological authorities as synonymous with 'aqibah ("consequence" or "end" or "end-result"; hence also "recompense" and, tropically, "destiny" or "fulfilment"). The term ad-dar stands for ad-dar al-dkhirah, "the ultimate abode", i.e., life in the hereafter.”

[Commentary – Ibn Kathir] “(And those who remain patient, seeking their Lord's Face,) They observe patience while staying away from sins and evil deeds, doing so while dedicating themselves to the service of their Lord the Exalted and Most Honored and seeking His pleasure and generous reward, (and perform the Salah), preserving its limits, times, bowing, prostration and humbleness, according to the established limits and rulings of the religion, (and spend out of that which We have bestowed on them,) They spend on those whom they are obliged to spend on them, such as their spouses, relatives and the poor and needy in general, (secretly and openly,) They spend during all conditions and times, whether during the night or the day, secretly and openly, (and repel evil with good) they resist evil with good conduct. When the people harm them they face their harm with good patience, forbearing, forgiveness and pardon. Allah said in another Ayah, (Repel (the evil) with one which is better, then verily he, between whom and you there was enmity, (will become) as though he was a close friend. But none is granted it except those who are patient - and none is granted it except the owner of the great portion in this world.)﴿41:34-35﴾ This is why Allah states here that those who have these good qualities, the blessed ones, will earn the final home, which He explained next, (`Adn Gardens), where, `Adn, indicates continuous residence; they will reside in the gardens of everlasting life.

[14:1]

PROPHET (pbuh) Commanded to Bring Mankind To The Path of The Mighty, The Praiseworthy

[Allah’s Quran – 14:1 – Daryabadi] “Alif. Lam. Ra. This is a Book which We have sent down unto thee, that thou mayest bring the mankind forth from the darknesses unto the light, by the command of their Lord: unto the path of the Mighty, the Praiseworthy.”

[Abudawud, Book #3, Hadith #0964] “Sharik reported from Jami', from AbuWa'il on the authority of Abdullah ibn Mas'ud something similar. He said: He used to teach us also some other words, but he did not teach them as he taught us the tashahhud: O Allah, join our hearts, mend our social relationship, guide us to the path of peace, bring us from darkness to light, save us from obscenities, outward or inward, and bless our ears, our eyes, our hearts, our wives, our children, and relent toward us; Thou art the Relenting, the Merciful. And make us grateful for Thy blessing and make us praise it while accepting it and give it to us in full.”

[14:11]

[Quran [14:11] - Amatul Rahman Omar] "Their Messengers (of God) said to them, `It is true we are nothing but human beings like yourselves but Allah shows (His) favours (by sending revelations and prophethood) to such of His servants as He will. It is not (possible) for us to bring you an authority except by the leave of Allah. (We put our trust in Him) and in Allah (alone) should the believers put their trust."

The Prophet (pbuh) has said:

[Muslim, Book #004, Hadith #1691] “Ibn Abbas reported that when the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) got up during the night to pray, he used to say: O Allah, to Thee be the praise Thou art the light of the heavens and the earth. To Thee be the praise; Thou art the Supporter of the heavens and the earth. To Thee be the praise; Thou art the Lord of the heavens and the earth and whatever is therein. Thou art the Truth; Thy promise is True, the meeting with Thee is True. Paradise is true, Hell is true, the Hour is true. O Allah, I submit to Thee; affirm my faith in Thee; repose my trust in Thee, and I return to Thee for repentance; by Thy help I have disputed; and to Thee I have come for decision, so forgive me my earlier and later sins, the sins that I committed in secret and openly. Thou art my God. There is no god but Thee.”

[14:34]

REPEL BAD WITH GOOD

[Quran [14:34] “A good action and a bad action are not the same. Repel the bad with something better and, if there is enmity between you and someone else, he will be like a bosom friend.”

[Commentary – Asad]
“Some of the commentators take this to mean that "if they have committed a sin, they repel it [i.e., its effect] by repentance" (Ibn Kaysan, as quoted by Zamakhshari), while others think that the "repelling" connotes the doing of a good deed in atonement of a - presumably unintentional - bad deed (Razi), or that it refers to endeavours to set evil situations to rights by word or deed (an alternative interpretation mentioned by Zamakhshari). Tabari's explanation is very similar: "They repel the evil done to them by doing good to those who did it"; and "they do not repay evil with evil, but repel it by [doing] good". See also 41:34-36. The term ad-dar stands for ad-dar al-dkhirah, "the ultimate abode", i.e., life in the hereafter.”

[16:29]

EVIL INDEED IS THE ABODE OF THE ARROGANT

[ALLAH’S Quran – 16:29 – Yusuf Ali] "So enter the gates of Hell, to dwell therein. Thus evil indeed is the abode of the arrogant."

The PROPHET (pbuh) has said:

[Bukhari, Book #60, Hadith #3] 'None remains in Hell but those whom the Quran has imprisoned (in Hell) and who have been destined to an eternal stay in Hell.' " (The compiler) Abu 'Abdullah said: 'But those whom the Qur'an has imprisoned in Hell,' refers to the Statement of Allah: "They will dwell therein forever."

[16:43]

REFERENCE TO JEWISH SOURCES

[ALLAH’S Quran -16:43 – Asad] “AND [even] before thy time, [O Muhammad,] We never sent [as Our apostles] any but [mortal] men, whom We inspired: and if you have not [yet] realized this, ask the followers of [earlier] revelation,"

http://www.meforum.org/717/assessing-english-translations-of-the-quran
Indeed, the Qur'an presupposes familiarity with Judeo-Christian ideas to the extent that it often does not give the full version of a narrative; there is no need to identify what is supposed to be common knowledge.[3] A typical example is in the verse that was only partially cited by Muslims commenting on news programs in the wake of the 9-11 terror attacks: "Whoever has killed a single human without just cause, it is as if he has killed the entire humankind."[4] In fact, the full verse is: "And for this reason, we ordained for the children of Israel that whoever has killed a single human without just cause, it is as if he has killed the entire humankind." Significantly, the complete verse refers to a divine edict not found in the Torah, but rather in the Mishnah, part of the Jewish oral tradition.[5]

Evidence of Muhammad's familiarity with Judaism is present in the Qur'an. One verse suggests that his contemporaries accused him of having a Jewish teacher.[6] When some Arabs challenged Muhammad's claim to be a prophet based on his mortality, he suggested that they consult Jewish scholars about history.[7] Early Muslims resorted to Jewish lore so heavily that they produced a genre of literature: the Isra'iliyat, loosely translated as the Judaic traditions.[8] An oral tradition was even attributed to Muhammad wherein he supposedly said, "Relate from the people of Israel, and there is no objection,"[9] thereby enabling Islamic scholars to cite precedents from Jewish scholarship.[10]

By the ninth century, this began to change. Muslim jurists, increasingly opposed to reliance upon Jewish lore, created new sayings from the Prophet and his companions that contradicted the original allowances. In one of these apocryphal traditions, Muhammad's face changes color when he sees his follower Umar reading the Torah. Muhammad declares that had Moses been their contemporary, he, too, would have followed the Muslim prophet.[11] An alternate version claims that the Prophet asked Umar, "Do you wish to rush to perdition as did the Jews and Christians? I have brought you white and clean hadiths [oral traditions]."[12] Despite the unreliability of this hadith, it has evolved into a position that any Muslim who questions it could be accused of heresy.
Since Muslims could no longer seek support from Jewish sources, successive generations of scholars lost understanding of Qur'anic references.[13] From the tenth century on, the result has been that voices of the medieval scholars have trumped the vox-dei. Without a serious reexamination, it is uncertain whether Muslims will be able to get to the essence of their religion's main document. The inaccuracies and artifices of medieval biases remain, unfortunately, pervasively present in English translations by Muslim scholars.

[16:43 – Commentary – Yusuf Ali] “If the Pagan Arabs, who were ignorant of religious and other history, wondered how a man from among themselves could receive inspiration and bring a Message from God, let them ask the Jews, who had also received God’s Message earlier through Moses, whether Moses was a man, or an angel, or a god. They would learn that Moses was a man like themselves, but inspired by God. "Those who possess the Message" may also mean any men of Wisdom, who were qualified to have an opinion in such matters (Cf. 21:7 and 38:1).”
[16:43 – Commentary – Asad] “Lit., "reminder"- because every divine message is meant to remind one of the truth. The people to be asked for enlightenment in this respect are apparently the Jews and the Christians (Tabari, Zamakhshari).”

WORSHIP AND FEAR ALLAH ALONE

[ALLAH’S Quran – [16:51] – Al-Muntakhab] "Do not Worship two gods, He is One and only, and therefore, fear Me and keep in awe of Me alone."

The PROPHET (pbuh) has said:

[Bukhari, Book #2, Hadith#47] “Narrated Abu Huraira: One day while the Prophet was sitting in the company of some people, (The angel) Gabriel came and asked, "What is faith?" Allah's Apostle replied, 'Faith is to believe in Allah, His angels, (the) meeting with Him, His Apostles, and to believe in Resurrection." Then he further asked, "What is Islam?" Allah's Apostle replied, "To worship Allah alone and none else, to offer prayers perfectly to pay the compulsory charity (Zakat) and to observe fasts during the month of Ramadan." Then he further asked, "What is Ihsan (perfection)?" Allah's Apostle replied, "To worship Allah as if you see Him, and if you cannot achieve this state of devotion then you must consider that He is looking at you." Then he further asked, "When will the Hour be established?" Allah's Apostle replied, "The answerer has no better knowledge than the questioner. But I will inform you about its portents. 1. When a slave (lady) gives birth to her master. 2. When the shepherds of black camels start boasting and competing with others in the construction of higher buildings. And the Hour is one of five things which nobody knows except Allah. The Prophet then recited: "Verily, with Allah (alone) is the knowledge of the Hour--." (31. 34) Then that man (Gabriel) left and the Prophet asked his companions to call him back, but they could not see him. Then the Prophet said, "That was Gabriel who came to teach the people their religion." Abu 'Abdullah said: He (the Prophet) considered all that as a part of faith.”

[Muslim, Book #9, Hadith #1577] “[It is narrated on the authority of ('Abdullah) son of 'Umar, that the Holy Prophet (may peace of Allah be upon him) said: (The superstructure of) al-Islam is raised on five (pillars), i. e. Allah (alone) should beworshipped, and (all other gods) beside Him should be (categorically) denied. Establishment of prayer, the payment of Zakat, Pilgrimage to the House, and the fast of Ramadan (are the other obligatory acts besides the belief in the oneness of Allah and denial of all other gods).”

[Abudawud, Book #9, Hadith #1577] “Narrated Abdullah ibn Mu'awiyah al-Ghadiri: AbuDawud said: I read in a document possessed by Abdullah ibn Salim at Hims: Abdullah ibn Mu'awiyah al-Ghadiri reported the Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) as saying: He who performs three things will have the taste of the faith. (They are:) One who worships Allah alone and one believes that there is no god but Allah; and one who pays the zakat on his property agreeably every year. One should not give an aged animal, nor one suffering from itch or ailing, and one most condemned, but one should give animals of medium quality, for Allah did not demand from you the best of your animals, nor did He command you to give the animals of worst quality.”

[16:88]

TORMENT FOR HYPOCRITES AND BEGUILERS, already Determined

[ALLAH’S Quran 16:88 – Daryabadi] “Those who disbelieved and hindered others from the way of Allah- We shall increase for them torment upon torment for they have been spreading corruption.”

[16:125]

CALL ALL TO THE WAY OF THY LORD WITH WISDOM

[ALLAH’S Quran- 16:125 – Farook Malik] “Call people to the Way of your Lord with wisdom and best advice, and reason with them, if you have to, in the most courteous manner: for your Lord knows best who strays from His Way and He knows best who is rightly guided.”

The Prophet (pbuh) has said:

[Muslim, Book #034, Hadith #6470] “Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: He who called (people) to righteousness, there would be reward (assured) for him like the rewards of those who adhered to it, without their rewards being diminished in any respect. And he who called (people) to error, he shall have to carry (the burden) o f its sin, like those who committed it, without their sins being diminished in any respect.”

[Malik’s Muwatta, Book #15, Hadith #15.9.41] “Yahya related to me from Malik that he had heard that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "No one calls to guidance without having the same reward as those who follow him without diminishing their rewards at all. And no one calls to error without having the same burdens as they do without diminishing their burdens at all."

[17:36]

FOLLOW NOT THAT OF WHICH YOU HAVE NO KNOWLEDGE

[ALLAH'S Quran - 17:36 - Ali Unal] “Do not follow that of which you have no knowledge (whether it is good or bad), and refrain from groundless assertions and conjectures. Surely the hearing, the sight, and the heart – each of these is subject to questioning about it (you are answerable, and will be called to account, for each of these on the Day of Judgment).”

The PROPHET (pbuh) has said:

[Sunan Abudawud, Book #40, Hadith#4590] “..........You must then follow my sunnah and that of the rightly-guided caliphs. Hold to it and stick fast to it. Avoid novelties, for every novelty is an innovation, and every innovation is an error.”

[Sunan Abudawud, Book #39, Hadith #4515] “Narrated Ali ibn Abu Talib: Qays ibn Abbad and Ashtar went to Ali and said to him: Did the Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) give you any instruction about anything for which he did not give any instruction to the people in general? He said: No, except what is contained in this document of mine. Musaddad said: He then took out a document. Ahmad said: A document from the sheath of his sword. It contained: The lives of all Muslims are equal; they are one hand against others; the lowliest of them can guarantee their protection. Beware, a Muslim must not be killed for an infidel, nor must one who has been given a covenant be killed while his covenant holds. If anyone introduces an innovation, he will be responsible for it. If anyone introduces an innovation or gives shelter to a man who introduces an innovation (in religion), he is cursed by Allah, by His angels, and by all the people. Musaddad said: Ibn Abu Urubah's version has: He took out a document.”

[Muslim, Book #007, Hadith #3163] “So if anyone makes an innovation or accommodates an innovator, the curse of Allah, the angels, and all persons will fall upon him, and Allah will not accept any obligatory or supererogatory act as recompense from them. And the protection granted by the Muslims is one and must be respected by the humblest of them. If anyone makes a false claim to paternity, or being a client of other than his own masters, there is upon him the curse of Allah, the angels, and all the people. Allah will not accept from him any recompense in the form of obligatory acts or supererogatory acts. The hadith transmitted on the authority of Abu Bakr and Zabair ends with (these words): The humblest among them should respect it; and what follows after it is not mentioned there, and in the hadith transmitted by them (these words are) not found: (The document was hanging) on the sheath of his sword.”

[17:53]

TELL MY SERVANTS TO SPEAK IN A KIND AND GRACIOUS MANNER

[ALLAH’S Quran - 17:53 – Amatul Rahman Omar] “And say to My servants that they should speak only what is gracious, for satan (is keen to) provoke discord among them. Satan indeed is an enemy to the people, disuniting (one another).

The PROPHET (pbuh) has said:

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "Shall I tell you who is kept away from Hell?...Everyone who is gentle and kindly, approachable and of an easy disposition."
[Al-Tirmidhi, Hadith 1315]

[17:105]

QUR’AN REVEALED IN TRUTH, QUR’AN DESCENDED IN TRUTH

[Quran – 17:105 – Maududi] “We have sent down the Qur´an with the Truth, and it is with the Truth that it has descended.”

QUR’AN Described by Ali (May ALLAH Be Pleased with him), 4th Caliph of Islam

“Kitabullah (The Book of ALLAH) is the way, for it contains information of what happened before you, news of what will come after you a decision regarding matters that will occur among you. It is the Distinguisher and is not jesting. If any overweening person abandons it, Allah will break him, and if anyone seeks guidance elsewhere ALLAH will lead him astray. It is ALLAH’S stalwart rope, the wise reminder, the straight path; it is by which desires do not swerve nor the tongue becomes confused, and the learned cannot grasp it completely. It is not worn out by repetition nor its wonders ever cease. It is that of which the jinn did not hesitate to remark when they heard it: ‘We have heard a wonderful recitation which guides to what is right, and we believe in it’; he who utters it speaks the truth, he who acts according it is rewarded, he who pronounces judgement according to it is just, and he who invites people to it guides them to the straight path”
[At-Tirmidhi, Sunan, Fada’il al-Qur’an:14, Hadith #2906]

[18:7]

LIFE OF THIS WORLD A TEST FOR THE BELIEVERS

[ALLAH’S Quran - 18:7 – Al-Muntakhab] “We have caused the material world on earth to be of the nature of an embellishment and ornamentation in order to test the peoples' reaction to the grace of Allah and distinguish those of them who will imprint their deeds with wisdom and piety.”

The Prophet (pbuh) has said:

[Muslim, Book #007, Hadith #3183] “Abu Huraira (Allah be pleased with him) reported the Apostle of Allah (may peace be upon him) as saying: For one among my Ummah who shows endurance against the hardships and rigours of Medina, I would be an intercessor or a witness on his behalf on the Day of Resurrection.”

[Sunan Abudawud, Book #35, Hadith #4250] “Narrated Al-Miqdad ibn al-Aswad: I swear by Allah, I heard the Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) say: The happy man is he who avoids dissensions: happy is the man who avoids dissensions; happy is the man who avoids dissensions: but how fine is the man who is afflicted and shows endurance.”

[18:88]

ALLAH MAKES RELIGION EASY FOR THE BELIEVERS

[ALLAH’S Quran - 18:88 – Asad] “But as for him who believes and does righteous deeds - he will have the ultimate good [of the life to come] as his reward; and [as for us,] we shall make binding on him [only] that which is easy to fulfil."

The Prophet (pbuh) has said:

[Bukhari, Volume #7, Hadith #38] "The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) once asked a companion: "(Is it true) that you fast all day and stand in prayer all night?" The companion replied that the report was indeed true. The Prophet then said: "Do not do that! Observe the fast sometimes and also leave (it) at other times; stand up for prayer at night and also sleep at night. Your body has a right over you, your eyes have a right over you and your wife has a right over you."

Bukhari, Book #2, Hadith #38] “Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, "religion is very easy and whoever overburdens himself in his religion will not be able to continue in that way. So you should not be extremists, but try to be near to perfection and receive the good tidings that you will be rewarded; and gain strength by worshipping in the mornings, the nights."
(See Fath-ul-Bari, Page 102, Vol 1).

[Bukhari, Book #21, Hadith #251] "Narrated 'Aisha: A woman from the tribe of Bani Asad was sitting with me and Allah's Apostle (p.b.u.h) came to my house and said, "who is this?" I said, "(She is) So and so. She does not sleep at night because she is engaged in prayer." The Prophet said disapprovingly: Do (good) deeds which is within your capacity as Allah never gets tired of giving rewards till you get tired of doing good deeds."

[19:76]

FOLLOW THE PATH OF KNOWLEDGE;
GOD STRENGTHENS IN GUIDANCE THOSE WHO SEEK

[Quran - 19:76 – Ali Unal] “God strengthens in guidance those who have sought and found guidance. The righteous, good deeds of lasting merit are best in your Lord’s sight for reward, and best for returns.”

The Prophet (pbuh) has said:

[Anas bin Malik, Al-Hadis, 1:351] "Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) as reported by Anas bin Malik, “He that follows the path of knowledge shall find Allah easing the path to Paradise for him.”

Allah is at the back of a servant so long as the servant is at the back of his brother, and he who treads the path in search of knowledge, Allah would make that path easy, leading to paradise for him and those persons who assemble in the house among the houses of Allah (mosques) and recite the Book of Allah and they learn and teach the Qur'an (among themselves) there would descend upon them the tranquillity and mercy would cover them and the angels would surround them and Allah makes a mention of them in the presence of those near Him, and he who is slow-paced in doing good deeds, his (high) descent does not make him go ahead.”

[20:14]

“I AND I ALONE AM ALLAH.......................”

[Quran - 20:14 – Amatul Rahman Omar] “I, and I alone am ALLAH. There cannot be, is no other and will never be One worthy of worship but I, therefore worship Me alone. And observe prayer so that you may keep Me in mind.”

The Prophet (pbuh) has said:

[Muslim, Book#001, Hadith #0047] “It is narrated on the authority of Mu'adh b. Jabal that he observed: I was riding behind the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) on an ass known as 'Ufair. He (Mu'adh) observed: He (the Holy Prophet) said: Mu'adh, do you know what right has Allah over His bondsmen and what right have His bondsmen over Him? Mu'adh added: I replied: Allah and his Messenger know best. Upon this he (the Holy Prophet remarked: The right of Allah over His bondsmen is that they should worship Allah and should not associate anything with Him, and the right of His bondsmen over Allah, Glorious and Sublime, is that He does not punish him who associates not anything with Him. He (Mu'adh) added: I said to the Messenger of Allah: Should I then give the tidings to the people? He (the Holy Prophet) said: Do not tell them this good news, for they would trust in it alone.”

[Bukhari, Book #72, Hadith #850] “Narrated Mu'adh bin Jabal While I was riding behind the Prophet and between me and him and between me and him there was only the back of the saddle, he said, "0 Mu'adh!" I replied, "Labbaik, 0 Allah's Apostle, and Sa'daik!" he said, "Do you know what is Allah's right upon his slave?" I said, "Allah and His Apostle know best" He said "Allah's right upon his slaves is that they should worship Him alone and not worship anything else besides Him." Then he proceeded for a while and then said, "O Muadh bin Jabal!" I replied, "Labbaik, O Allah's Apostle:, Sa'daik!' He said, "Do you know what is the right of the slaves upon Allah if they do that?" I replied, "Allah and His Apostle know best." He said, "The right of the slaves upon Allah is that He will not punish them (if they do that).”

[Sunan Abu Dawud, Book #9, Hadith #1577] “Narrated Abdullah ibn Mu'awiyah al-Ghadiri: Abu Dawud said: I read in a document possessed by Abdullah ibn Salim at Hims: Abdullah ibn Mu'awiyah al-Ghadiri reported the Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) as saying: He who performs three things will have the taste of the faith.

[21:47]

NOT A SOUL WILL BE DEALT WITH UNJUSTLY

[ALLAH’S Quran 21:47 – Yusuf Ali] “We shall set up scales of justice for the Day of Judgment, so that not a soul will be dealt with unjustly in the least, and if there be (no more than) the weight of a mustard seed, We will bring it (to account): and enough are We to take account.”

The PROPHET (pbuh) has said:

[Bukhari, Volume 9, Hadith 600] “The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "On the Day of Resurrection, I will intercede and say, 'O my Lord! Admit into Paradise (even) those who have faith equal to a mustard seed in their hearts."

[24:22]

DO YOU NOT WISH THAT ALLAH SHOULD FORGIVE YOU?

[Quran 24:22 – Yusuf Ali] “Let not those among you who are endued with grace and amplitude of means resolve by oath against helping their kinsmen, those in want, and those who have left their homes in Allah's cause: let them forgive and overlook, do you not wish that Allah should forgive you? For Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.”

[Bukhari, Book #23, Hadith #373] “Narrated Usama bin Zaid: The daughter of the Prophet (p.b.u.h) sent (a messenger) to the Prophet requesting him to come as her child was dying (or was gasping), but the Prophet returned the messenger and told him to convey his greeting to her and say: "Whatever Allah takes is for Him and whatever He gives, is for Him, and everything with Him has a limited fixed term (in this world) and so she should be patient and hope for Allah's reward." She again sent for him, swearing that he should come. The Prophet got up, and so did Sad bin 'Ubada, Muadh bin Jabal, Ubai bin Ka'b, Zaid bin Thabit and some other men. The child was brought to Allah's Apostle while his breath was disturbed in his chest (the sub-narrator thinks that Usama added: ) as if it was a leather water-skin. On that the eyes of the Prophet (p.b.u.h) started shedding tears. Sad said, "O Allah's Apostle! What is this?" He replied, "It is mercy which Allah has lodged in the hearts of His slaves, and Allah is merciful only to those of His slaves who are merciful (to others).

[Bukhari, Book #78, Hadith #649] “Narrated Usama: Once a daughter of Allah's Apostle sent a message to Allah's Apostle while Usama, Sa'd, and my father or Ubai were (sitting there) with him. She said, (in the message); My child is going to die; please come to us." Allah's Apostle returned the messenger and told him to convey his greetings to her, and say, "Whatever Allah takes, is for Him and whatever He gives is for Him, and everything with Him has a limited fixed term (in this world): so she should be patient and hope for Allah's reward." Then she again sent for him swearing that he should come; so The Prophet got up, and so did we. When he sat there (at the house of his daughter), the child was brought to him, and he took him into his lap while the child's breath was disturbed in his chest. The eyes of Allah's Apostle started shedding tears. Sa'd said, "What is this, O Allah's Apostle?" The Prophet said, "This is the mercy which Allah has lodged in the hearts of whoever He wants of His slaves, and verily Allah is merciful only to those of His slaves who are merciful (to others).”

[Sunan Abudawud, Book #41, Hadith #4923] “Narrated Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-'As: The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: The Compassionate One has mercy on those who are merciful. If you show mercy to those who are on the earth, He Who is in the heaven will show mercy to you.”

[Al-Tirmidhi, Hadith # 1011] The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "It is better for a leader to make a mistake in forgiving than to make a mistake in punishing."

[24:56]

Establish Prayer, Pay Alms and Obey The Messenger

[ALLAH’S Quran - 24:56 – Ali Unal] “Establish the Prayer in conformity with its conditions and pay the Prescribed Purifying Alms, and obey the Messenger so that you may be shown mercy (to be granted a good, virtuous life in the world and eternal happiness in the Hereafter.)

The Prophet (pbuh) has said:

[Muslim, Book #002, Hadith #0432] “Abu Malik at-Ash'ari reported: The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said: Cleanliness is half of faith and al-Hamdu Liliah (Praise be to Allah) fills the scale, and Subhan Allah (Glory be to Allah) and al-Hamdu Liliah (Praise be to Allah) fill up what is between the heavens and the earth, and prayer is a light, and charityis proof (of one's faith) and endurance is a brightness and the Holy Qur'an is a proof on your behalf or against you. All men go out early in the morning and sell themselves, thereby setting themselves free or destroying themselves.”

[Bukhari, Book #2, Hadith #7] “Narrated Ibn 'Umar: Allah's Apostle said: Islam is based on (the following) five (principles): 1. To testify that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah and Muhammad is Allah's Apostle. 2. To offer the (compulsory congregational) prayers dutifully and perfectly. 3. To pay Zakat (i.e. obligatory charity) . 4. To perform Hajj. (i.e. Pilgrimage to Mecca) 5. To observe fast during the month of Ramadan.”

[Malik, Book #20, Hadith #20.76.254] “Yahya related to me from Malik from Ibrahim ibn Abi Abla from Talha ibn Ubaydullah ibn Kariyz that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "Shaytan is not considered more abased or more cast out or more contemptible or more angry on any day than on the Day of Arafat. That is only because he sees the descent of the mercy and Allah's disregard for great wrong actions. That is except from what he was shown on the Day of Badr." Someone said, "What was he shown on the Day of Badr, Messenger of Allah?" He said, "Didn't he see Jibril arranging the ranks of the angels?"

[Muslim, Book #030, Hadith #5736] “Abu Huraira reported that al-Aqra' b.

[25:30]

MY LORD! My People took a Dislike to YOUR DIVINE Message

[ALLAH’S Quran – 25:30 – Al-Muntakhab] “And there shall the Messenger express to Allah, his Creator his discontent at his people; he says now as he said earlier in life below "O Allah my Creator, I presented to my people Your divine message but my people took a dislike to Your divine discourse -the Quran- and they rejected it as a groundless fiction, and what they formed in their minds they exhibited in action".

[Quran 25:30 – Commentary – Muhammad Asad] “My interpolation of the words "on that Day" and the (linguistically permissible) attribution of futurity to the past-tense verb qala is based on the identical interpretation of the above phrase by great commentators like Abu Muslim (as quoted by Razi) or Baghawi.”

[27:60]

IS THERE ANY god BESIDE ALLAH? - Quran – [27:60]

Is not He best Who hath created the heavens and the earth, and Who sendeth down water for you from the heaven wherewith We cause beauteous orchards to grow up, whereof it was not possible for you to cause the trees to grow up!
IS THERE ANY god ALONG WITH ALLAH! Nay! but they are a people who equalise.

BEWARE OF THE SUPPLICATION OF THE OPPRESSED

[ALLAH'S Quran – 27:62 – Wahiduddin] “Who responds to the oppressed when he calls out to Him, and relieves his suffering and who will make you inheritors of the earth? Then, is there a god besides God? How little you pay heed!”

The Prophet (pbuh) has said:

[Bukhari, Book #43, Hadith #628] “Narrated Ibn 'Abbas: The Prophet sent Mu'adh to Yemen and said, "Be afraid, from the curse of the oppressed as there is no screen between his invocation and Allah."

[Muslim, Book #001, Hadith #0027] “It is reported on the authority of Ibn 'Abbas that Mu'adh said: The Messenger of Allah sent me (as a governor of Yemen) and (at the time of departure) instructed me thus:...................................Beware of the supplication of the oppressed for there is no barrier between him and Allah."

[28:56]

ALLAH GUIDES WHOM HE WILLS
[ALLAH’S Quran - 28:56 - Al-Muntakhab] “You Muhammad shall not be able to guide to Allah's path whom you like or to whom you have special affection* but Allah guides to His path of righteousness whom He will and He knows best those who are willing to lift to Him their inward sight.”

The Prophet (pbuh) has said:

[Bukhari, Book #58, Hadith #223] “ Narrated Al-Musaiyab: When Abu Talib was in his death bed, the Prophet went to him while Abu Jahl was sitting beside him. The Prophet said, "O my uncle! Say: None has the right to be worshipped except Allah, an expression I will defend your case with, before Allah." Abu Jahl and 'Abdullah bin Umaya said, "O Abu Talib! Will you leave the religion of 'Abdul Muttalib?" So they kept on saying this to him so that the last statement he said to them (before he died) was: "I am on the religion of 'Abdul Muttalib." Then the Prophet said, " I will keep on asking for Allah's Forgiveness for you unless I am forbidden to do so." Then the following Verse was revealed:-- "It is not fitting for the Prophet and the believers to ask Allah's Forgiveness for the pagans, even if they were their near relatives, after it has become clear to them that they are the dwellers of the (Hell) Fire." (9.113) The other Verse was also revealed:-- "(O Prophet!) Verily, you guide not whom you like, but Allah guides whom He will ......." (28.56)”

[29:25]

The Destiny of Idol Worshippers; HELL FIRE

[ALLAH’S Quran – 29:25 – Asad] “And [Abraham] said: “You have chosen to worship idols instead of God for no other reason than to have a bond of love in the life of this world, between yourselves [and your forebears]: but then, on Resurrection Day, you shall disown one another and curse one another - for the goal of you all will be the fire, and you will have none to succour you.”

The Prophet (pbuh) has said:

[Bukhari, Book #23, Hadith #330] “Narrated 'Abdullah: Allah's Apostle said, "Anyone who dies worshipping others along with Allah will definitely enter the Fire." I said, "Anyone who dies worshipping none along with Allah will definitely enter Paradise."

[29:64]

THE LIFE OF THIS WORLD

[ALLAH’S Quran - 29:64 – Pickthall] “This life of the world is but a pastime and a game. Lo! the home of the Hereafter - that is Life, if they but knew.”

The Prophet (pbuh) has said:

[Bukhari, Book #60, Hadith #309] “Narrated 'Aisha: (the wife of the Prophet) when Allah's Apostle was ordered to give option to his wives, he started with me, saying, "I am going to mention to you something, but you shall not hasten (to give your reply) unless you consult your parents." The Prophet knew that my parents would not order me to leave him. Then he said, "Allah says: 'O Prophet (Muhammad)! Say to your wives: If you desire the life of this world and its glitter........a great reward." (33.28-29) I said, "Then why I consult my parents? Verily, I seek Allah, His Apostle and the Home of the Hereafter." Then all the other wives of the Prophet did the same as I did.”

[31:14]

“give thanks to Me and to your parents”

[ALLAH’S Quran - 31:14 – Amatul Rahman Omar] “And (Allah says), "We have enjoined on every human being concerning his parents (to be good to them). His mother is worn and wasted in bearing him and it takes her two years to wean him. And give thanks to Me and to your parents. To Me shall be the (ultimate) return (of you all).”

The Prophet (pbuh) has said:

[Bukhari, Book #73, Hadith #1] “Narrated Al-Walid bin 'Aizar: I heard Abi Amr 'Ash-Shaibani saying, "The owner of this house." he pointed to 'Abdullah's house, "said, 'I asked the Prophet 'Which deed is loved most by Allah?" He replied, 'To offer prayers at their early (very first) stated times.' " 'Abdullah asked, "What is the next (in goodness)?" The Prophet said, "To be good and dutiful to one's parents," 'Abdullah asked, "What is the next (in goodness)?" The Prophet said, To participate in Jihad for Allah's Cause." 'Abdullah added, "The Prophet narrated to me these three things, and if I had asked more, he would have told me more."

[Muslim, Book #001, Hadith #0151] “t is narrated on the authority of 'Abdullah b. Mas'ud that he observed. I asked the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) which deed was the best. He (the Holy Prophet) replied: Prayer at its appointed hour. I (again) said: Then what? He (the Holy Prophet) replied: Kindness to the parents. I (again) said: Then what? He replied: Earnest endeavour (Jihad) in the cause of Allah. And I would have not ceased asking more questions but out of regard (for his feelings).”

[Muslim, Book #001, Hadith#0158] “It is narrated on the authority of 'Abdur-Rahman b. Abu Bakra that his father said: We were in the company of the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) that he observed: Should I not inform you about the most grievous of the grave sins? (The Holy Prophet) repeated it three times, and then said: Associating anyone with Allah, disobedience to parents, false testimony or false utterance. The Holy Prophet was reclining, then he sat up, and he repeated it so many times that we wished that he should become silent.”

[Bukhari, Book #83, Hadith #9] “Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Amr: The Prophet said, "Al-Kaba'ir (the biggest sins) are: To join others (as partners) in worship with Allah, to be undutiful to one's parents," or said, "to take a false oath." (The sub-narrator, Shu'ba is not sure) Mu'adh said: Shu'ba said, "Al-kaba'ir (the biggest sins) are: (1) Joining others as partners in worship with Allah, (2) to take a false oath (3) and to be undutiful to one's parents," or said, "to murder (someone unlawfully).”

[Sunan Abudawud, Book #8, Hadith #1448] “Narrated Mu'adh al-Juhani: The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: If anyone recites the Qur'an and acts according to its contents, on the Day of Judgment his parents will be given to wear a crown whose light is better than the light of the sun in the dwellings of this world if it were among you. So what do you think of him who acts according to his.”

[Sunan Abu Dawud, Book #41, Hadith #5123] “Narrated AbuUsayd Malik ibn Rabi'ah as-Sa'idi: While we were with the Apostle of Allah! (peace_be_upon_him) a man of Banu Salmah came to Him and said: Apostle of Allah is there any kindness left that I can do to my parents after their death? He replied: Yes, you can invoke blessings on them, forgiveness for them, carry out their final instructions after their death, join ties of relationship which are dependent on them, and honour their friends.”

[32:17]

NO SOUL KNOWS WHAT REWARDS ALLAH HAS IN STORE FOR IT

[ALLAH'S Quran - 32:17 – Al-Muntakhab] “No soul knows what Allah has in store for it and for the like of it of rewards that shall be viewed with pleasure and with eyes speaking content in requital of what they achieved and attained, fulfilled and completed, perfected and accomplished”

The Prophet (pbuh) has said:

[Hadith - Muslim, Book #040, Hadith #6783] “Sahl b. Sa'd as-Sa'idi reported: I was in the company of Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) that he gave a description of Paradise and then Allah's Apostle (may peace be upon him) concluded with these words: There would be bounties which the eye has not seen and the ear has not heard and no human heart has ever perceived them. He then recited this verse:" They forsake (their) beds, calling upon their Lord in fear and in hope, and spend out of what We have given them. So no soul knows what refreshment of the eyes is hidden for them: a reward for what they did”

[33:3]

IN ALLAH, DO BELIEVERS PUT THEIR TRUST

“And put your trust in Allah. Allah is sufficient as a Disposer of affairs.”
[ALLAH’S Quran - 33:3 - Amatul Rahman Omar]

The Prophet (pbuh) has said:

[Bukhari, Book #37, Hadith #488h] “Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, "An Israeli man asked another Israeli to lend him one thousand Dinars. The second man required witnesses. The former replied, 'ALLAH is sufficient as a witness.' The second said, 'I want a surety.' The former replied, 'ALLAH is sufficient as a surety.' The second said, 'You are right,' and lent him the money for a certain period. The debtor went across the sea. When he finished his job, he searched for a conveyance so that he might reach in time for the repayment of the debt, but he could not find any. So, he took a piece of wood and made a hole in it, inserted in it one thousand Dinars and a letter to the lender and then closed (i.e. sealed) the hole tightly. He took the piece of wood to the sea and said. 'O ALLAH! You know well that I took a loan of one thousand Dinars from so-and-so. He demanded a surety from me but I told him that ALLAH's Guarantee was sufficient and he accepted Your guarantee. He then asked for a witness and I told him that ALLAH was sufficient as a Witness, and he accepted You as a Witness. No doubt, I tried hard to find a conveyance so that I could pay his money but could not find, so I hand over this money to You.' Saying that, he threw the piece of wood into the sea till it went out far into it, and then he went away. Meanwhile he started searching for a conveyance in order to reach the creditor's country. One day the lender came out of his house to see whether a ship had arrived bringing his money, and all of a sudden he saw the piece of wood in which his money had been deposited. He took it home to use for fire. When he sawed it, he found his money and the letter inside it. Shortly after that, the debtor came bringing one thousand Dinars to him and said, 'By ALLAH, I had been trying hard to get a boat so that I could bring you your money, but failed to get one before the one I have come by.' The lender asked, 'Have you sent something to me?' The debtor replied, 'I have told you I could not get a boat other than the one I have come by.' The lender said, 'ALLAH has delivered on your behalf the money you sent in the piece of wood. So, you may keep your one thousand Dinars and depart guided on the right path.' "

[Bukhari, Book #60, Hadith #86] “Narrated Ibn Abbas: 'Allah is Sufficient for us and He Is the Best Disposer of affairs," was said by Abraham when he was thrown into the fire; and it was said by Muhammad when they (i.e. hypocrites) said, "A great army is gathering against you, therefore, fear them," but it only increased their faith and they said: "Allah is Sufficient for us, and He is the Best Disposer (of affairs, for us)." PROPHET A GOOD EXAMPLE.........FOLLOW THE EXEMPLAR
[ALLAH’S Quran – 33:21 - Shakir] “Certainly you have in the Messenger of Allah an excellent exemplar for him who hopes in Allah and the latter day and remembers Allah much.”

The Prophet (pbuh) has said:

PRAYERS
[Book #10, Hadith #506] “Narrated Abu Huraira: I heard Allah's Apostle saying, "If there was a river at the door of anyone of you and he took a bath in it five times a day would you notice any dirt on him?" They said, "Not a trace of dirt would be left." The Prophet added, "That is the example of the five prayers with which Allah blots out (annuls) evil deeds.”

PRAYERS AT MAQAM IBRAHIM
[Book #26, Hadith #693] “Narrated Ibn Umar: The Prophet reached Mecca, circumambulated the Kaba seven times and then offered a two Rakat prayer behind Maqam Ibrahim. Then he went towards the Safa. Allah has said, "Verily, in Allah's Apostle you have a good example.”

CHARITY
[Book #24, Hadith #523] “Narrated Abu Huraira : The Prophet said, "The example of a miser and an alms-giver is like the example of two persons wearing iron cloaks." Allah's Apostle also said, "The example of an alms-giver and a miser is like the example of two persons who have two iron cloaks on them from their breasts to their collar bones, and when the alms-giver wants to give in charity, the cloak becomes capacious till it covers his whole body to such an extent that it hides his fingertips and covers his footprints (obliterates his tracks). (1) And when the miser wants to spend, it (the iron cloak) sticks and every ring gets stuck to its place and he tries to widen it, but it did not become wide.”

PRAYER FOR FORGIVENESS

[Bukhari, Book #75, Hadith #319] “Narrated Abu Huraira: I heard Allah’s Apostle saying. " By Allah! I ask for forgiveness from Allah and turn to Him in repentance more than seventy times a day."

[33:28-29]

GOOD LIFE OF THE HEREAFTER

[ALLAH’S Quran – 33:28,29 – Asad] “O PROPHET! Say unto thy wives: “If you desire [but] the life of this world and its charms - well, then, I shall provide for you and release you in a becoming manner; but if you desire God and His Apostle, and [thus the good of] the life in the hereafter, then [know that], verily, for the doers of good among you God has readied a mighty reward!”

The Prophet (pbuh) has said:

[Muslim, Book #009, Hadith #3498] “'A'isha (Allah be pleased with her) reported: When the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) was commanded to give option to his wives, he started it from me saying: I am going to mention to you a matter which you should not (decide) in haste until you have consulted your parents. She said that he already knew that my parents would never allow me to seek separation from him She said: Then he said: Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, said: Prophet, say to thy wives: If you desire this world's life and its adornment, then come, I will give you a provision and allow you to depart a goodly departing; and if you desire Allah and His Messenger and the abode of the Hereafter, then Allah has prepared for the doers of good among you a great reward She is reported to have said: About what should I consult my parents, for I desire Allah and His Messenger and the abode of the Hereafter? She ('A'isha) said: Then all the wives of Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) did as I had done.”

PRAISE ALLAH, UNREMITTINGLY

[ALLAH’S Quran – 33:35 – Yusuf Ali] “For Muslim men and women,- for believing men and women, for devout men and women, for true men and women, for men and women who are patient and constant, for men and women who humble themselves, for men and women who give in Charity, for men and women who fast (and deny themselves), for men and women who guard their chastity, and for men and women who engage much in Allah's praise,- for them has Allah prepared forgiveness and great reward.”

The Prophet (pbuh) has said:

[Bukhari – Book #76, Hadith #486] “Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said ALLAH will give shade to seven (types of people) under His Shade (on the Day of Resurrection). (one of them will be) a person who remembers ALLAH and his eyes are then flooded with tears.”
[Bukhari – Book #93, Hadith #502] “Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, "ALLAH says: 'I am just as My slave thinks I am, (i.e. I am able to do for him what he thinks I can do for him) and I am with him if He remembers Me. If he remembers Me in himself, I too, remember him in Myself; and if he remembers Me in a group of people, I remember him in a group that is better than they; and if he comes one span nearer to Me, I go one cubit nearer to him; and if he comes one cubit nearer to Me, I go a distance of two outstretched arms nearer to him; and if he comes to Me walking, I go to him running.”

[33:41]

REMEMBER ALLAH UNCEASINGLY........NOT JUST ON FRIDAYS

[ALLAH’S Quran - 33:41 – Asad] “O YOU who have attained to faith! Remember God with unceasing remembrance,”

The Prophet (pbuh) has said:

[Muslim – Book #003, Hadith #0724] “'A'isha said: The Apostle of ALLAH (may peace be upon him) used to remember ALLAH at all moments.”

[Muslim – Book #035, Hadith #6471] “Abu Huraira reported ALLAH's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying that ALLAH, the Exalted and Glorious, thus stated: I am near to the thought of My servant as he thinks about Me, and I am with him as he remembers Me. And if he remembers Me in his heart, I also remember him in My Heart, and if he remembers Me in assembly I remember him in assembly, better than his (remembrance), and if he draws near Me by the span of a palm, I draw near him by the cubit, and if he draws near Me by the cubit I draw near him by the space (covered by) two hands. And if he walks towards Me, I rush towards him.”

SUN TRAVERSES PATH APPOINTED BY ALLAH, THE EXALTED

[ALLAH’S Quran – 36:38 – Hilali & Khan] “And the sun runs on its fixed course for a term (appointed). That is the Decree of the All-Mighty, the All-Knowing.”

The Prophet (pbuh) has said:

[Muslim, Book #001, Hadith #0297] “It is narrated on the authority of Abu Dharr that the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) one day said: Do you know where the sun goes? They replied: Allah and His Apostle know best. He (the Holy Prophet) observed: Verily it (the sun) glides till it reaches its resting place under the Throne. Then it falls prostrate and remains there until it is asked: Rise up and go to the place whence you came, and it goes back and continues emerging out from its rising place and then glides till it reaches its place of rest under the Throne and falls prostrate and remains in that state until it is asked: Rise up and return to the place whence you came, and it returns and emerges out from it rising place and the it glides (in such a normal way) that the people do not discern anything ( unusual in it) till it reaches its resting place under the Throne. Then it would be said to it: Rise up and emerge out from the place of your setting, and it will rise from the place of its setting. The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said. Do you know when it would happen? It would happen at the time when faith will not benefit one who has not previously believed or has derived no good from the faith.”

[39:45]

GRAVE WORSHIP FORBIDDEN

[ALLAH’S Quran - 39:45 – Khan and Hilali] “And when Allah Alone is mentioned, the hearts of those who believe not in the Hereafter are filled with disgust (from the Oneness of Allah and when those (whom they obey or worship) besides Him [like all false deities other than Allah, it may be a Messenger like 'Iesa (Jesus) - son of Maryam (Mary), 'Uzair (Ezra), an angel, a pious man, a jinn, or any other creature even idols, graves of religious people, saints, priests, monks, etc.] are mentioned, behold, they rejoice!

The Prophet (pbuh) has said:

[Bukhari, Book #23, Hadith #425] Narrated 'Aisha: When the Prophet became ill, some of his wives talked about a church which they had seen in Ethiopia and it was called Mariya. Um Salma and Um Habiba had been to Ethiopia, and both of them narrated its (the Church's) beauty and the pictures it contained. The Prophet raised his head and said, "Those are the people who, whenever a pious man dies amongst them, make a place of worship at his grave and then they make those pictures in it. Those are the worst creatures in the Sight of Allah.

[Bukhari, Book #23, Hadith #472] Narrated 'Aisha: Allah's Apostle in his fatal illness said, "Allah cursed the Jews and the Christians, for they built the places of worship at the graves of their prophets." And if that had not been the case, then the Prophet's grave would have been made prominent before the people. So (the Prophet ) was afraid, or the people were afraid that his grave might be taken as a place for worship.

[Muslim, Book #004, Hadith #1081] Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said: Let there be curse of Allah upon the Jews and the Christians for they have taken the graves of their apostles as places of worship.

[Muslim, Book #004, Hadith #1083] Jundub reported: I heard from the Apostle of Allah (may peace be upon him) five days before his death and he said: I stand acquitted before Allah that I took any one of you as friend, for Allah has taken me as His friend, as he took Ibrahim as His friend. Had I taken any one of my Ummah as a friend, I would have taken Abu Bakr as a friend. Beware of those who preceded you and used to take the graves of their prophets and righteous men as places of worship, but you must not take graves as mosques; I forbid you to do that.

[Malik’s Muwatta, Book #9, Hadith#9.24.88] Yahya related to me from Malik from Zayd ibn Aslam from Ata ibn Yasar that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "O Allah! Do not make my grave an idol that is worshipped. The anger on those who took the graves of their Prophets as places of prostration was terrible."

[Commentary – Asad] “Since a cognition of God must have a sense of moral responsibility as its correlate, the godless shrink from it, and joyfully turn to the "worship" - real or metaphoric - of imaginary powers which make no such moral demand”

[Commentary – Yusuf Ali] “To evil ones, the mention of the exclusive service of Good is hateful: they only rejoice when other motives are added, e.g., personal indulgence, ancestral custom, and numerous things in life which compete with God’s Law in this world”

[39:53]

ALLAH’S GENEROSITY TOWARDS BELIEVERS
WHO HAVE TRANSGRESSED AGAINST THEMSELVES

[ALLAH’S Quran – 39:53 – Ali Quli Qara’i] “Say [that Allah declares,] ‘O My servants who have committed excesses against their own souls, do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed Allah will forgive all sins. Indeed He is the All-forgiving, the All-merciful.”
[Commentary – Ibn Kathir] “This Ayah is a call to all sinners, be they disbelievers or others, to repent and turn to Allah. This Ayah tells us that Allah, may He be blessed and exalted, will forgive all the sins of those who repent to Him and turn back to Him, no matter what or how many his sins are, even if they are like the foam of the sea. This cannot be interpreted as meaning that sins will be forgiven without repentance, because Shirk can only be forgiven for the one who repents from it.

Al-Bukhari recorded that Ibn `Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him, said that some of the people of Shirk killed many people and committed Zina (illegal sexual acts) to a great extent; they came to Muhammad and said, "What you are saying and calling us to is good; if only you could tell us that there is an expiation for what we have done.'' Then the following Ayat were revealed: (And those who invoke not any other god along with Allah, nor kill such person as Allah has forbidden, except for just cause, nor commit illegal sexual intercourse) (25:68).
(Say: "O My servants who have transgressed against themselves! Despair not of the mercy of Allah.) This was also recorded by Muslim, Abu Dawud and An-Nasa'i. What is meant by the first

Ayah (25:68) is:
(Except those who repent and believe, and do righteous deeds) (25:70). Imam Ahmad recorded that Asma' bint Yazid, said,
"I heard the Messenger of Allah reciting, (verily, his work is unrighteous) (11:46). And I heard him say: (قُلْ يَاعِبَادِي الَّذِينَ أَسْرَفُوا عَلَى أَنْفُسِهِمْ لَا تَقْنَطُوا مِنْ رَحْمَةِ اللهِ إِنَّ اللهَ يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ جَمِيعًا وَلَا يُبَالِي إِنَّهُ هُوَ الْغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ)
(Say: "O My servants who have transgressed against themselves! Despair not of the mercy of Allah, verily, Allah forgives all sins He does not reckon him Truly, He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful).
'' This was also recorded by Abu Dawud and At-Tirmidhi. All of these Hadiths indicate that what is meant is that Allah forgives all sins provided that a person repents. Additionally, one must not despair of the mercy of Allah even if his sins are many and great, for the door of repentance and mercy is expansive. Allah says: (Know they not that Allah accepts repentance from His servants) (9:104). (And whoever does evil or wrongs himself but afterwards seeks Allah's forgiveness, he will find Allah Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.) (4:110).

Concerning the hypocrites, Allah says: (Verily, the hypocrites will be in the lowest depth (grade) of the Fire; no helper will you find for them. Except those who repent, and do righteous good deeds) (4:145-146). And Allah says: (Surely, disbelievers are those who said: "Allah is the third of the three (in a Trinity).'' But there is no god but One. And if they cease not from what they say, verily, a painful torment will befall on the disbelievers among them.) (5:73).
Then He says: (Will they not turn in repentance to Allah and ask His forgiveness For Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.) (5:74) And Allah says:
(Verily, those who put into trial the believing men and believing women (by torturing them), and then do not turn in repentance (to Allah)) (85: 10). Al-Hasan Al-Basri, may Allah have mercy on him, said, "Look at this generosity and kindness! They killed His close friends but He still called them to repentance and forgiveness.

'' There are many Ayat on this topic. The Two Sahihs record the Hadith of Abu Sa`id, may Allah be pleased with him, from Messenger of Allah about the man who killed ninety-nine people. Later on, he regretted it and asked a worshipper among the Children of Israel whether he could repent. He told him no, so he killed him, thus completing one hundred. Then he asked one of their scholars whether he could repent. He said, "What is stopping you from repenting'' Then he told him to go to a town where Allah was worshipped. He set out for that town, but death came to him while he was on the road. The angels of mercy and the angels of punishment disputed over him, so Allah commanded them to measure the distance between the two towns; whichever he was closer to was the one to which he belonged. They found that he was closer to the town he was heading for, so the angels of mercy took him. It was said that when he was dying, he moved himself (towards that town), and Allah commanded the good town to move closer to him and the other town to move away. This is basic meaning of the Hadith; we have quoted it in full elsewhere.

`Ali bin Abi Talhah reported that Ibn `Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him, commented on the Ayah: (Say: "O My servants who have transgressed against themselves! Despair not of the mercy of Allah, verily, Allah forgives all sins...'') Allah invites all to His forgiveness; those who claim that the Messiah is God, those who claim that the Messiah is the son of God, those who claim that `Uzayr is the son of God, those who claim that Allah is poor, those who claim that the Hand of Allah is tied up, and those who say that Allah is the third of three ﴿Trinity﴾. Allah says to all of these: (Will they not turn in repentance to Allah and ask His forgiveness For Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.) (5:74). And He calls to repentance the one who says something even worse than that, the one who says, `I am your Lord most high,' and says, ("I know not that you have a god other than me.'') (28:38).
Ibn `Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him, said, "Anyone who makes the servants of Allah despair of His mercy after this, has rejected the Book of Allah, but a person cannot repent until Allah decrees that he should repent.''

At-Tabarani recorded that Shutayr bin Shakal said, "I heard Ibn Mas`ud say, `The greatest Ayah in the Book of Allah is: (Allah! None has the right to be worshipped but He, the Ever Living, the One Who sustains and protects all that exists)(2:255). The most comprehensive Ayah in the Qur'an concerning good and evil is: (Say: "O My servants who have transgressed against themselves! Despair not of the mercy of Allah.'') And the clearest Ayah in the Qur'an about reliance on Allah is: (And whosoever has Taqwa of Allah, He will make a way for him to get out (from every difficulty). And He will provide him from (sources) he never could imagine) (65:2-3).' Masruq said to him; `You have spoken the truth.''

Imam Ahmad recorded that Anas bin Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah , say: (By the One in Whose Hand is my soul, if you were to commit sin until your sins filled the space between heaven and earth, then you were to ask Allah for forgiveness, He would forgive you. By the One in Whose Hand is the soul of Muhammad, if you did not commit sin, Allah would bring other people who would commit sins and then ask Allah for forgiveness so that He could forgive them.)'' This was recorded only by Ahmad.

Imam Ahmad recorded that Abu Ayyub Al-Ansari, may Allah be pleased with him, said, as he was on his deathbed, "I have concealed something from you that I heard from the Messenger of Allah ; he said: (If you did not commit sins, Allah would create people who would sin so that He could forgive them.)'' This was recorded by Imam Ahmad; it was also recorded by Muslim in his Sahih, and by At-Tirmidhi.

Allah encourages His servants to hasten to repent, as He says: (And turn in repentance (and in obedience with true faith) to your Lord and submit to Him) meaning, turn back to Allah and submit yourselves to Him. (before the torment comes upon you, (and) then you will not be helped.) means, hasten to repent and do righteous deeds before His wrath comes upon you.

ALLAH’S PROMISE IS TRUE

[ALLAH'S Quran - 40:55 – Yusuf Ali] “Patiently, then, persevere: for the Promise of Allah is true: and ask forgiveness for thy fault, and celebrate the Praises of thy Lord in the evening and in the morning.”

The Prophet (pbuh) has said:

[Sunan Abudawud, Book #8, Hadith #1513] “Narrated Abdullah ibn Abbas: The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: If anyone continually asks pardon, Allah will appoint for him a way out of every distress, and a relief from every anxiety, and will provide for him from where he did not reckon.”

[40:55]

THE INEVITABLE HOUR OF JUDGMENT

[ALLAH'S Quran - 40:59 – Daryabadi] “Verily the Hour is coming: there is no doubt thereof; yet most of mankind believe not.”

The PROPHET (pbuh) has said:

[BUKHARI, Book #3, Hadith #80] “Narrated Anas: Allah's Apostle said, "From among the portents of the hour are (the following): 1. Religious knowledge will be taken away (by the death of Religious learned men). 2. (Religious) ignorance will prevail. 3. Drinking of Alcoholic drinks (will be very common). 4. there will be prevalence of open illegal sexual intercourse.”

[BUKHARI, Book #76, Hadith #503] “Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, "When honesty is lost, then wait for the Hour." It was asked, "How will honesty be lost, O Allah's Apostle?" He said, "When authority is given to those who do not deserve it, then wait for the Hour."

[MUSLIM, Book #032, Hadith #6382] “Anas b. Malik reported: Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) and I were coming out of the mosque that we met a person on the threshold of the mosque and he said to Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him): When would be the Last hour? Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) said: What preparation have you made for that? the man became silent and then said: Allah's Messenger, I have made no significant preparation with prayer and fasting and charity but I, however, love Allah and His Messenger. thereupon (the Holy Prophet) said: You would be along with one whom you love.”

[40:60]

ALLAH'S COMMAND - INVOKE ME

[ALLAH'S Quran - 40:60 - Al-Muntakhab] "Invoke Me," says Allah, your Creator, "I respond to your invocation." "Meanwhile those who are too proud to pay reverence to Me and do not display adoration with appropriate acts and rites, shall take up their abode in Hell, plunged into infamy and humiliation."

The Prophet (pbuh) has said:

[Muslim, Book #035, Hadith #6595] "Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: The supplication of the servant is granted in case he does not supplicate for sin or for severing the ties of blood, or he does not become impatient. It was said: Allah's Messenger, what does:" If he does not grow impatient" imply? He said: That he should say like this: I supplicated and I supplicated but I did not find it being responded. and theu he becomes frustrated and abandons supplication."

[41:37]

THE SUN AND THE MOON, ALLAH’S SIGNS
[ALLAH’S Quran – 41:37 – Sher Ali] “And of HIS Signs are the night and the day and the sun and the moon. Prostrate not yourselves before the sun, nor before the moon, but prostrate yourselves before ALLAH, Who created them, if it is HIM Whom you really worship.”

The Prophet (pbuh) has said:

[Bukhari, Book #18, Hadith#170] “Narrated Abu Bakra: In the life-time of the Allah's Apostle (p.b.u.h) the sun eclipsed and he went out dragging his clothes till he reached the Mosque. The people gathered around him and he led them and offered two Rakat. When the sun (eclipse) cleared, he said, "The sun and the moon are two signs amongst the signs of Allah; they do not eclipse because of the death of someone, and so when an eclipse occurs, pray and invoke Allah till the eclipse is over." It happened that a son of the Prophet called Ibrahim died on that day and the people were talking about that (saying that the eclipse was caused by his death).”

[41:37]

prostrate yourselves Unto ALLAH; if it is HE alone whom ye worship

[Quran 41:37 – Daryabadi] “And of His signs are the night and the day and the sun and the moon. So prostrate not yourselves Unto the sun nor the moon; but prostrate yourselves Unto Allah who hath created them, if it is He alone whom ye are worshipping.”

ALLAH, The Exalted, REWARDS The Forgivers

PRINCIPLES OF JUSTICE - ALLAH'S COMMAND

[ALLAH’S Quran 42:40 – Moenian ]
[Principle #1:] An evil act should be retaliated by an equal act [eye for an eye]; however,
[principle #2:] God rewards those who pardon and lead a righteous life.
[Principle #3:] God does not love the wrongdoers [who retaliate excessively].

Prophet (pbuh) has said:

[Malik’s Muwatta, Book #43, Hadith #43.21.15a] "Retaliation is between women as it is between men. That is because Allah, the Blessed, the Exalted, said in His Book, 'We have written for them in it that it is a life for a life and an eye for an eye, a nose for a nose, and an ear for an ear, and a tooth for a tooth, and for wounds there is retaliation.' (Sura 5 ayat 48) Allah, the Blessed, the Exalted, mentioned that it is a life for a life. It is the life of a free woman for the life of a free man, and her injury for his injury." Malik said about a man who held a man fast for another man to hit, and he died on the spot, "If he held him and he thought that he meant to kill him, the two of them are both killed for him. If he held him and he thought that he meant to beat him as people sometimes do, and he did not think that he meant to kill him, the murderer is slain and the one who held him is punished with a very severe punishment and jailed for a year. There is no killing against him."

[42:43]

PROPHET (pbuh) Witness for those who ENDURE with FORTITUDE

[ALLAH’S Quran - 42:43 – Farook Malik] “Those who endure with fortitude and forgive others, surely exhibit great courage in conducting their affairs.”

Prophet (pbuh) has said:

[Muslim, Book #007, Hadith #3180] “Ibn 'Umar (Allah be pleased with them) reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: He who patiently endures the hardships of it (of this city of Medina), I would be an intercessor or a witness on his behalf on the Day of Resurrection.”

[43:59]

JESUS (pbuh) a Servant of ALLAH

[ALLAH'S Quran - 43:59 - Asad] "[As for Jesus,] he was nothing but [a human being] a servant [of Ours] whom We had graced [with prophethood], and whom We made an example for the children of Israel."

The Prophet (pbuh) has said:

[Bukhari, #55, Hadith #644] Narrated 'Ubada: The Prophet said, "If anyone testifies that None has the right to be worshipped but AllahAlone Who has no partners, and that Muhammad is His Slave and His Apostle, and that Jesus is Allah's Slave and His Apostle and His Word which He bestowed on Mary and a Spirit created by Him, and that Paradise is true, and Hell is true, Allah will admit him into Paradise with the deeds which he had done even if those deeds were few." (Junada, the sub-narrator said, " 'Ubada added, 'Such a person can enter Paradise through any of its eight gates he likes.")

[46:15]

THE PRAYER OF A BELIEVER....................

[ALLAH'S Quran 46:15 – humble ones] “O my LORD! Please Inspire me to be Grateful for ever for THY Favours to me and to my Parents and Please Guide me so that I may do Righteous Deeds, well Pleasing To THEE; Please Grant me Righteous Descendents; truly I have turned To THEE repentant and Truly do I Submit To THEE as a Believer"

[COMMENT - Ibn Kathir] "My Lord! Grant me the power and ability) meaning, 'inspire me.' (that I may be grateful for Your favours which You have bestowed upon me and upon my parents, and that I may do righteous good deeds, such as please You,) meaning, in the future. (and make my offspring good.) meaning, my offspring and descendants. Truly, I have turned to You in repentance, and truly, I am one of the Muslims.) This contains an instruction for anyone who reaches forty years of age to renew his repentance and turn to Allah with strong resolution."

[47:36]

ALLAH’S REWARDS WITHOUT PRICE
[Quran – 47:36 – Ali Unal] “The present, worldly life is nothing but a play and a pastime. If you truly believe and keep from disobedience to Him in reverence for Him and piety, He will grant you your rewards, and will not ask of you your wealth.”

[EXPLAINED by Muhammad Asad] “Although the life of this world is "but a play and a passing delight", God does not want to deprive the believers of its rightful enjoyment: and so He expects them to sacrifice only a small part of their possessions in His cause. This passage evidently foreshadows the imposition of the obligatory annual tax called zakah ("the purifying dues"), amounting to about 2.5 percent of a Muslims's income and property, as pointed out by most of the classical commentators in connection with the above verse (hence my interpolation). The proceeds of this tax are to be utilized in what the Qur'an describes as "the cause [lit., "way"] of God", i.e., for the defence and propagation of the Faith and the welfare of the community; and its spiritual purpose is the "purification" of a Muslim's possessions from the blemish of greed and selfishness. (It is to be noted that the payment of zakah was made obligatory at the very beginning of the Medina period, that is, at approximately the same time as the revelation of the present surah.)”

[48:8]

MUHAMMAD (pbuh) Messenger of Glad Tidings

[ALLAH’S Quran - 48:8 – Asad] “VERILY, [O Muhammad,] We have sent thee as a witness [to the truth], and as a herald of glad tidings and a warner –“

The Prophet (pbuh) has said:

[Bukhari, Book #60, Hadith #362] “Narrated Abdullah bin Amr bin Al-As: This Verse: 'Verily We have sent you (O Muhammad) as a witness, as a bringer of glad tidings and as a warner.' (48.8) Which is in the Qur'an, appears in the Surah thus: 'Verily We have sent you (O Muhammad) as a witness, as a bringer of glad tidings and as a warner, and as a protector for the illiterates (i.e., the Arabs.) You are my slave and My Apostle, and I have named you Al-Mutawakkil (one who depends upon Allah). You are neither hard-hearted nor of fierce character, nor one who shouts in the markets. You do not return evil for evil, but excuse and forgive. Allah will not take you unto Him till He guides through you a crocked (curved) nation on the right path by causing them to say: "None has the right to be worshipped but Allah." With such a statement He will cause to open blind eyes, deaf ears and hardened hearts.'”

[48:24]

[ALLAH’S Quran - 48:24 – Al-Muntakhab] “It was He who held back the hands of your enemy as well as your hands from a hostile course of action against each other (at Hodaibyiah) in the precincts of Macca, after He had helped you win the victory over them. Allah has always had sight of what you do.”

[48:24 – Commentary - Asad] “Shortly before the Truce of Hudaybiyyah was concluded, a detachment of Quraysh warriors - variously estimated at between thirty and eighty men - attacked the Prophet’s camp, but his practically unarmed followers overcame them and took them prisoner; after the signing of the treaty the Prophet released them unharmed (Muslim, Nasa'i, Tabari).”

[48:24 – Commentary - Pooya/Ali] “During the course of events at Hudaybiya any incident might have plunged the Quraysh and the Muslims into a fight. On the one hand, the Muslims, though unarmed, had sworn to stand together, and if the Holy Prophet wanted he could have forced entrance to the Kabah, and on the other hand the Quraysh were determined to keep out the Muslims by resorting to armed confrontation, if necessary. Allah restrained both sides from anything that would have resulted in bloodshed. Refer to the commentary of verse one to know that the treaty of Hudaybiya was a victory for the Holy Prophet.”

[49:10]

BELIEVERS ARE BROTHERS TO ONE ANOTHER

[ALLAH’S Quran – 49:10 - Farook Malik] “The believers are brothers to one another, therefore, make reconciliation between your brothers and fear Allah, so that you may be shown mercy.”

The Prophet (pbuh) has said:

[Muslim, Book #001, Hadith #0096] “Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah (may peace and blessing be upon him) observed: You shall not enter Paradise so long as you do not affirm belief (in all those things which are the articles of faith) and you will not believe as long as you do not love one another. Should I not direct you to a thing which, if you do, will foster love amongst you: (i. e.) give currency to (the practice of paying salutation to one another by saying) as-salamu alaikum.”

[Muslim, Book #037, Hadith #6631] “Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: There are one hundred (parts of) mercy for Allah and He has sent down out of these one part of mercy upon the jinn and human beings and the insects and it is because of this (one part) that they love one another, show kindness to one another and even the beast treats its young one with affection, and Allah has reserved ninety nine parts of mercy with which He would treat His servants on the Day of Resurrection.”

[49:11]

ALLAH’S COMMAND – DO NOT RIDICULE AND DEFAME OTHERS

[ALLAH'S Quran - 49:11 - Usmani] “O you who believe, no men should ever scoff at other men. May be, the latter are better than the former. Nor should women (ever scoff) at other women. May be, the latter women are better than the former ones. And do not find fault with one another, nor call one another with bad nicknames. Bad is the name of sinfulness after embracing Faith. If anyone does not repent, then such people are the wrongdoers.”

The Prophet (pbuh) has said:

[Bukhari, Book #73, Hadith #58] “Narrated Anas bin Malik: The Prophet was not one who would abuse (others) or say obscene words, or curse (others), and if he wanted to admonish anyone of us, he used to say: "What is wrong with him, his forehead be dusted!"

[Bukhari, Book #73, Hadith #72] “Narrated Anas: Allah's Apostle was neither a Fahish (one who had a bad tongue) nor a Sabbaba (one who abuses others) and he used to say while admonishing somebody, "What is wrong with him? May dust be on his forehead!"

[Bukhari, Book #46, Hadith #721 ] “Narrated Al-Ma'rur bin Suwaid: I saw Abu Dhar Al-Ghifari wearing a cloak, and his slave, too, was wearing a cloak. We asked him about that (i.e. how both were wearing similar cloaks). He replied, "Once I abused a man and he complained of me to the Prophet . The Prophet asked me, 'Did you abuse him by slighting his mother?' He added, 'Your slaves are your brethren upon whom Allah has given you authority. So, if one has one's brethren under one's control, one should feed them with the like of what one eats and clothe them with the like of what one wears. You should not overburden them with what they cannot bear, and if you do so, help them (in their hard job)."

[Sunan Abudawud, Book #41, Hadith #4859] “Narrated Abu Hurayrah: The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: The gravest sin is going to lengths in talking unjustly against a Muslim's honour, and it is a major sin to abuse twice for abusing once.

[Muslim, Book #032, Hadith #6263] “Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: When two persons indulge in hurling (abuses) upon one another, it would be the first one who would be the sinner so long as the oppressed does not transgress the limits.”

[49:12]

ALLAH’S COMMAND TO BELIEVERS -- DO NOT BACKBITE

[ALLAH'S Quran - 49:12 - Pickthall] “O ye who believe! Shun much suspicion; for lo! some suspicion is a crime. And spy not, neither backbite one another. Would one of you love to eat the flesh of his dead brother? Ye abhor that (so abhor the other)! And keep your duty (to Allah). Lo! Allah is Relenting, Merciful.”

The Prophet (pbuh) has said:

[Muslim, Book #032, Hadith #6265] “Abu Huraira (ra) reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: Do you know what is backbiting? They (the Companions) said: Allah and His Messenger know best. Thereupon he (the Holy Prophet) said: backbiting implies your talking about your brother in a manner which he does not like. It was said to him: What is your opinion about this that if I actually find (that failing) in my brother which I made a mention of? He said: If (that failing) is actually found (in him) what you assert, you in fact backbited him, and if that is not in him it is a slander.”

[49:12]

ALLAH’S COMMAND: AVOID SUSPICION AND MALICE

[ALLAH’S Quran - 49:12 – Al-Muntakhab ] “O you who believe with hearts reflecting the image of religious and spiritual virtues and their deeds wisdom and piety. Avoid suspicion in many instances and the conjecture of the existence of something evil or wrong without proof; suspicion in some instances is indeed a sin. Nor play the spy upon each other or peer inquisitively and impertinently into the nature of other peoples' actions, nor traduce or slander one another by speaking evil or falsehood or speaking maliciously behind his or her back. Would any of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother! Indeed you would shrink from it with horror. Therefore, keep Allah in mind and entertain the profound reverence dutiful to Him, Allah is indeed Tawabun (Relenting) and Rahimun (Merciful). Allah indicates to people that He weighs them not by their parentage, lineage, descent or rank in life, but by the image their hearts reflect.”

The Prophet (pbuh) has said:

[Muslim, Book #032, Hadith #6214] “Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: Avoid suspicion, for suspicion is the gravest lie in talk and do not be inquisitive about one another and do not spy upon one another and do not feel envy with the other, and nurse no malice, and nurse no aversion and hostility against one another. And be fellow-brothers and servants of Allah.”

[Sunan Abudawud, Book #8, Hadith #1505] “Narrated Abdullah ibn Abbas: The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) used to supplicate Allah: "My Lord, help me and do not give help against me; grant me victory, and do not grant victory over me; plan on my behalf and do not plan against me; guide me, and made my right guidance easy for me; grant me victory over those who act wrongfully towards me; O Allah, make me grateful to Thee, mindful of Thee, full of fear towards Thee, devoted to Thy obedience, humble before Thee, or penitent. My Lord, accept my repentance, wash away my sin, answer my supplication, clearly establish my evidence, guide my heart, make true my tongue and draw out malice in my breast."

[Bukhari, Book #73, Hadith #90] “Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, "Beware of suspicion, for suspicion is the worst of false tales; and do not look for the others' faults and do not spy, and do not be jealous of one another, and do not desert (cut your relation with) one another, and do not hate one another; and O Allah's worshipers! Be brothers (as Allah has ordered you!)”

[49:15]

MUSLIM SHAHADA

[ALLAH’S Quran - [49:15] – Al-Muntakhab] “Indeed, true believers are those who have solemnly believed in Allah and His Messenger .....”

The Prophet (pbuh) has said:

[Muslim, Book #001, Hadith #0043] "It is narrated on the authority of Ubadah b. Samit that the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) observed: He who said:" There is no god but Allah, He is One and There is no associate with Him, that Muhammad is his servant and His Messenger, that Christ is servant and the son of His slave-girl and he (Christ) His word which He communicated to Mary and is His Spirit, that Paradise is a fact and Hell is a fact,"Allah would make him (he who affirms these truths enter Paradise through any one of its eight doors which he would like."

[Muslim, Book #001, Hadith #0045] "It is narrated on the authority of Sunabihi................I heard the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) say: He who testifies that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the messenger of Allah, Allah would prohibit the fire of hell for him."

[Muslim, Book #001, Hadith #0051] "It is reported on the authority of Anas b. Malik that the Prophet of Allah (may peace and blessings be upon him) addressed Mu'adh b. Jabal as he was riding behind him to which he replied: At thy beck and call, and at thy pleasure, Messenger of Allah. He again called out: Mu'adh, to which he (again) replied: At thy beck and call, and at thy pleasure. He (the Holy Prophet) addressed him (again): Mu'adh, to which he replied: At thy beck and call, and at thy pleasure, Messenger of Allah. Upon this he (the Holy Prophet) observed: If anyone testifies (sincerely from his heart) that There is no god but Allah, and that Muhammad is His bondsman and His Messenger, Allah immuned him from Hell."

[Bukhari, Book #55, Hadith #644] "Narrated 'Ubada: The Prophet said, "If anyone testifies that None has the right to be worshipped but Allah Alone Who has no partners, and that Muhammad is His Slave and His Apostle, and that Jesus is Allah's Slave and His Apostle and His Word which He bestowed on Mary and a Spirit created by Him, and that Paradise is true, and Hell is true, Allah will admit him into Paradise with the deeds which he had done even if those deeds were few." (Junada, the sub-narrator said, " 'Ubada added, 'Such a person can enter Paradise through any of its eight gates he likes.")

[53:38]

NO SOUL SHALL BEAR THE BURDEN OF ANOTHER

[Quran - 53:38 - Farook Malik] "That no soul shall bear the burden of another"

The Prophet (pbuh) has said:

[Muslim, Book #001, Hadith #0229] "It is narrated on the authority of Ibn 'Abbas: When this verse:" Whether you disclose that which is in your mind or conceal it, Allah will call you to account according to it" (ii 284), there entered in their minds something (of that fear) such as had never entered their hearts (before). The Apostle (may peace be upon him) observed: Say: We have heard and obeyed and submitted ourselves. He (the reporter) said: Allah instilled faith in their hearts and He revealed this verse:" Allah burdens not a soul beyond its capacity. It gets every good that it earns and it suffers every ill that it earns. Our Lord, call us not to account if we forget or make a mistake. He the (Lord) said: I indeed did it. Our Lord! do not lay on us a burden as Thou didst lay on those before us. He (our Lord) said: I indeed did it. And pardon us, have mercy on us. Thou art our Protector" (ii. 286). He said: I indeed did it."

[57:19]

WITNESSES TO THE TRUTH

[ALLAH'S Quran - 57:19 - Yusuf Ali] "And those who believe in Allah and His messengers- they are the Sincere (lovers of Truth), and the witnesses (who testify), in the eyes of their Lord: They shall have their Reward and their Light. But those who reject Allah and deny Our Signs,- they are the Companions of Hell-Fire."

The Pophet (pbuh) has said:

[57:20]

WORLDLY LIFE ENJOYMENT OF DELUSION

[Quran 57:20 – TMQ – Umm Muhammad] “Know that the life of this world is but amusement and diversion and adornment and boasting to one another and competition in increase of wealth and children - like the example of a rain whose [resulting] plant growth pleases the tillers; then it dries and you see it turned yellow; then it becomes [scattered] debris. And in the Hereafter is severe punishment and forgiveness from Allah and approval. And what is the worldly life except the enjoyment of delusion.”

The prophet (pbuh) has said:

[Bukhari, Book #59, Hadith#374] “Narrated Uqba bin Amir: Allah's Apostle offered the funeral prayers of the martyrs of Uhud eight years after (their death), as if bidding farewell to the living and the dead, then he ascended the pulpit and said, "I am your predecessor before you, and I am a witness on you, and your promised place to meet me will be Al-Haud (i.e. the Tank) (on the Day of Resurrection), and I am (now) looking at it from this place of mine. I am not afraid that you will worship others besides Allah, but I am afraid that worldly life will tempt you and cause you to compete with each other for it." That was the last look which I cast on Allah's Apostle.”

[62:9]

[Quran 62:9 – Sher Ali] “O ye who believe ! When the call is made for Prayer on Friday, hasten to the remembrance of ALLAH, and leave off all business. That is best for you, if you only knew.”

The Islamic Call To Prayers (The ADHAN) was approved and established by The Prophet of Islam [PBUH], upon his arrival in Medina, Hijra 0001. The Muslim Call to Prayers, is sounded out (in Arabic) 5 times a day, at appropriate times, at millions of Masjids throughout the world. Adhan, English Translation:

ALLAH is Great.
ALLAH is Great.
ALLAH is Great.
ALLAH is Great.
I testify that there is none worthy of worship except ALLAH.
I testify that there is none worthy of worship except ALLAH.
I testify that Muhammad is the messenger of ALLAH.
I testify that Muhammad is the messenger of ALLAH.
Come to prayer!
Come to prayer!
Come to success!
Come to success!
ALLAH is Great!
ALLAH is Great!
There is no god but ALLAH

Bilal (May ALLAH Be Pleased with him) was the first mu’adhdhin (Muezzin) and Prophet’s (pbuh) favourite.

FRIDAY EXPLAINED BY THE PROPHET (pbuh)

“O you who believe! when the call is made for (the Congregational) Prayer on Friday then hasten to extol the name of Allah and leave off all business. That is best for you if you only knew.” [ALLAH’S Quran - 62:9 – Amatul Omar]

The Prophet (pbuh) has said:

1. [Sunan Abudawud, Book #3, Hadith #1051] Narrated Abdullah ibn Amr: The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: The Friday prayer is obligatory on him who hears the call.

2. [Sunan Abudawud, Book#3, Hadith #1062] Narrated Tariq ibn Shihab: The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: The Friday prayer in congregation is a necessary duty for every Muslim, with four exceptions; a slave, a woman, a boy, and a sick person.

3. [Sunan Abudawud, Book #1, Hadith #0342] Narrated Hafsah, Ummul Mu'minin: The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: It is necessary for every adult (person) to go for (saying) Friday (prayer), and for everyone who goes for Friday (prayer) washing is necessary.

4. [Bukhari, Book #13, Hadith #6] Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle (p.b.u.h) said, "Any person who takes a bath on Friday like the bath of Janaba and then goes for the prayer (in the first hour i.e. early), it is as if he had sacrificed a camel (in Allah's cause); and whoever goes in the second hour it is as if he had sacrificed a cow; and whoever goes in the third hour, then it is as if he had sacrificed a horned ram; and if one goes in the fourth hour, then it is as if he had sacrificed a hen; and whoever goes in the fifth hour then it is as if he had offered an egg. When the Imam comes out (i.e. starts delivering the Khutba), the angels present themselves to listen to the Khutba."

5. [Bukhari, Book #13, Hadith #51] Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, "When it is a Friday, the angels stand at the gate of the mosque and keep on writing the names of the persons coming to the mosque in succession according to their arrivals. The example of the one who enters the mosque in the earliest hour is that of one offering a camel (in sacrifice). The one coming next is like one offering a cow and then a ram and then a chicken and then an egg respectively. When the Imam comes out (for Jumua prayer) they (i.e. angels) fold their papers and listen to the Khutba."

6. [Bukhari, Book #13, Hadith #7] Narrated Abu Huraira: While 'Umar (bin Al-Khattab) was delivering the Khutba on a Friday, a man entered (the mosque). 'Umar asked him, "What has detained you from the prayer?" The man said, "It was only that when I heard the Adhan I performed ablution (for the prayer)." On that 'Umar said, "Did you not hear the Prophet saying: 'Anyone of you going out for the Jumua prayer should take a bath'?".

7. [Muslim, Book #004, Hadith #1837] Abu Huraira reported: Umar b. Khattab was delivering a sermon to the people on Friday when 'Uthman b. 'Affan came there. 'Umar hinting to him said: What would become of those persons who come after the call toprayer? Upon this 'Uthman said: Commander of the faithful, I did no more than this that after listening to the call, I performed ablution and came (to the mosque). 'Umar said: Just ablution! Did you not bear the Messenger of Allah (my peace be upon him) say this: When any one of you comes for Jumu'a, he should take a bath.

8. [Muslim, Book #004, Hadith #1862] It is narrated by Abu Huraira and Huraira that the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said: It was Friday from which Allah diverted those who were before us. For the Jews (the day set aside for prayer) was Sabt (Saturday), and for the Christians it was Sunday. And Allah turned towards us and guided us toFriday (as the day of prayer) for us. In fact, He (Allah) made Friday, Saturday and Sunday (as days ofprayer). In this order would they (Jews and Christians) come after us on the Day of Resurrection. We are the last of (the Ummahs) among the people in this world and the first among the created to be judged on the Day of Resurrection. In one narration it is: ', to be judged among them".

9. [Muslim, Book #004, Hadith #1882] Abdullah b. Umar and Abu Huraira said that they heard Allah's Messenger (way peace be upon him) say on the planks of his pulpit: People must cease to neglect the Friday prayer or Allah will seal their hearts and then they will be among the negligent.

[64:13]

IN ALLAH ALONE BELIEVERS PUT THEIR TRUST

[Quran [64:13] - Vickar Ahamed] “Allah! There is no god but He: And in Allah (Alone), therefore, let the believers put their trust.

The PROPHET has said:

[Bukhari, Book #93, Hadith #534] “Narrated Ibn 'Abbas: Whenever the Prophet offered his Tahajjud prayer, he would say, "O Allah, our Lord! All the praises are for You; You are the Keeper (Establisher or the One Who looks after) of the Heavens and the Earth. All the Praises are for You; You are the Light of the Heavens and the Earth and whatever is therein. You are the Truth, and Your saying is the Truth, and Your promise is the Truth, and the meeting with You is the Truth, and Paradise is the Truth, and the (Hell) Fire is the Truth. O Allah! I surrender myself to You, and believe in You, and I put my trust in You (solely depend upon). And to You I complain of my opponents and with Your Evidence I argue. So please forgive the sins which I have done in the past or I will do in the future, and also those (sins) which I did in secret or in public, and that which You know better than I. None has the right to be worshipped but You."

[92:5 – 7]

FOR THE ONE WHO GIVES IN CHARITY ............THE PATH TO EASE

[92:5 – Usmani] “As for the one who gives (in charity) and fears Allah,”
[92:6 – Asad] “and believes in the truth of the ultimate good”
[92:7 – Daryabadi] “Unto him therefore We shall indeed make easy the path to ease.”

The PROPHET (pbuh) has said:

[Bukhari, Book #23, Hadith #444] " The Prophet said, "The good deeds are made easy for the blessed, and bad deeds are made easy for the wretched." Then he recited the Verses:-- "As for him who gives (in charity) and is Allah-fearing And believes in the Best reward from Allah."

[Bukhari, Book #24, Hadith #491] “ Narrated Abu Huraira Allah's Apostle said, "If one gives in charity what equals one date-fruit from the honestly-earned money and Allah accepts only the honestly earned money --Allah takes it in His right (hand) and then enlarges its reward for that person (who has given it), as anyone of you brings up his baby horse, so much so that it becomes as big as a mountain”

[Bukhari, Book #60, Hadith #469] “Narrated 'Ali: We were in the company of the Prophet in a funeral procession at Baqi Al-Gharqad. He said, "There is none of you but has his place written for him in Paradise or in the Hell- Fire." They said, "O Allah's Apostle! Shall we depend (on this fact and give up work)?" He said, "Carry on doing (good deeds), for everybody will find it easy to do (what will lead him to his destined place)." Then he recited: 'As for him who gives (in charity) and keeps his duty to Allah, and believes in the Best reward from Allah (i.e. Allah will compensate him for what he will spend in Allah's way). So, We will make smooth for him the path of ease. But he who is a greedy miser....for him, the path for evil.”

FOR THE GREEDY MISER.................PATH TOWARDS HARDSHIP

[92:8 – Vickar] “But he who is a greedy miser and thinks himself to be self-sufficient,”
[92:9 – Asad] “and calls the ultimate good a lie”
[92:10 – Asad] “for him shall We make easy the path towards hardship:”

The PROPHET (pbuh) has said:

[Muslim, Book #005, Hadith #2229] “Abu Haraira reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as-saying:. The similitude of a miserly man and the giver of charity is that of two persons with coats of mail over them; when the giver of charity intends to give charity, it expands over him (to much so) that the footprints are also obliterated. And when the miserly man intends to give charity, it contracts over him, and his hands are tied up to his collar bone, and every ring is fixed up to another. He (the narrator) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) as saying: He would try to expand it. but he would not be able to do so.”

Shall we depend (on this fact and give up work)?" He said, "Carry on doing (good deeds), for every body will find it easy to do (what will lead him to his destined place)." Then he recited: 'As for him who gives (in charity) and keeps his duty to Allah, and believes in the Best reward from Allah (i.e. Allah will compensate him for what he will spend in Allah's way). So, We will make smooth for him the path of ease. But he who is a greedy miser....for him, the path for evil.”

WHOSOEVER DOES AN ATOM’S WORTH OF GOOD WILL SEE IT....................

[ALLAH’S Quran – 99:7-8 - Munshey] “Then, whoever did (even) an atom´s worth of good, shall see it, And whoever commits an atom´s worth of evil, shall see it.”

The Prophet (pbuh) has said:

[Hadith – Bukhari, Book #56, Hadith #839] “Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, "A horse may be kept for one of three purposes: for a man it may be a source of reward; for another it may be a means of living; and for a third it may be a burden (a source of committing sins). As for the one for whom it is a source of reward, he is the one who keeps his horse for the sake of Jihad in Allah's Cause; he ties it with a long rope on a pasture or in a garden. So whatever its rope allows it to eat, will be regarded as good rewardable deeds (for its owner). And if it breaks off its rope and jumps over one or two hillocks, even its dung will be considered amongst his good deeds. And if it passes by a river and drinks water from it, that will be considered as good deeds for his benefit) even if he has had no intention of watering it. A horse is a shelter for the one who keeps it so that he may earn his living honestly and takes it as a refuge to keep him from following illegal ways (of gaining money), and does not forget the rights of Allah (i.e. paying the Zakat and allowing others to use it for Allah's Sake). But a horse is a burden (and a source of committing sins for him who keeps it out of pride and pretence and with the intention of harming the Muslims." The Prophet was asked about donkeys. He replied, "Nothing has been revealed to be concerning them except this comprehensive Verse (which covers everything) :--'Then whosoever has done good equal to the weight of an atom (or a small ant), Shall see it (its reward) And whosoever has done evil equal to the weight of an atom (or a small ) ant), Shall see it (Its punishment)."

[Hadith, Muslim, Book #005, Hadith #2163] “Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying:......................... The horses are of three kinds. They are a source of reward to a person, they are a covering to a person, and they are a burden to a person. As for those which bring reward is that a person would get reward who rears them for the sake of Allah and trains them for Him, and nothing disappears in their stomachs but Allah would record for him a good deed. And if they were to graze in the meadow, they would eat nothing but Allah would record for him a reward. And if they were to drink water from the canal, with every drop that, would disappear in their stomachs there would be reward (for the owner). He went on describing till a reward was mentioned for their urine and dung. And if they pranced a course or two, there would be recorded a reward for every pace that they covered. As for one for whom they are a covering, he is the man who rears them for honour and dignity but does not forget the right of their backs and their stomachs, in plenty and adversity, As regards one for whom they are a burden, he is that who rears them for vainglory and showing off to the people; for him they are, the burden. They said: Messenger of Allah, what about asses? He said: Allah has not revealed to me anything in regards to it except this one comprehensive verse:" He who does an atom's weight of good will see it, and he who does an atom's weight of evil will see it"

[Hadith – Malik’s Muwatta, Book #21, Hadith #21.1.3] “Yahya related to me from Malik from Zayd ibn Aslam from Abu Salih as-Samman from Abu Hurayra that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "Horses are a reward for one man, a protection for another, a burden for another. The one who has them as a reward is the one who dedicates them for use in the way of Allah, and tethers them in a meadow or grassland. Whatever the horse enjoys of the grassland or meadow in the length of its tether are good deeds for him. If it breaks its tether and goes over a hillock or two, its tracks and droppings are good deeds for him. If it crosses a river and drinks from it while he did not mean to allow it to drink it, that counts as good deeds for him, and the horse is a reward for him. Another man uses his horse to gain self reliance and up-standingness and does not forget Allah's right on their necks and backs (i.e. he does not ill treat or over-work them). Horses are a protection for him . Another man uses them out of pride to show them off and in hostility to the people of Islam. They are a burden on that man." The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, was asked about donkeys, and he said, "Nothing has been revealed to me about them except this single all-inclusive ayat, 'Whoever does an atom of good will see it, and whoever does an atom of evil, will see it.”

TEMPTATIONS OF WORLDLY LIFE, DIVERSION FROM REMEMBRANCE OF GOD

[ALLAH'S Quran – 102:1 – Amatul Rahman Omar] “(Mankind! your) vying with one another to excel in multiplying worldly possessions diverts you (from God and true values of life),”

The PROPHET (pbuh) has said:

ALLAH, The ONE and ONLY

"Say: He is ALLAH, the One and Only;" [Quran - 112:1 - Abdullah Yusuf Ali]

The Prophet (pbuh) has said:

“Followers of the Qur’an, observe (devotions) an odd number of times, for Allah is Indivisible and loves that which is indivisible.” [Sunan al-Tirmidhī (453), Sunan Abī Dāwūd (1416), Sunan al-Nasā’ī (1675), and Sunan Ibn Mājah (1169)]
